2025.01.24 06:40 ardouronerous Why did Ghostbusters Frozen Empire fail while Alien Romulus succeed?
When comparing Ghostbusters Frozen Empire and Alien Romulus, one could argue that both movies uses nostalgia to lure in old fans of the original, and both movies uses the same plots as their original counterparts, kinda like how Star Wars The Force Awakens was to a New Hope, a plot by plot copy of the original with minor differences, however, in my opinion, Ghostbusters Frozen Empire failed while Alien Romulus succeeded.
Here's why I think this was the case.
The villain and the xenomorphs were better utilized in Romulus. The xenomorphs were a growing threat, the main bad guy was an old villain from the past, they used Ian Holms well enough that it comes off as something new and not a rehash.
In the case of Frozen Empire, the villain and ghosts were barely there and weren't memorable at all, hell, I don't even remember much of the ice ghost, unlike Gozer and Stay Puff Marshmallow Man.
With that said, Ghostbusters Afterlife is what Alien Romulus was to Alien, as in, an old villain returns in Gozer, and the ghosts were better utilized in Afterlife than in Frozen Empire.
It would have been better if they used the Extreme Ghostbusters as a blueprint for the new movies after Afterlife, because EG had better villains and ghosts than Frozen Empire, while keeping an OG Ghostbuster (Egon) as the mentor.

Disclaimer that I have zero clue what I’m doing and have never painted before aside from Crayola watercolors. I’m using some acrylics and watercolors. My 10 year old asked me to try painting his D&D character. I did some tests on paper just to get used to the medium a little before switching to canvas.

Hearts of Iron IV, Stellaris, Crusader kings 3 or more
I want to dip my toes on this genre(because they're on sale on steam), I want to hear your experience to decide which one I should try, I've played many kinds of management simulation games but never this grand of scale because the learning mechanics looks pretty steep for people outside this genre.
Preferably only with the base game only, if I had to buy multiple DLCs just to get the best out of the game then count me out. If the base game is enjoyable enough then perhaps the DLCs will become worth it after.

Monday, I signed up for the BMO eBusiness account because its free and I thought I could save money on monthly fees, now I'm wondering if that is a waste of time.
This is because I am trying to connect both my personal bank account and an upcoming new merchant account to the bank so I can get money flowing electronically (after all, that's the prime purpose of the eBusiness account... electronic transactions)
So I login to my BMO account to look for information that normally appears on cheques (transit number etc), and I see that the transit number shows "unavailable" so that means I can't link anything electronically to that bank account yet BMO likes the moneris processor.
If anyone else has this kind of problem how did they resolve it? Is there some online transit number i could use?

2025.01.24 06:40 Dry_Flan_6425 my first time donating experience (lowkey a rollercoaster)
so i went to donate plasma today for the first time. it was okay at first until i got to the part where i actually had to lay down and get my blood drawn. that’s when i realized shit was about to go wrong. the technician looked for my veins on both arms but we decided to go with my left since my veins are more visible there . anyway, fast forward she took two bottles of blood for testing and was going to do something else after, she didn’t mention what honestly.
as she’s pulling out the needle from my arm all i feel is a hot flash and blood dripping down my arm, the bed, the floor and the technician is panicking. at this point im in shock that even happened. she called over two other people and they helped clean up my area and wipe me down.
here comes the fucked up part in my opinion, one of the head technicians comes up to all of us and she tells me that i have to leave early and come back a different day. she tells the other tech who was originally working on me that we can’t use the tube due to air contamination. after that I waited to see if they would ask me to stay for a bit so they could see my condition but they didn’t. just told me to leave.
The other guy asked if i was okay and they all apologized. I get that this is a new location but please is it hard to really train your staff properly? This should not be happening at all. I don’t know what went wrong but that’s not normal. I get blood drawn frequently and never had that happen to me.

I like to write about a bunch of different things, mostly scifi and fantasy stuff. However, many years ago I remember writing a very explicit short story and of course it was based on my own people. I don't have the drafts anymore for whatever reason but I just remembered some details.
It was about a young Black American man (18) and his sexual encounters. Basically, there was a brief starting point that led into a sexual act almost every chapter and this guy went on summer vacation to stay with his uncle and encountered other guys in the area.
When I wrote these stories I remember them being extremely explicit.
The main protagonist D'antae (which I changed to D'Andre later) woke up one morning, the day after his graduation and beat his meat on the toilet in the bathroom, balls bouncing and all that until he busted a thick nut that swung from his his fingers. I don't remember how much detail I wrote but based on how I write things currently it probably was all over the place (no pun).
There were some other love interests D'Andre meets in his uncle's neighborhood and I do believe one of them became his boyfriend later but another one wanted him too and there was a little drama erupting or something like that.
I don't remember what age I was when I wrote the stories but it was probably in my early 20's (I'm 40 now). I started thinking about writing them all over again from the beginning and monetizing them as Black Gay Erotica.
However, I am wondering how many books about Black Gay Men are still out there? I thought about a watered down version for YouTube audio stories but then I hated the idea of censoring it heavily to get monetization.
I think I do have another platform in mind but I have to see how they treat written material with some pretty explicit content.

I went to a private gym before attending university and it was really nice. It was usually quiet, open 24 hours, and the owners recognized me within a few months.
I moved in order to attend my university, and it has so many more facilities. Rock climbing, a pool, basketball courts, countless other things, but all I want to do is weight training (and I force myself to do cardio every once in a while). It's always packed, even at 7am. Everything they have is modern and extremely high quality, but I kind of miss the broken machines and shitty weights. I have to wait to use the machines and people come up to me asking how many sets I have left. It's so weird, I never conversed with people before while working out because I'm in the zone, leave me tf alone. I've never heard so many slamming weights in my life. Every machine has 3 gymbros surrounding whoever is working out, waiting for them to finish their set. These assholes can't just workout on their own?
The only plus is the super hot girls (I'm a woman) that I get to admire and strive to achieve their bodies. I have never seen more perfect female physiques in my life.
