 | Good morning all, Wanting some advice here. I have an asus router that been giving me grief. My ISN is Shaw in Canada, and I have their modem in bridge mode, modem is connected by coax in my upstairs living room, this seemed to be the only live usable place when I moved. I would like to deploy a Unifi system with APs in some rooms. I have a coax and Ethernet port access in the wall of some rooms. I would like to do this in my basement , but I am very unsure what all this wiring is, I bought a cable tracker so I can determine which runs are which. Can I deploy a gateway in my basement? Hi everyone,
Long time lurker, first time poster.
I have currently been in an academic oncology position for the past 3 years. I have been been thinking about making the switch to private practice/multispecialty hospital based practice.
While I enjoy academics and the challenges that come with it, I am at a stage where I need to think about my long term plans. I spend well late into the night every night and even Saturday mornings writing manuscripts, grants, IST applications and CDAs. However, not seeing any financial benefit from this and I am starting to burn out. Clinically I am still seeing ~50 patients a week and inpatient consults every 5-6 weeks. A lot of my patients are complex. After dealing with notes, patient issues, insurance auths, P2Ps etc, the only time I have to do research is either at evening/night or weekends. And the research obligation keeps piling up (god forbid I take a weekend off to spend time with my kids)
I am under no delusion that private practice is not hard or busy. In fact, I'm sure I'll have to work harder than I am now. However, my thought is why I am working just as hard (at the least almost as hard as my amazing private practice colleagues), but getting paid at least 50% less? At least all of my time and focus and go towards patient care, and I wont have the lingering fear and stress about having to complete a grant or manuscript.
I have young kids and ~200K in student loans and a mortgage.
Although there will always be place in my heart for academics, and I truly enjoyed my years in academics. I know think it is the time to transition to private practice setting. I will need to beef up on the other cancers that I have not treated since fellowship, but I can dedicate time to this.
Wanted to ask this group what private practice is like? And to gather input into my decision and see if anyone thinks I'm making a completely wrong mistake?

Some twenty years ago, when I had to take what DVDs were available in my local store, I picked up Escaflowne (episodes 5 - 8). Despite having such a narrow glimpse of the show, it stuck with me all these years and so here I am, watching it in its entirety.
Ugh, such terrible writing. Vaughn is just about to destroy Dilandau, after Escaflowne has been repaired, and suddenly, with zero precedent in the established lore, the ghosts of Dilandau's minions come back and infect(?) Escaflowne?
This was the writers realising they'd backed themselves into a corner and they didn't know how to stop Vaugh from utterly wrecking Dilandau in a second, especially since the latter was actually petrified and unable to bring himself to do anything.

Does anyone have actual numbers for the maximum amount of DMT you could dissolve in 100ml or 1L of vinegar? Like could the vinegar from 1 kg of bark be reduced down to 100ml without precipitating out alkaloids? Or what is that actual absolute minimum?

This phrase drives me bonkers. 1) It doesn't add any value.
2) People say it all the time.
3) It seems like they are trying to inflate their own significance by adding over-used drama.
4) What does it even mean? Taken separately -- each word has its own rating:
"Way" makes sense. It can pass. I didn't mean to hurt you in any way. "Shape?" WTF? I didn't mean to hurt you in any shape. "Form?" Minorly Ok, tolerable. A little self-important, but at least it's accurate. I didn't mean to hurt you in any form.4b) Put back together, it is a redundant, self-important, and unnecessary puff of hot air.

Ich brauche bitte dringend einen Ratschlag, ob ich das M2 in diesem Frühjahr machen soll oder nicht! Meine Situation ist folgende:
Das M2 startet am 09.04.25. Ich bin gerade erst scheinfrei geworden. Ich wollte eigentlich vieeeeeeeel früher und im laufenden, letzten Semester mit dem Lernen anfangen. Allerdings hatte ich bis vor einigen Tagen noch Pflichtveranstaltungen und Prüfungen. Ich habe generell leider sehr große Probleme mit meiner Motivation und Selbstdisziplin. Jetzt sind es noch 74 Tage bis zum M2. Heute bin ich an Lerntag 7 von 100. Ich hänge also 19 Tage hinterher. Und ich wollte eigentlich noch Tage zum Wiederholen und Pause machen einplanen. Ich stecke also mächtig in der Klemme. (Mal wieder). Jetzt frage ich mich, ob ich mir das überhaupt antun soll - mit dem Risiko, dass ich es nicht schaffe und durch den Stress mental komplett kaputt gehe. Oder ob ich meine Anmeldung zurückziehen und das M2 im Oktober schreiben soll. Ich möchte eigentlich endlich mit diesem Studium fertig werden! Und ich hasse mich dafür, dass ich jetzt in dieser Situation stecke. Bitte gebt mir einen Ratschlag. Ich kann nicht gut einschätzen, wie zeitumfänglich das alles ist. Wäre es unter diesen Umständen machbar? Oder soll ich es lassen?

How G can just file for all these PO orders. IMO if she is not granted she should have to refund the peoples travel expenses, attorney etc. how can someone be allowed to constantly do this and at the end of the day, when she loses, the other people have to pay for her complete nonsense. This actually infuriates me. It shouldn’t cost the other person a damn dime if she brought them there and it’s unfounded. Maybe she would stop if she had to pay out after.
