2025.01.24 05:48 paykoman Why do double hero picks always end in bans? A fairer approach is needed
Right now, if both teams pick the same hero it gets banned automatically. This means some popular heroes (like Pudge) barely get played at all, which is frustrating and doesn’t feel fair.
Here’s a proposal: - If both teams pick the same hero, give it a 50% chance of being banned. - If it’s not banned, give each team a 25% chance to secure it.
With this system, popular heroes won’t always be banned but will show up from time to time, giving everyone a chance to play them while keeping things balanced. What do you think?

He used to take me every day from college around 3 years before going home. My both parents are working professionals, and they don't have any idea about my issues. I'm 24 years and working in the USA. I left India and thought I'm safe now, but he started calling and abusing again through phone. I'm under therapy for 2 years. I struggle with social anxiety, and alcohol always “helped” me loosen up and act more like who I want to be. Drinking lots of alcohol was always a fun silly time with the weekend buddies. Fast forward several years, and I realized I was no longer drinking socially. I was getting drunk in the house on a random Tuesday, Wednesday, any day ending in “Y” really. Chug water right before bed, and hope to not be hungover at my day job in the morning. Rinse and repeat…
Recently, in brief moments of clarity, I started to wonder why it seems I am not invited anywhere anymore. I chalked it up to everyone just getting older, people getting busier. But at the same time, the thought of going out with people sounded like a chore. I would rather just drink at home instead of going out drinking elsewhere. I could get as sloshed as I wanted to at home, with no worries of driving or ubers or any witnesses to my drunkenness.
I never thought alcohol abuse could be a real problem for me, until it was. What used to bring me fun times with friends actually started hurtling me in the opposite direction, and I went years without even noticing. At my worst, I knew I wanted and needed to quit, and I could go a few days before caving, but all it took was one stressful moment and I would justify slamming my beverages for the rest of the day.
Finally realizing what I have brought onto myself, I made the decision to quit alcohol earlier this month in hopes of improving my social life and my mental health. And while I feel so much better physically, no longer waking up at 3am with a pounding heartbeat, no hangovers… I find I am still miserable. Just miserable in a different way now. I resent myself for all these years of self-isolation and pushing people away… Wonder and worry about what harm I have done to my body… I also see my relationships more clearly now, and several of them were built on drinking/partying. Do I have to find new friends now? How could I even approach people without my alcoholic alter ego doing the talking? Still trying to navigate that…
I guess I say all this to say - quitting alcohol might not instantly solve all of your problems, but it (quitting) surely won’t add to them. And it’s okay to not have everything figured out once you do quit.

 | I'm looking to build a DIY integrating sphere, to test some LEDs (flashlights, LED strips, COB lights etc.). I would love to get some advice from the other enthusiasts/LED experts on this forum =). Also, figured it might be a fun project for the kids, to keep them occupied. 1. Hollow Spheres For the actual sphere itself, I'm having a bit of trouble finding a suitable hollow sphere I can use. The only options I've found are possibly a hollow styrofoam ball - the largest I can find though are around 30cm in diameter, or maybe a similar clear acrylic ball (e.g. used for wedding decorations) - also around 30-40cm in diameter. Has anybody got any suggestions for where to get a larger hollow sphere from? Or even where to get one of those giant hollow styrofoam balls cheaply? 2. Diffuse Reflectance Coatings For the inside coating - Spectralon is apparently the gold standard, with > 99% diffuse reflectance. However, it's not available as a paint or coating, I assume it has to be done in a factory somewhere, using some kind of fancy vapour deposition technique or similar. There's ready-made 6080 paints - however, they're insanely expensive for home/hobbyist use, and probably out of my reach: https://preview.redd.it/kk1ijwi6qvee1.png?width=2590&format=png&auto=webp&s=6d14439212ad89f23db0ffa9a0f1fb770032a1eb Apparently you can use normal paint to mix with BaSO₄ (Barium Sulphate) - however, I'm not sure of the ratios or mixing techniques here. If you wanted to measure a long LED strip (or say...a 82cm long NeoPixel LED strip used in a kid's lightsaber...), how exactly would you do it in such an integrating sphere? (Assuming you could only get say, a 30-40cm sphere). Is the assumption that the entire light source has to be inside the chamber? Or could you possibly pass the DUT through the chamber, and only have part of the emitting elements inside the sphere, and then do some math to multiple it? I 14(f) i had internet access since i was a kid. Becuz of that i discovered nsfw stuffs as a really young kid. And im really addicted to that still now i tried to quit it like dozens of times and when i was 13 i caught myself watching l0l!con stuffs ftom then on i thought that i was a pdfile. And becuz of it my grades got dropped my physical health got really bad, and i had those scary intrusive thoughts ab graping my siblings so i started to stop talking with my siblings and stopped allowing myself to not to get out of my room. I have considered commiting suicide but my mom stopped me. And now im 14 and still struggling but not as much like i used to struggle when i was 13. Since im still really addicted to porn i find myself accidentaly looking at those weird l0l!con stuffs i mean i dont watch them but when im watching hentai type of shit its really unable to that l0l!con to stop popping out of no where. And the i've been thinking ab it i was an cocsa victim for 3 years and becuz of that im hypersexual like not js in teenage hormone way and i fantasize ab getting sa'd but comparing to when i was 13 i've gotten better. And when i was 13 seeing those l0l!con stuffs feels like im the one thats getting sa'd and i used to see that im the one getting used.
