Hello all, 50/m here. Been posting on this sub lately because I am trying to quit. Been drinking since college days and much heavier past 15 years. Had a friend of a friend die a couple weeks ago from cirrhosis. Scared me to death, even though I didn't know him very well.
Without even a doctor's orders, I went on DirectLabs (which I've done before) and ordered my own lab work to see my numbers on liver function. AST, ALT, ALP, GGT, Bilirubin, and Albumin. I literally just google'd which to do and did them. Almost all came back great expect there were isoenzymes high in the ALP. That was enough to make me call my doctor to see him. First available was a nurse practitioner, which was fine by me. So I saw her this morning, which was an unusual visit being I did all of this on my own just so she could look. I told her about my history and how I have cut back this month but for a long time alot of drinking. I said are you concerned about this one number being high? She said most likely you have fatty liver and let's do an ultrasound. Once again I asked are you concerned and she said no, but 10 minutes later the last she said was see you soon, HOPEFULLY its just fatty liver. I got scared. That's why I am posting this. I've had no physical withdraws with cutting back a ton and otherwise a healthy male who exercises about 4 days a week. Anyone been in my spot?
I don't know if I am being paranoid- not very many people do their own labs and see a doctor when their doctor didn't even order the tests and I have no physical problems/symptoms so I feel like this is kinda unusual. I am going to get the ultrasound (and a blood lab they set me up for) for peace of mind but still nervous. Thanks for reading.

I know the roads are dirty but it’s nearly £60k of car that I’ve been waiting 5 months for. So, my girlfriend (27F) knows how important gaming is to me. I don’t ask for much—just some peace, quiet, and the right games. For weeks, I’ve been talking about this specific PS5 game I wanted. I showed her trailers, gameplay, even sent her links. She knew how hyped I was. Well, my birthday rolls around, and what does she get me? The wrong game. Not even close. Some bargain bin nonsense that I wouldn’t touch if it was free on PlayStation Plus.
I was in shock. I asked her if she was joking, and she just laughed and said, “It’s basically the same thing, right?” At that moment, I realized something—I can’t trust her. If she can’t get something this simple right, what else has she been screwing up? Bills? Our relationship? My entire life? I couldn’t let it slide.
So, I made a decision. I sold the house (it was in my name), packed our essentials, and now we’re living in our car. Drastic? Maybe. But I needed her to feel the consequences of her actions. If she can’t respect my interests, why should I live under the same roof with her?
Now she’s crying, saying I’m being ridiculous and “ruined everything over a game,” but I think this is about more than just a game. It’s about respect. AITA for standing my ground?
