hey everyone, this is probably a post that has been done to death, please forgive me if this has been posted about before
i've been trying to install the update mentioned in the title, i've tried restarting my computer, downloading the .msu file (it didn't install the updates for some reason and didn't give any other information besides that it failed), i'm currently trying the media creating tool, however i just wanted to see if there were any other steps that i've been missing. this update's been taking me forever to try to figure out, and it's been a huge pain in my ass to try to figure out.
any help is appreciated, thank you

Does anybody know what happened to the STL8 FC Facebook group? Went to check it after a couple days of not seeing it pop up in my feed and for some reason it’s completely gone. Don’t really have anybody I’m friends with there either so I can’t really ask around, figured I could ask here instead.

Cleawhite nail polish racks or shelves Hello! Just wanted to post and see if anyone local had some nail polish racks similar to the photo that they aren’t using. I’m looking to up my painting station and to display my miniature paints. they are a similar size to nail polish so I figured it would be an easy display method. Thanks in advance!

2025.01.24 17:30 rgt84 Duet 5 wi-fi slows down time to time

The computar os a Lenovo duet 5 with 8gb of RAM. The first image shows the ping (running on Linux VM) to my local server with wifi_power_save disabled. The second image shows the ping to the local server over ethernet but It also represents the scenario when connected to the phone via USB cabelo (and sharing connection) and the phone connected to the AP over wi-fi.
From time to time the ping reaches ~150ms wich disrupts (or makes It Impossible) to use Xbox (Android app and console in my network) streaming or ssh applications on a local server
Any idea on how to improve wi-fi response?
Thanks in advande. And sorry for the bad english.

2025.01.24 17:30 Abject_Routine5431 Should I be worried about my partner’s comments post-election?

My partner seems unconcerned and unbothered post-election. I’ve expressed my anxeity to them around the administration’s proposed policies, but they always brush me off and tell me not to worry.
Yesterday, they said that we’re a straight cis couple and we have nothing to worry about.
This really bothered me. I think that we will be affected by at least some of these legal changes, especially those targeted toward women. I was more bothered by the fact that he wasn’t concerned for our friends or family who fall into other groups who will be affected.
Is this cause for concern, or am I just worrying?

2025.01.24 17:30 mindartify Struggling to Stay Consistent? The ‘Never Miss Twice’ Rule Will Change Your Life..

We’ve all been there. You start a new habit with enthusiasm—going to the gym, eating healthy, waking up early. Then life happens. You miss a day. You tell yourself, “It’s just one day.”
But one day turns into two... two into a week… and before you know it, you’ve lost momentum and you're back to square one, feeling frustrated and defeated.
But what if I told you there’s a simple, fail-proof strategy that can help you stay on track no matter what?
It’s called the ‘Never Miss Twice’ Rule.
👉 Miss once? That’s okay. Just don’t let it happen twice.
Skipped your workout today? No problem—just make sure you hit it tomorrow.
Ate junk food at lunch? That’s fine—make dinner a healthy one.
Overslept your alarm? Reset and get up on time the next morning.
It’s not about perfection; it’s about progress.
Why This Rule Works (And Why You Need It Right Now)
The beauty of the 'Never Miss Twice' rule is that it eliminates the “all or nothing” mindset that keeps us trapped in cycles of guilt and inconsistency.
When you miss a day, your brain might say, "Well, I’ve already messed up, so I might as well give up entirely." This rule helps you shift your thinking and focus on bouncing back instead of beating yourself up.
Here’s why it works:

  1. It Trains Your Brain for Long-Term Success
Studies in habit formation show that occasional slip-ups don’t break a habit—but repeated ones do. The key is to recover quickly before the habit fades away.
  1. It Builds Self-Discipline Without Overwhelm
You’re not forcing yourself to be perfect. You’re simply committing to never letting one miss turn into a pattern. This mindset builds resilience over time.
  1. It Helps You Stay Motivated and In Control
No more guilt-tripping yourself or feeling like a failure. When you apply this rule, you stay in control and regain your momentum without pressure.
How to Use the ‘Never Miss Twice’ Rule Right Now
  1. Acknowledge the Miss (Without Guilt) – It happens. You’re human. Accept it and move forward.
  2. Plan the Next Step Immediately – Don’t wait. Decide how you’ll get back on track tomorrow.
  3. Make It Easy to Succeed – Scale down your effort if needed (e.g., do a 10-minute workout instead of skipping entirely).
  4. Visualize Your Progress – Use a habit tracker to remind yourself of your streaks and how bouncing back keeps you consistent.
Real-Life Example: My Story
I used to struggle with staying consistent at the gym. I'd start strong, but missing one day would spiral into missing weeks. Then I discovered the ‘Never Miss Twice’ rule.
If I missed a session due to a busy day, I committed to showing up the next day no matter what. Sometimes it was a full workout, sometimes it was just stretching—but I never let two days pass without action.
Fast forward a few months, and I finally built the habit without the usual guilt and frustration.
Your Turn
Next time you miss a habit, remember: once is a mistake, twice is a habit.
What’s one habit you’re working on that you’ll apply this rule to? Let’s hold each other accountable—share your thoughts below and let’s stay consistent together!

2025.01.24 17:30 Alternative-Top2026 Utahns If You Care About the Legislature, Watch the Appropriations Committees

With the legislative session underway, there’s been a lot of focus on the standing committees and their policy discussions. While those are important, the appropriations committees are where the real, impactful decisions are being made. If you want to know what’s really happening in the state and what our legislature is prioritizing, watching the appropriations meetings is key. Sure, they can be a bit dry at times, but understanding where the money is being cut and what’s getting funded is crucial for every Utahn to stay informed. You can find a full list of the appropriations committees and their meeting schedules at le.utah.gov. All meetings are streamed live and recorded, so it’s easy to stay in the loop.

2025.01.24 17:30 AffectionateSky3662 Am I the only one having trouble deciding?

Hey Crusader!
My group and I will soon start a new Crusade and while everyone kinda always seems to know exactly what faction they wanna play and even how their starting warband is gonna look, I struggle heavily.
Nearly every day a new faction between like a close 3-5 jumps into my mind with new ideas and things that could be fun... And I always doubt the first 1K starting Warband I come up with on New Recruit. It's such a pain how my brain works in this regard.
Am I the only one out there with this problem? How do you decide on your faction to play in Crusade if you have multiple? How do you decide on what your starting Warband looks like? How do you keep your brain from switching countless times?
Just wanna spark some conversation and discussion around this topic with a glimmer of hope some may have helpful words for me haha.

2025.01.24 17:30 CHY1970 the Nature of Wisdom

Title: Decoding the Nature of Wisdom: Information Compression, Human Intelligence, and the Future of AI
Introduction Language, in all its forms—spoken, written, or visual—is a medium through which humans describe, transmit, and process information. But beneath the words and images lies a profound challenge: information compression. The ability to distill vast amounts of data into concise, meaningful formats is not only a technological problem but a fundamental philosophical question. It strikes at the heart of what we consider wisdom and intelligence.
By exploring the nature of information compression, we gain insights into the essence of wisdom and the similarities and differences between human intelligence and artificial intelligence (AI). The interplay between the two presents a fascinating competition: how can humans and AI process information more efficiently, and what does this competition reveal about the future of intelligence?
The Philosophical Foundations of Information Compression At its core, wisdom can be viewed as the ability to condense the complexities of the world into manageable, actionable knowledge. This process involves stripping away noise, identifying patterns, and distilling the essence of information. Philosophically, this mirrors nature’s tendency to favor simplicity and elegance, as seen in physical laws, biological processes, and evolutionary adaptations.
In human cognition, this compression is evident in:

The art of compression is not merely about reducing size—it is about minimizing distortion. This balancing act is a reflection of intelligence itself: the ability to represent reality faithfully while simplifying it for efficient use.
Human Wisdom vs. Machine Efficiency As humans, our cognitive abilities have evolved under constraints of memory, time, and energy. These limitations shape how we compress and process information. In contrast, AI systems, unbound by biological constraints, approach compression and processing from a purely computational perspective.
Key Differences
  1. Contextual Understanding Humans excel at contextualizing information. A story, a metaphor, or a piece of art can convey layers of meaning shaped by culture and experience. AI, while improving, still struggles to fully grasp this richness.
  2. Lossy vs. Lossless Compression Human cognition often employs "lossy" compression—retaining only the most relevant aspects of information for practical decision-making. AI, depending on its design, can perform either lossy or lossless compression with remarkable precision, but its criteria for relevance are strictly defined by its programming.
  3. Flexibility vs. Speed Humans rely on intuition and adaptability when encountering novel problems. AI systems, optimized for speed and scalability, can process vast datasets but often require retraining or reprogramming to adapt to unfamiliar situations.
The Nature of Wisdom in AI and Humanity Wisdom is not merely the ability to compress information; it is the ability to use that compression to anticipate the future effectively. This predictive capacity is where human intelligence and AI often diverge.
The interplay of these predictive approaches raises important questions. Can AI learn to incorporate the depth of human wisdom? Or will its reliance on quantifiable data always limit its perspective?
Challenges in the Era of AI-Human Competition
  1. The Arms Race of Compression As AI systems become better at compressing and analyzing information, humans must find ways to retain their unique strengths—such as creativity and ethical reasoning—while leveraging AI’s computational advantages.
  2. Ethical Compression In the pursuit of efficiency, AI systems might inadvertently strip away critical context or nuance, leading to decisions that are effective but ethically flawed. Ensuring that AI respects the complexity of human values is a pressing challenge.
  3. Shared Wisdom The future may depend not on competition but collaboration. By combining human intuition with AI's processing power, we could create systems that integrate the best of both worlds, leading to more effective and equitable solutions.
The Future of Wisdom: Toward a Unified Intelligence The essence of wisdom lies in understanding and anticipating the world with clarity and precision. Both humans and AI strive toward this goal, albeit through different means. However, the integration of these approaches may hold the key to unlocking unprecedented levels of insight.
In this vision, AI becomes an extension of human intelligence, enhancing our ability to process information, identify patterns, and predict outcomes. By collaborating with AI, humanity can focus on the philosophical, ethical, and creative dimensions of intelligence, ensuring that wisdom remains not just efficient but also meaningful.
Conclusion Information compression is more than a technical challenge; it is a window into the nature of wisdom itself. By exploring the similarities and differences between human and artificial intelligence in processing information, we can better understand our place in a rapidly evolving world. As we navigate this new era, the ultimate question is not whether humans or AI will dominate but how we can work together to create a future defined by shared wisdom and collective progress.
