 | La noche del 22 de enero de 2025 tuve un sueño. Me encontraba en una ciudad con casas tipo tráiler. El cielo estaba completamente cerrado, de un color gris que daba la impresión de ser un domo artificial. No podía ver el infinito del cielo ni los astros como la luna, el sol o las estrellas. Sin embargo, podía notar que en ese cielo artificial había grietas redondas, y a través de ellas se dejaba ver el resplandor de algo más allá. Tal vez era el sol, aunque nunca lo vi directamente. En mi sueño, estaba acompañado por un amigo, y ambos encontramos bajo la tierra, cerca de los tráilers, piedras preciosas y oro. Entonces pensé que podríamos usar esas riquezas para comprarnos la salida de este mundo artificial, una prisión sin grilletes ni barrotes, pero que carecía de alegría y color. Yo deseaba escapar de ese lugar y descubrir lo que había más allá del domo que nos cubría y que nos mantenía encerrados. En el sueño, localicé a un “administrador oficial” (no sé exactamente cómo describirlo, pero sabía que él controlaba este mundo artificial). Sabía que, para salir de esta prisión, había que pagarle a él. Al traerlo a nosotros y entregarle las riquezas que habíamos encontrado, logramos que nos diera el permiso para escapar. Sin embargo, mi amigo decidió quedarse atrás; parecía haberse adaptado a este lugar y lo había aceptado como su nuevo hogar. Yo, en cambio, decidí partir. So, I’m a teenager looking to enlist or go through an academy within the next year. Along with that, I have a competition in 6 months, but keep in mind it’s military-style.
The problem I have is that I have no clue where to begin, how to start, and all I know is that people tell me to build good habits but never tell me what the habits I should be building are.
I weighed in today around 151 lbs and I’m 5’6 with a sticky body build and a decent amount of hanging fat that I need to get rid of, so I have a BMI of around 24.4. I want to build myself up for the military; I don’t need to look good, but I want to excel. Could anyone give me some advice on how to start or give me tips on where I could find some beginner-friendly resources?
Again, I don’t want to look good necessarily. I want to compete for a military-style event in 6 months, enter the military in a year, and maintain fitness after that. Any advice at all would be appreciated.

I have been a TrainerRoad user for the past three years and while its been good overall, I have an extremely difficult time following their type of program. I generally like to ride outside and find the neverending sweet spot/threshold interval sessions difficult to do outdoors. I have tried their polarized plans but the high intensity intervals are oddly structured. AI FTP detection is cool but seems to lag behind my fitness unless I'm doing a lot of threshold work.
That said, I appreciate how well their app collates all of my cycling and strength data. I like the red light/green light feature and TSS tracking. I'm basically looking for a substitute that does this piece for me without the training plan and without costing 210 dollars a year. I'm fine paying for something, but this seems excessive for what I use it for. Thanks!

As a manufacturing engineer working on both sides of the Canada-US border for the past 40 years, I have witnessed first hand how the Canadian manufacturing industry has been decimated by cheaper US imports, because US producers benefit from economy of scale.
If we are forced to retaliate to US tariffs on manufactured goods, I would suggest we introduce a law that will keep those retaliatory tariffs in place for a minimum of 5 years, in order to incentivize investors to increase capital spending to build industrial capacity within Canada. There will be no such investment in Canadian manufacturing if businesses think the retaliatory tariffs will be short-lived.
Let's return manufacturing for some basic manufactured goods back to Canada.
