There's this woman, let's call her Jane (not her real name), unknown age. She and I are both regulars at a coffee shop. Every day, we get coffee together and we chat with each other when waiting in line.
I (30M) was always shy and nervous when talking to women. I never asked anyone out. I decided that one day, I need to get over my fear of rejection and just do it. I need to get over my fears and shyness. I knew she already had a boyfriend because I see him waiting for her outside the shop sometimes. But she never mentioned a boyfriend to me, so (I think) she doesn't know that I know.
A few days ago, I asked her out and she rejected me. She told me that she already had a boyfriend. I said ok and moved on with my life. I told some friends and coworkers about this. Some of them were supportive, but others were telling me that I'm an asshole for asking. I made her reject me and put her in an uncomfortable situation. They also talk about women who are murdered for rejecting men, and they said that I made her fear for her life.
I don't think that's reasonable. Even though I got rejected, I still think this is a huge accomplishment for me because at least I overcame my shyness and asked a woman out. I don't think that merely asking is an assholeish thing to do. Yes, women do get murdered for rejecting men. But you can't just assume the worst from everyone.

2025.01.24 00:43 PapaBound_ Does anyone still use the Technic Launcher or is it just me?
I've been playing Minecraft since the initial beta release in 2011, and started digging my teeth into modding around version 1.7-ish. The Technic Launcher has always been my go-to platform for playing and uploading modpacks. But I feel as though Technic is nearing the end of its lifespan. So I'm simply curious if anyone else still uses it.

Hi all, just wondering if ppl had any advice or wanted to share their cover letters / experience they used or had to get their internship on the hill.
Also what do you think the general timeline is for applicants? I just got back from a study abroad so I haven’t applied anywhere yet. Am I too late? I’m trying to pivot from working at a digital political advertising firm to actually working on the hill. I’m an English and professional and technical writing double major so my strong suit is researching, writing, and editing but my only political experience is my current job. Any and all advice is appreciated 💝

I’ve moved around a lot throughout my life and I’ve said goodbye to a lot of clothes and other items with much ease, however makeup is a different story. I always find some excuse to keep it, mainly “I’ll get around to using it” but of course I never do. There’s always some other new product taking precedence and thus more and more years go by and it ends up sitting in a drawer untouched. Today was the day I made the decision some things have got to go, including a makeup forever eyeshadow palette I got doing a makeup course 14 years ago. I feel like I’m letting go of a part of me but I know I can’t just keep holding onto this stuff. Anyone else have this problem? How often do you buy makeup? Do you keep on top of makeup trends?
