Me 22M, and my gf 20F have been dating for just under years now. We go to the same medium sized college. Our families get along well and I am really fond of her parents. The thing is I think I should be running away from this relationship as fast as I can, but I just can’t bring myself to do it. My girlfriend and I do not get along at all. My girlfriend is upset with me every single day about several things all the time. She complains constantly about my past relationships and even girls I used to just hang out with. She causes me of cheating when I absolutely never have, never would, and never would even think about it. The accusations are based on no evidence either. I try making her feel better but day after day it’s harder because it’s the same cycle over and over. She has a problem, we talk about it, and then she moves on to another problem. Nothing I do ever feels good enough for her. She will threaten to go “find other people to entertain her” among other things. She thinks I treat her terribly and don’t do the bare minimum of what it takes to be a boyfriend, but I am in my junior year of college for engineering and have little to no free time for anything outside of school work. We have a small trip coming up here soon so I feel like I can’t end things now and that’s always how it goes. After the ski trip it will be too close to Valentine’s Day to break up with her. And that cycle just keeps repeating. I do love her but deep down I know this isn’t the person I should be with for the rest of my life. It’s the classic conflict between my heart and my brain. What should I do?

Grandfather born in Czechoslovakia 1921,arrived Ellis Island on the Majestic with his Czech parents and brother in 1926. Married in 1940s to my grandmother an American, had my mother and I was born in Illinois.
I dont have his birth certificate nor do I know the town he was born in. Can get his death certificate. Can get my mother and fathers, and have my own but requesting duplicates of all the above could be easiest. I’m not in any rush nor have a deadline.

2025.01.24 05:10 antisocialite_- Help! Decades-Old Mystery: Who Were Needham Waters’ Parents? (NC/AL/GA, 1818-1911)

I’ve been searching for the parents of my third great-grandfather for years, Needham Waters, and haven’t been able to get past this brick wall. I’ve spent hundreds of hours looking through this information and just can’t figure it out. Thought it was time to ask for some additional help. Here’s some of the info I have:

Born August 1818 in Wayne County, NC. Died December 22, 1911 in Tallapoosa, Alabama.
November 22 1820, "Ordered that John, Polly, Charles, Unity, Bright, Council, Calvin, & Needham Waters be bound unto Nancy Waters until of age." (Polly’s legal name may have been Mary).
Nov. 21, 1821, "Ordered that Charles, Bright, and Council Waters (minor) now of the age of fifteen years be bound to Lazarus Smith untill he arrives to lawful age." (These are Needham’s older brothers)
Married Martha “Patsy” Henderson in 1840, and they lived in Buck Swamp, Wayne, NC in 1840. Martha is also difficult to find background information on.
In 1850 he is living in Duplin Co, NC.
In 1852 there is a Needham Waters on a tax digest for Macon, GA. Not sure this is my Needham
By 1856, he is living in Alabama, because he says his 1856 daughter Jane is born in Alabama
1859, there’s a court document with a debt he owes in Tallapoosa, Alabama. Every other census until his death shows him still living in Tallapoosa.
I’ve found a few interesting newspaper articles about him calling him one of the oldest men in his town (Dadeville, Alabama), an interesting character, and one saying he had 63 grandchildren.
I am certain my Needham is the one found in the guardianship records because he names his children Calvin, Nancy, Needham, Council, Charles, and John (as well as Jane, Susan, and Jefferson). A Nancy born between 1780-1790 was living next door to him in Alabama in 1866. Below is what I know about 1818 Needham’s siblings:
- John Waters (1802), I believe married Elizabeth Ray in 1833 Tuscaloosa, Alabama. I see him in the 1840 and 1850 census, but John Waters is such a common name, it’s been difficult to find other information or even know if this is the right John.
- Polly Waters (1803), who is possibly the Polly who married Everett Elmore, is a mystery to me. The Polly who married Elmore was born the same year as my Polly (1803) and three Elmore brothers were also apprenticed to Lazarus Smith two months before her brothers were apprenticed to him. The problem is – Polly Waters Elmore is the daughter of Joel Waters, who sued his children Polly and Needham in the 1840s and his only other children are listed as Joel Jr, John B, and Harriet. Needham, son of Joel Waters, was born in 1802 and married Penelope Hill. Most family trees either confuse him with my 1818 Needham or they list 1802 Needham and Penelope Hill as 1818 Needham’s parents. 1802 Needham and Penelope didn’t start having children until the 1830’s though and 1802 Needham’s will was proven in 1857 in North Carolina with all of his children listed. My 1818 Needham died in 1911 in Alabama. I have 6 DNA matches with the last name Elmore that are between 3^rd & 4^th cousins on my maternal side.
- Charles Waters, born 1806, and married Mary ‘Polly’ Salter, also repeats guardian Nancy and his siblings names with his children: Bright, Nancy, Charles, Martha, Dawson, William, Calvin, and Mary. He was bound to Lazarus in 1821 and was living in Monroe, Alabama by 1835, where he married his wife. I have DNA matches with Charles’ descendants.
- Charity Waters, who is possibly the Charity who married Patrick Barfield (but not likely), does not repeat the sibling names with her children, except for John possibly. I found this record written by John Waters, to Phillip Hooks, mentioning Bryan Barfield, Isaac Crow, and has Lazarus Smith as the witness (https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3Q9M-CSNN-NKXY?view=fullText&keywords=John%20Waters&groupId=TH-909-68896-14915-83) I know my Waters family has connection to Lazarus Smith as well as the Hooks family, which made me wonder if my Charity could be the one who married Barfield. I no longer believe this is my Charity though, because of this will from William Walters naming Charity Barfield as his daughter. Charity and Patrick repeat name found within this will with their own children (http://files.usgwarchives.net/nc/robeson/wills/waltrs02.txt). Charity could be a cousin or other relative considering she and Needham were in the same town at the same time and associated with the same families. I also have Barfield DNA matches.
- Bright Waters (1809) is found on the 1830 census a few rows down from Nancy Waters. I haven’t found anything definite about him after that date. There are records of a Bright Waters in the Confederate army, but it may have been one of his nephews named after him
- Council Waters (1814) I have not been able to find very much information on besides this from a genealogy message board: “I am trying to locate information on Council Waters/Walters who had a son named Charles Calvin Walters. Council Walters moved to Georgia and is found on the tax roll for Macon Co. GA dated June 10, 1843, along with Jeremiah Walters and Jesse Walters (Jesse was married to Sarah Waterer of Lenior Co. NC). Council Waters is listed on the 1860 Census of Dooly Co. GA as living in the home of Sarah Hooks who was the wife of Barton Hooks and daughter of Jesse Walters. He is listed as being 45 years old and having been born in NC.”
- Calvin W Waters, who had a son with the same name, and then a grandson with the same name, has been difficult to trace. Either he or (more likely) his son married Mary Biggerstaff and had daughters Julie & Annie, along with son Calvin.
- My DNA matches show two other possible siblings (though their family trees could be incorrect) – Eliza Baldwin Waters who married Jacob Giddens and Nancy Waters who married William Cavanaugh Jr. Eliza named sons Needham and John and was married in Twiggs County - same place where John, Needham, and Council have possibly lived, and where a Needham Waters won the Georgia Land Lottery in 1832, but it was sold on behalf of his orphans. Nancy has children named William, John, Serena, and Hepsibah Jane. 1818 Needham’s son, Needham Jr., named a daughter Hepsey, which I found interesting. Though the Needham’s were in Alabama at this point while the Cavanaugh’s were in North Carolina. Also my thrulines shows matches with Penelope Hill's siblings but I believe that's due to the abundance of misinformation about the two Needham's in most ancestry family trees.

Additional notes:

The 1866 Tallapoosa census listed a Nancy Waters, born around 1780, to be living alone and next door to my 1818 Needham. This makes me think it is his 1820 guardian Nancy, considering he named his first daughter after her presumably, and the age of this Nancy makes sense for the guardian of children born between 1802-1818.
1832 Needham Waters won the Georgia Land Lottery for Twiggs county and the land was sold on behalf of his orphans.
In 1826 John and Needham Waters made purchases at a store in Twiggs Co.
There does seem to be an abundance of Waters’ in North Carolina in this time period. I've found at least four Needham Waters in the south during this time period. They seem to repeat names each generation which makes this incredibly frustrating. Records seem to spell the last name either Waters / Watters / Walters / Warters / Waterer. Please let me know if you see anything I might be missing.
My specific line of Waters seem to be poor farmers who do not own slaves, but do fight for the confederacy
Any suggestions on finding his parents would be so appreciated!

2025.01.24 05:10 Tigxette Well... I just had my first death

The game was going smoothly, even quite easy overall. I manage to finish the first quest, get to level 8, even unlock a beguiling mutation (which is something I think I will love for my next character) and charm a two-headed slugsnout with it (because it seems quite strong).
Then, one day, I'm just exploring the map and at the start of a battle with a slime... I'm killed, instantly, I died in one "round". I was thinking how a simple slime could have killed me, and then I read more closely...
Who would have thought that having a powerful ranged companion as a melee character was a bad idea?
My two-headed slugsnout basically killed me from behind while trying to attack the slime that have just dazed me.
Good game. Even if I didn't saw much, I'm ready for round 2.
