Does anyone happen to know if there is a workaround for this? I know some were testing out 3rd party scanner devices or add-ons to phones at one point in time. Probably need some other hacks tossed in there to make them skip certain things in the software but yeah...
I dont know about you guys, but scanning cases of freight with a phone camera through me@walmart is fractionally efficient for me vs using a TC. Scanning freight to print labels for overstock clearly isnt' ideal.
Just curious. I'm sure others would like to know as well to regain some sanity.

Hey guys, the Reddit community has helped me immensely to build answers for my USA visa. Thus, I am giving back to you guys in the form of a detailed yet concise experience of mine, hope it helps everyone especially those applying from Mumbai.
My Background:- 23M, studying at a Government Medical School in Gujarat doing my MBBS. Have been to three countries- France, Hongkong and UAE.
My case is rather unique because there was a 1+ year gap between my biometrics and my consular appointment. Their new portal is exceptionally horrendous. After my biometrics on 10 December 2023, it was showing an error anytime I tried to reschedule the consular appointment. So I just let it be and attended my consular interview on 18th December, 2024. Mind you, I had booked the appointment way back in December 2022. Such insane is the waiting.
DS-160 related doubts- Yes, you do have to fill a new DS-160 form with all your new travel plans if the gap between your DS-160 submission date and biometrics appointment exceeds an year. Since most people have their biometrics appointment just within or less than a week from their consulate appointment, you can ask the biometrics people to update your ds-160. For those who are done with biometrics and then want to update a new DS-160, its also ok. Just carry the new DS-160 confirmation on the day of your interview and inform the officer. That is totally acceptable too. Just make sure you carry both your old and new DS-160 confirmation pages.
Fast forward to the day of the interview, 18/12/24. My in time was 7;50 AM and I was out by 9;40 AM, Not even 2 hours there. I suppose morning interviews get done faster than afternoon ones.
Please leave your electronics outside. Digital watches included. Analogue watches are fine. Dress in formals. DO NOT TALK TO ANYONE ONCE INSIDE THE CONSULATE. EVEN WITH YOU ACCOMPANYING FAMILY, ITS BEST TO HAVE VERY LIMITED TALKS BECAUSE RANDOM DISCUSSIONS MAY GET YOU NERVOUS.
The key to succeeding in it is to simply just treat it as a normal conversation. The hype around it is too much these days, and its definitely not some stellauphill task.
You have an option to choose your language for the interview. At the Mumbai consulate- Hindi, Marathi and Gujarati are readily available but even translators to other languages (Malayalam, Punjabi, Tamil etc) are available on demand.
I reached the Officers window. A 55-60 y/o white lady it was. She took our passports and scanned something.
Questions I was asked, in that order- So why are you travelling to the US? How long are you planning to stay? Which places will you be visiting? Is it a package tour or a self tour? What do you do? Who will pay for the trip?
Then she turned to my mom and asked her professional details since my mom is a doctor. She asked us individually, which countries did we visit and when?
That was it. She took our passports and approved our visas.
Some more tips:-
- If you're going with your family and you're the one managing the visas for all family members, it is best if you take the lead and start answering the VO's questions. The VO however, will almost certainly ask questions to every applicant after this.
- The breadwinner of the family must be versed well with their income as per ITR, Bank balance, and other investments. The primary income earner not being able to answer these questions is a suspicion and is NOT OK.
- Build a travel history. As an Indian passport holder,the USA is generally not the first country that will grant you a visa. Atleast visit one first world country (Schengen/Can/ Aus/UK/NZ) and 2-3 budget countries (UAE, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam etc). Almost everyone ahead of me was being asked about their prior travel. And so was I.
- As everyone says, never lie. A denial is infinite times better than a lie.
- If you're denied, politely ask the officer the reason for your denial, only once. If they tell you- well and good. If not, just leave.
- I know you all must definitely be knowing this, but do not argue with any of the security staff. A mid-60 y/o man was arguing with the security and line guiding staff. Not the best idea, trust me.
- Be calm, stay confident and remember that a US visa is just a piece of paper that won't define your worth. If you get it, well and good. If not, you have 160 other countries to explore barring the ones like Syria and Iraq :P.

Hello friends....I am new to this. I only just stumbled across MD today after a pretty rough day caused by my ridiculous daydreaming. Here I was in tears googling "how to stop daydreaming excessively".... and now and my mind is blown.
My story...if you can be bothered
I thought it was Limerence. You see, I recently managed to rid myself of a three-year bout of pretty intense Limerence... or was it ever Limerence at all (stay with me).
The initial Limerence kinda made sense. Ex boyfriend from high school (over 20 years ago btw) the "one who got away" reappears in my life, tells me I'm beautiful, flirts etc. nothing happens between us but that ONE interaction and then the weekly bumping into each other and saying hello gave me enough to build a story/narrative around his character and me.... it was debilitating...and that's an understatement. The daydreaming about this guy only recently stopped thanks to a major ick BUT mostly because I stumbled across a different person to dwell on and create escapism fantasies about in my head.
The object of my current Limerence is a guy who is definitely not my usual type...we do not make sense... people would be shocked that I'm even thinking about this person...he propositioned me, nothing happened, but he intrigued me, he gave me enough to snowball my private fantasy world. But today I was in tears because I could feel myself getting stuck in this state again and I don't have the energy for it. I don't want it to steal years again. I think the fact that this guy doesn't make sense is what has directed me to try and understand why the hell I get stuck in this pattern....like why the fuck am I daydreaming like this and why does it feel so good, so fucking soothing.
I'm convinced it's MD...and I feel a huge sense of relief. Why? because at least it's not about the object/s (there's been a few) of my affection (which I'm now realising aren't actually objects of my affection, they're characters in my daydreaming scripts) 🤯 those scripts are addictive, they soothe me, It takes me away from my reality, mostly when family pressures mount up and I'm on edge. I slip into the fantasies. Music on in the car usually. I have kids and I find I get irritated when they ask me questions while I'm mid daydream and I have to turn my music down answer their question then get back to where I left off 😳
Jeez it feels weird even admitting this somewhat anonymously. It's an escape from my reality. And my reality is pretty fucking amazing but I'm under a lot of stress and pressure and this is a pattern for me. A way to cope, to soothe.
I feel a sense of freedom now. Because when I thought it was Limerence I felt out of control. I felt like the only way to end it was for the fantasy to come true...which was a distressing thought given I'm in an awesome marriage....I felt trapped.
Now I feel like I can focus my energy on alternative ways to soothe. To cope. To be present in the moment.
It's a long road ahead and I'll be here in this community on the journey with you all x
