Colegas do sub, eu tenho zero experiência com renda fixa que não fosse pedir pro meu gerente de conta colocar no CDB do próprio banco. Eu tenho a intenção sincera de investir um salário mínimo, todo santo mês, daqui até basicamente o infinito... falta só saber se que vou conseguir.
Mas supondo que eu consiga, o que vocês recomendam? Como você operacionalizaria isso? Um investimento pro futuro distante (digamos que pra própria aposentadoria) me parece que deveria ser tesouro direto indexado na inflação, ou não?
Não tenho conta em corretoras, como vocês fazem? Algum app? Me dêem informações que ao menos me tirem do zero e dêem um norte pra começar a pesquisar.

Assalamu alaikoum. I really admire people who know what they want and go for it, of course, everything is in the hands of Allah, but it must be nice to have dreams, aspirations, and goals that keep you going... At the ripe age of 29 and I'm still lost..I know that most people go through this...In my case, it is becoming a real obstacle... I don't really know whether I actually want to get married or not, want to start a family or not, want children or not...I can never figure it out....Alhamdulilah, Deen is genuinely a blessing, and getting closer to Allah has helped me do a lot of reality checks when it comes to my persona and character; however, I still don't know what I actually want from this wordly life. I can't also figure out exactly what I feel towards people in my life...and that's also not helping in terms of marriage "search" or building meaningful friendships... Thank God, I can feel empathy towards others because of past experiences and wanting the best for everyone just as Allah and the Prophet pbuh had guided us. When the word "love" though comes to my mind, I can only genuinely feel it when calling upon Allah....but with people, it's just completely vague... I'm working a lot on myself to heal from my past traumas and I'm really proud of the amount of progress I have made alhamdulilah...unfortunately, this and unconscious self-sabotage are still my ultimate issues, because it just makes me feel less human for some reason. Anyway, may Allah make it easy for everyone struggling :)

My friend had opened a PPF with Bank of Baroda when she was a resident and as an NRI now she wants to close the PPF and transfer the proceeds to her NRO account at Icici. Bank of Baroda says the only way to cash out is by opening an NRO account with their bank? Is this correct. She has no intention of opening another NRO account.
Is there a way around?

ICE is being authorized to raid schools and other safe places whilst birthright citizenship is being attacked. It’s alarming to see people online defending this because “their parents broke the law.”
What kind of laws were the Jews breaking in Nazi Germany? Was their “punishment” just? Man, I am just so sick of trying to reason with unreasonable people.
The bottom line for me, I think, is that America prides itself on its entrepreneurial spirit. What is more entrepreneurial than saying, “hey honey, we have to find a better life. Let’s try going to America and see if fortune will favor us there.” What is more American than taking an opportunity? America was founded on breaking the law, lol. Remember the Boston tea party? Was that lawful?

I'm from a foreign country and began working my first job in the United States after obtaining my Employment Authorization Document.
When filling out my Form W-4, I should NOT claim an exemption to federal tax withholding, right?
What confused me was that the instructions state: "You may claim exemption from withholding for 2025 if you meet both of the following conditions: you had no federal income tax liability in 2024 and you expect to have no federal income tax liability in 2025."
I initially interpreted this to mean that I could claim an exemption because I had no "tax liability" from the previous year (when I wasn't working in the U.S. whatsoever) and I didn't expect to have "tax liability," because I thought "tax liability" was when you ended up still owing the IRS money after it processed your tax return. In other words, I did not expect to have "tax liability" because I thought "tax liability" referred to a scenario in which the IRS deems that you have an outstanding balance owing on top of all the taxes you've paid through deductions from your paycheck throughout the year.
But I was misunderstanding "tax liability," wasn't I? I will have federal income tax liability in 2025 because "tax liability" in this context just means I'll owe the federal government taxes, correct?

2025.01.24 23:11 Double_Description19 Am I over reacting for wanting to cut contact with one of my close friends after he named two female characters in a porn game after my Mother and Sister?
Just before I make this post I want to say that English is not my first language.
One of my close friend's Albert (Who is 18 years old) recently messaged me (16 years old) that he wanted to show me something. Me, Him and some other friend have a discord group together that we regularly talk in and he asked me to join him in said group. I did and what he showed me deeply hurt me.
He said to join his stream and look at what he was playing. I did and at first I just thought he was streaming some porn game he found and didn't think much of it. But then in the corner of my eye I saw one of the female characters name and Alberts characters name, It was my Mom's name as the female character and he used his own name as the main characters name.
I said Wtf and started to get angry at him. I told him to change the names immediately. Then came another female character. She had my Sister's name. At this point I was really pissed of and I started to insult him.
He said that the "others" forced him to name them this and that they would release embarrassing pictures of him if he didn't do it. I started to apologize for getting angry without knowing the full story.
Some time later, David (18 years old) joined. I asked him if he forced Albert to do what he did. David got confused and said "No, I was only in the call when Albert wrote the names" and that he didn't suggest with names or threaten with embarrassing pictures at all. Albert started to swear up and down that they forced him. David also started swearing up and down that it was only Albert that did it.
I excused myself and left the call. I later called up the others and asked for their story. Every single one of them said the same thing which was Albert did the whole thing alone.
I rejoined the call with Albert and David and said to Albert "Dude be honest with me, If you lie we will stop being friends" I asked him again and he said that he was forced to do it. I said "Fuck you dude" and left.
He started to message and call me saying that he was innocent. But later that night he started apologizing for what he did.
The part that get's me mad is not that he named the characters after my Mom and Sister. But that he lied to my face, He swore up and down on everything that he was innocent.
Albert has known me for 3 years and he has met my whole family. He also attended my parent's wedding. To think that he thought of my Mom and Sister in a sexual way fucking disgust me to my core. I later looked up the game and saw that it included "non consensual sexual acts" with the characters that was named after my Mom and Sister.
He later messaged me again saying that "It was just a joke" and that I should "Stop being so sensitive"
Around that time the others started calling me and asked if I was mad at them. I said that I wasn't and that even if they told him to stop he would probably do it anyway.
It is just a game so maybe im overreacting? I need advice on what to do next!

— the most obvious is Michael C Hall as David, and then as Dexter. But here are some more SFU/Dexter connections I notice.
— Roger Pasquese’s daughter in the show is played by Vanessa Marano, who then played Rebecca Mitchell (Trinity Killer’s Daughter in Dexter).
— Shawn Hatosy, who played the Dexter villian Boyd Fowler in S5, made an appearance in an episode in season 1. He plays the boyfriend of the movie star actress who overdoses in the bathroom.
— Scott Buck, who wrote and produced for Six Feet Under, later went on to serve as the main showrunner for Dexter seasons 6-8.
— Julia Stiles, who plays Lumen Pierce in Dexter, makes a cameo appearance in a movie trailer when David, Claire, and her friend go to the movie theatre. David has a panic attack not long after and leaves.
Anyone know why there are so many connections? Or does anyone have any other connections I didn’t mention?
