(20M) at 5'1 120lb here. I've gone my entire life with people telling me "short people are successful" and "You'll find someone your height" or the standard "Shorty" or whatever name you can imagine. I've been called it all. I don't recall when my last height spurt, but I know I stopped growing in height right before I moved, which was around 7 years ago, so I've been stuck this way ever since. My mother is 5'5 and my father 5'6. My grandparents are all between 5'6 and 6'0, so I guess this has nothing to do with genetics. I'm unsure of how to navigate life as a short dude, especially since I'm in college now and can't find anybody that actually takes me seriously because everyone towers me. I hate it so so much like I've been trying to date for 3+ years now and no woman wants me what do I do? I dress nicely, wear a semi-lux watch, wear a belt, fashion myself to my hair, what am I doing wrong? Do I just look unattractive, or is it the impending doom that's been crawling my back for 5+ years that I'm just in that small sub-category of people who are shorter than they need to be and it's seen as detrimental by society and woman. And for reference, haven't even kissed. So... let's go off that basis. I'm tired of being fed excuses I just want to navigate my life normally but I kept being told on about my height like it's some obtuse gnome in a garden scenario. What can I do to restore my buried, destroyed, lackluster confidence? I put myself out there as this really nice guy but it always ends up coming back round to my height. I want people to start ignoring it and treat me as a human being.

Hello all, we are under a boil advisory with no end in sight, but are due for a water change. I tried to google it but couldn’t really find any good information. Are we better off boiling the tap water and waiting for it to cool or just using bottled water? We’ve read that bottled water can have additives and is not really recommended, and at this point we are more familiar with the parameters of our tap water (PH/KH, etc) but I don’t know if there’s additional risk to the fish.
Pic of our boy below. His name is Ankle and we just brought him home a week or so ago. He’s full or personality and we are really enjoying him. This will be the first water change with him home.

Hace 6 meses conocí a una muchacha por Tinder y comenzamos a salir y todo salió muy bien conectamos y comenzamos una relación, aunque yo nunca le pedí que fuéramos novios, dado las cosas que hacíamos y como nos comporta vamos yo daba por hecho que si.
Me tocó irme del país por motivos de estudio y continuamos la relación a distancia teníamos videollamadas todos los días y todo el día hablábamos por Whatsapp, en octubre - noviembre tenía tanta carga académica que me tocó tomar tiempo para salir de trabajos finales ya no podía contestarle tan rápido y no podía hacer videollamada tan seguido.
Ella se lo tomó persona y pensó que yo me quería alejar de ella, aún cuando siempre le expliqué lo que estaba pasando, y en noviembre conoció a otra persona en Bogotá y terminaron siendo pareja, pero ella me lo oculto hasta enero, en diciembre volvimos a la rutina de antes de hablar todo el día y frecuentar las videollamadas y ella me celaba y todo, yo no sabía que ya incluso le había presentado el novio a su familia.
En enero por una discusión que tuvimos me confesó que llevaba tiempo saliendo con alguien y que ya no sentía nada romántico por mi que me veía como un amigo, yo lo entendí y decidí alejarme de ella, pero una semana después volvió a hablarme y quedamos en tratarnos como amigos.
Pero ella se enoja cuando hablo con otra mujer, o sabe que tengo contacto con una, por ejemplo este semestre una chica de Colombia comenzará a estudiar aquí y me encargaron de ayudarla y eso a ella le molestó y se enojo conmigo, cuando le envío un pantallazo y sale el nombre de una mujer la busca por las redes sociales y la estalquea. No la entiendo si tiene novio.
En diciembre comencé a entrenar en el gimnasio y al día de hoy se me comienzan a notar los cambios físicos, y ella me está pidiendo fotos sin camisa que quiere verme esos cambios y se pone intensa con el tema, y ahora quiere que volvamos a hacer videollamadas.
No entiendo por qué se comporta de esa manera si tiene novio, y en la mínima oportunidad que tiene me lo presume y habla maravillas de el, por qué son así de complicadas ?

So my 2024 trailblazer just stopped in the middle of the highway. Everything went black, breaks and engine stopped working, couldn’t even stop the car. Luckily there was roadworks and I rolled right into unused roads. Getting a tow to the dealer but here are the error messages my app is showing:

2025.01.29 03:00 abyssall-art329 Rant abt the suddenly evil hero trope.
I absolutely despise the trope where the MC gets isekaid, and they're not the hero, but the actual hero is actually the biggest jerk in the land and steals and hurts the dude's harem or something equivalent to that. And what's worse is how I usually see how the MC handles it. Instead of making it a way to look into how the MC is as a character, it's usually just them beating up and humbling the ex-hero.
My complaints about the trope are the fact that usually, there's no good reason for them to be out of character. They just are so the MC can seem more cool and nice and likable. But they often do it in a way that also makes the MC look badass asl. And it irks me. Cuz I'm all for two-faced characters. But when it's done for no other reason than to put the MC up on a pedestal. There's no characterization or lore of the "hero". He either gets killed off/beaten up or just becomes an occurring antagonist.
I love it when people break tropes. I really do. But when it's executed terribly, it's hard to care about the plot. In short. please make the evil hero trope make sense 😢
(PS:I would also like a story where the hero isn't always portrayed as bad. And even have him as the MC's friend.)

My best friend is in an LDR set up with her boyfriend for the last 3 years, they usually just meet 3-4x a year outside the Philippines. The strong, independent, woman type, yet she's very spoiled by her bf. They have plans to get married and settle down next year.
