I’m asking this as I’m an apprentice mechanic (HGV/Trucks), and I didn’t understand a conclusion my mentor came to when guesswork diagnosing a defect. So we had a truck come in and the fault code was “Wheel Speed Sensor 2, Signal has too many pulses”.
We haven’t actually fixed it yet so I don’t know what the fault is, but basically I suggested to my mentor that it could be the reluctor ring at fault, maybe being clogged/blocked between the teeth (my line of thinking was of an amount of metal shavings were mixed into dirt/rust/buildup blocking the gaps in the teeth then it could induce more pulses than there otherwise should be).
He shut it down and instead suggested that it would be the ABS/Wheel Speed sensor instead either being faulty or the clearance between the ring/sensor being out of spec.
I didn’t want to question him on it because he can get quite funny with me sometimes when I question his judgement, so I thought I’d ask here instead - how a faulty inductive sensor could send out MORE pulses than there should be. Or how an inductive sensor on a reluctor ring could throw out more pulses than there should be, due to the clearance being slightly wrong? Like how would that create enough of a discrepancy in pulses generated to throw this fault?
I just didn’t understand the logic, and thought it would make more sense that inductive material is blocked in the gap between the teeth on the ring, generating more pulses than would otherwise be possible.
What do you guys think? I’m an apprentice so I would naturally assume that the other guy was right and I was wrong, as he’s been doing it longer and just knows more. I just didn’t understand what went into his line of thinking and want to learn more so I thought I’d ask here to see what you guys think and potentially get an explanation. Like I said, I would’ve asked him about it but he can get a bit defensive and confrontational if I ask him about his reasoning/judgement for certain things like this so it’s easier to not question it and then later search it up online to find an answer

Hey all! Bene loving the ROM so far and recently unlocked the Time Turner, and just working through the portal purge mission. One thing I've noticed is that the Time Turner doesn't actually seem to change my time at all when using MyBoy. The prompt comes up saying it has, but the time in the menu stays the same, and the day/night cycle doesn't change ingame. Any ideas on how to fix? 2025.01.24 11:37 gtgcya Mostly a shower thought, but has anybody else thought about boycotting YouTube entirely?
I am not sure what my alternative would be. I guess I'll go back to watching TV and movies. YouTube has been my primary source of entertainment for over a decade now. Anything I need information on, I would always just look it up on YouTube. It worked great! However, the ads feel more invasive than ever. I used to be able to put a long-form video on my TV at night and when I would wake up in the morning, it would still be on. Almost every night I wake up with the TV on now, it is just a really long ass ad playing. It is as if you have to manually be there to skip ads now, they can't just be 30 seconds to 1 minute long anymore. Almost every ad I get on my TV is 30 minutes to hours long.
What gives? I don't remember their system being this terrible. It makes it pretty unbearable as a viewer to deal with. I do have ad block on my PC, but I am obviously not going to be at my PC all of the time. I guess my point is, I miss when you used to be able to just let videos play and when the ads would come, they would last the length of an ad, not a fucking movie.
