My dog of 13 years have passed away overnight to what I assume was a really bad stomach issue. I was googling symptoms all night and was told that if it lasts a day, go to the vet. I found a place that might and planned to take him that morning only to find out he had passed away in his sleep.
The reminders of seeing him bowl, chew toys, leash and collar hurts me really bad. He was genuinely a best friend of mine and I loved him real bad as I don’t have many personal relations in my life so I was a bit attached to him. I feel bad not knowing what had happened. All i remember if running errands and being at work and coming home to him having thrown up and diarrhea, couldn’t move and barely was able to walk. His back legs just wouldn’t function. I knew it was over when I tried to pick him up and he screamed and fell over even though I had picked him up multiple times before that same day. I went outside to grab some things and found he had moved to my moms bed from mine. He was curled up and my sister checked on him staying he was hard and she thought maybe it was time. I didn’t believe it so I picked him up, gave him pats and moved him wherever he wanted til I ended up putting him in his bed and lifting him onto mine. That might, he crawled over to me and I swore during his sleep, I heard one final strange breath but i was in denial and didn’t want to open my eyes as I stayed up til almost 5am to make sure he would make it to the vet in the morning. Having a pet pass away like that next to you, eyes still open does something to someone I can’t explain.
Took him to get cremated yesterday and currently waiting the two weeks til I get him back. Just staring at his little items remembering how he was just like me, living a small life with happiness and things he enjoyed. I just hope he knows I loved him and was trying to make him comfortable even when I didn’t know he was declining, I thought since he was old, he was asleep but I should’ve know as he was still really active but the day before anything, was suddenly sleepy. I hope to see him again soon. I love you rufus.

2025.01.23 21:12 Dry-Winter-1466 AITA for wanting my Best friend to pay for accommodation at her wedding?
I (32F) and my best friend (30F) are both originally from the UK but both live abroad. We left home together and travelled for quite a long time before meeting our partners a few months from each other about 5 years ago.
We've travelled as couples several times, but I, as much as I try to, can't stand her partner. She was always a bit close to her money, but since she's met him, it's gotten a lot worse. To be clear, they have a good situation; both entrepreneurs, while me and my partner earn about half of what they make. Despite being successful, they're the kind of people who will take a Splitwise account as a contest to try to stay in the positive and will message you about sending £3 back after a night out.
Last year, he proposed to her, and since he's Australian, they're planning on hosting the wedding there, which means expensive plane tickets (mind you, my partner and I met and lived there for 2 years, so we weren't going to go back if it wasn't for the wedding).
Since planning the wedding, all they can talk about is how they're going to spend £30k on the wedding, so they need to put money away. Last year, they got invited to one of her cousin's weddings abroad and couldn't stop complaining about "how expensive it was to get there, but thank god they just had to pay for their plane tickets."
I'd like to add that both their parents are helping them with the wedding expenses.
Last week, she messaged me asking if we would be ok spending about £800 on paying our part of a luxury Airbnb with them for the duration of the wedding (5 days).
I really want to go because she's my best friend, but I'm not sure she realises this is a big ask, on top of travelling all the way to Australia.
Should I say something? Thoughts?

 | Just took off my last bandages! Feeling good overall. Way more mobile than I thought I’d be. I’ve had very minimal pain and that’s without taking oxycodone. Gambling is one of the biggest get rich quick schemes in the world, online gaming especially 'you can make momey right from your couch!'. When I tell you it is more then manipulated, it's true, you just can't win as you are not the one in control. There is not one online game that cant be manipulated/controlled/rigged in some way (cards, dice, gameshow, slots) as we are in the technological revolution using algorithms/AI. These online casino softwares and providers live off of the backs of problem gamblers and they use it to their advantage. They will do whatever it takes to keep you coming back, depositing and continuously spending till you have no money, you are in debt, and they are the only thing creeping in the back of your mind. They say they are regulated in your country but that is just a ploy, their licenses are located in poor countries and tax havens like Curacao and Malta where they have a highest rates of corruption. Ran off of pure evilness and greed. This is an addiction worse then nicotine, alcohol, crack, and even fentanyl and i wouldnt wish it on anybody. Evolution games, Playtech, Pragmatic are all the providers that will dupe you, will inch you in with small wins, and then tackle you on when you're most vulnerable when taking larger risk, its table targeting to meet their advertized "RTP". Be warned ⚠️
I'm done officially I don't have a cent to my name, actually I'm in 15k debt because of this and it would most likely be more if it was possible. I really need to fix and sort my life before gambling takes more then just my money. I would've never imagined within a year and few months of gambling I'd go this far in the deep end but it happened. And now that I know what I know and have a better understanding of cashinos and this capitalist world, I will never return another penny to these shady casinos, game providers, and governments pockets.
The myth is 99% of gamblers quit before their big win, no that's not true at all. 99% gamblers quit when they lose it all (money, loans, house, car, friends, family, and even a life) and that's a fact.
This is my game over, time to restart and rebuild my life one piece at a time without gambling being apart of it. I'm a natural risktaker but it's something I cannot risk no longer as it just hurts my bank account and livelihood. This debt may take me a couple years to pay off, but once I have paid it off I will feel alleviated to have to stress of all those gambling losses and late nights and hectic mornings off of my back.

as someone who’s been seeing and keeping up w the la fires since they started, it’s heartbreaking to hear what others who have been affected by them are going through. currently watching her new vlog and i know i still give these influencers the benefit of the doubt when it comes to them ACTUALLY do something good with their platform (actually wanna give her some flowers here for donating PR + helping out donation drives)!
BUT when she shows oli while going to buy the stuff needed for the drive at costco, he’s trying too hard to be funny saying “hell yeah brother” like……. sure i guess use humor to get through things but i don’t think he was affected by the fires and like for sure aren’t contributing anything (like usual). like read the room + time and place for that type of stuff. did anyone else get irked by that or am i just being a h8r lol ???

2025.01.23 21:12 Pookie-Parks Had to be toxic in order not to lose rank and I regret nothing.
Just had a game where a Tinkaton and Greninja were fighting for Jungle for the first 2 minutes of the match. They would then come out to lane as a pair and die immediately. Greninja was on the mic tilting from the moment the game started and was just going after Tinkaton for stealing his jungle, so I got on mic to tell him to help in lane and he told me to suck his 🥜. He was waiting in jungle to farm before the Tinkaton could come back so I told him he wasn’t doing anything useful so he should just stay there because we didn’t need him. Strategy worked and he just cussed me out while idling.
I popped off as Aegislash but we lost anyways because it was 5v4 and to be fair to the greninja, the Tinkaton was pretty awful and really didn’t do anything either. We lost no points because he was idling and I’m a little disappointed about how proud I am for tilting the guy far enough for him to stop playing. We had NO shot of winning. He didn’t evolve until the halfway point and would just fight over jungle and die immediately after leaving it. I lowkey feel like I saved the rest of the team’s rank by egging him on and I’m ok with that. Might get a penalty in my inbox for the mic stuff but not all heroes wear capes.
