So I'm posting this mostly just to vent my frustration and let go of some negative feelings, but I also hope it can help other people who see it if they have a similar experience.
I've only just begun to unpack and sort through a portion of the messed up romance-related trauma from my childhood. Mostly because I've only recently realized it even WAS trauma, and that it WAS messed up.
My parents used to tease me about "crushes" I had on actors as a preteen. What was actually happening was that I was super into a couple of TV shows at the time and really enjoyed the characters portrayed by some of the actors, so I would sometimes cheer when the opening credits came up and showed the actors' names.
The actors, of course, were often in their 20s and 30s, and at the time I didn't realize a lot of other kids regularly had celebrity crushes on people in those age groups. All I knew was that my parents seemed to be implying that I, a child, wanted to be in a relationship with adults who were multiple times my own age, and that their reaction to the idea of that happening was to laugh and joke about it. It made me feel sick.
After the first time they reacted that way I immediately stopped cheering when the credits came up, but I still caught them grinning sometimes, so I pretty much stopped watching those shows when they were around. I used to have moments of panic and then outward stoicism following every time I got "too excited" over an actor's great performance, and it started to bleed over into the rest of my life until I felt like I couldn't enjoy anything without looking over my shoulder to make sure no one was watching.
I think this kind of thing - parents teasing their kids about real or imaginary crushes - is just so common and so normalized that most parents don't realize that they could be hurting their kids by doing it.

Wearing Shirt, Pant, Hoodie, Jeans, Sneakers are good but shorts and skirts are western culture.
Told from childhood to learn good English but when you can't speak perfect Hindi - you are "angrez ka choda" All books are in English, your phone's language is in English.
We want to wear western clothes, eat their food, talk their talk and live their live and we still hate western culture? why? What exactly is Indian culture?

I’ve got a 2003 Suburban with the catalytic converter cut off and straight piped together. I want to make it sound better without being obnoxiously loud. I don’t know much at all about exhaust systems, but I’m looking for the most cost-efficient way to get a deep, clean rumble. I’ve heard of Cherry Bombs, but not sure if that’s the best route. 2025.01.29 02:43 jumpinjehoshophat Host shutdown causes VM shutdown on another host
I have 2 nodes HA clustered with an RPi acting as a quorum vote node but am having an unusual behaviour when I reboot one of the hosts.
I have a few VM's setup with ZFS storage and live migration works fine between the two hosts.
I normally have the VMs on host 1, I can then update and reboot host 2 fine. I migrate the VMs to host 2, update host 1 but then when I reboot host 1 it causes the VMs on host 2 to power off and then they get powered back on when host 1 re-joins the cluster.
Is there a setting I fudged or havent configured properly? Surely they should stay running on the other host. Do I need to reboot the host in a different manner or something?
I just ran an apt dist-upgrade and then reboot now afterwards
Any help would be great, thanks!

Will defunding planned parenthood cause them to shut down?
Trump signed an executive order that would freeze federal funding. This would impact planned parenthood. Currently, the freeze was blocked temporarily by a federal judge. To my understanding, planned parenthood will still likely lose federal funding when it resumes. I am not on health insurance that relies on federal funding, so i will still be able to afford my HRT perscriptions, but im worried that this will cause locations to close. Will this cause them to stop providing gender affirming care? Will losing federal funding cause some or all locations to shut down?

I got a new job that started July 2024. My previous salary was 110K and new salary is 115K. I am wondering how my 2024 taxes will be impacted? I believe from July-December 31 I grossed ~58k… I am assuming I was undertaxed in the sense that I would only be paying taxes as if my total annual income was only 58k? Is this correct?
