I didn’t really think about it during my first watch but after seeing the most recent season and then going back to the beginning of the show and eventually seeing them again it makes literally no sense that they make it seem like they have this life long friendship where they know each other better than anyone else when they were literally friends for ?? I've been a longtime fan of this chaotic and mysterious world that is Touhou. Whether it's reading about mangas, games, or even discussions among fans about lore, something has been popping into my mind from time to time.
If you've read some character profiles, mangas, and even books, you know that Touhou has always had a dark side to its plot (something that I particularly love). And something that has always caught my attention was the outsiders. Like, people are literally sent alive to be devoured by youkais, and that's at best since the official wiki says that some youkais "play" with their victims before killing them (interpret that however you want).
That's when the question arose: "What if ZUN had the courage to create an outsider protagonist, where we see their sides of the story?"
And if you think that Subaru from Re:zero suffers... just imagine, you're a lonely person who already struggles to live every day. However, on another dull day, you simply open your eyes and find yourself in a place filled with greenery and blue skies. It seems beautiful, doesn't it? Well, that is until a 300-year-old freak comes to you and does who knows what. Hahaha, that's what you call the famous "villain's past".
Please, no discussion about "this character is stronger because"; we know that in Touhou, that's the same as nothing. I want to know your opinion on this, after all...the outsiders could be any of us, right?

People like Demis, Jensen and Satya seem to be saying that the current concept of the internet and applications will be changing very soon. Instead of scrolling and clicking around like we do currently, we'll be interacting with our own agents who generate the content who then interact with other agents and report back to you. This is instead of going to a web site to find static info and then taking some action, like watching the same video that a lot of other people see or buying an item etc.
It's an interesting idea, and perhaps is what it has been like for wealthy people for hundreds of years already i.e. they instructed human personal assistants to do their bidding rather than go and do a thing themselves?
I do wonder if these kind of ideas are failing to recognise some basic human behaviour though: most of us, in most situations default to wanting to look around, see what other humans are doing (which ever person or group we want to be accepted by), and copying what they do, whether that be accent, clothing style, entertainment consumption, behavioural habits or political leanings. Some people might enjoy the infinite novelty, personalisation and creativity that could be experienced by having an intelligent agent, but won't most people, most of the time, just want to be on the same portals where the rest of thier affiliated group (human or otherwise) are "hanging out", and experience the same stimuli on the same interface etc? Our desire to feel like we're the same as some other person or group is pretty strong, I think.
