At this point, I'm trying to focus on the future. We know it'll be a tough fight. Many people will suffer under America's current regime, but it's all pain we've seen before. While that's terrifying in its own way, I can at least look at it and feel some comfort that I know about what'll happen next. But what I'm most worried about is what happens after.
Like, once the fascists have been kicked out, by legalize or (more likely) force, will anyone have learned? Not enough people learned after the first term, but even then, I know some rural communities voted fascist because the Dems abondoned them and, while I whole heartedly disagree, I can tell myself they'd vote better if given the option. It feels safe to say that some part of the election was probably faulty whether from Musk or Russia. But there's still a vast majority of people who haven't learned better, people who are somewhat indifferent until the Nazis win and are quick to comply. People who think egg prices are going down any day now.
If they don't learn in the next few years, they'll probably never learn and god knows 'elite' Americans won't ever truely reject their oligarchs. Who'd fund the Dems?
I just wanna feel somewhat confident that America will take after Germany, as an example, learn from this nightmare and make preventing it from ever reading it's ugly head again a part of their national identity.
Then there's Canada (I'm Canadian) and the fear of our conservatives winning. I think I saw they had an incredibly low approval rate, but that won't mean much if our Liberals don't get their asses in gear & choose a competent party leader. I'm so scared we'll slide closer to Trumpism.
