Me siento incomoda y quiero bloquearlo.
No lo soporto y lo quiero lejos de mi vida.

2025.01.29 05:57 ilikeeeblue German newspaper article on the rise of self-diagnosis (+ translation)
translation: “Don’t Strive for an Autism Diagnosis” More and more people are diagnosing themselves with ADHD or autism. Devon Price is convinced that he is autistic. Devon Price is a social psychologist and an associate professor at a Catholic university in Chicago. But online, he is primarily known for a part of his identity that he only discovered as an adult: Price is autistic. He avoids phone calls, communicates only via email, and questions the necessity of clinical diagnoses. In his American bestseller Unmasking Autism, he recounts how a family vacation in 2014 changed his life. For the first time, his cousin mentioned the suspicion that autism might be common in their family. Price describes his pre-self-diagnosis self as deeply lonely, struggling with eating disorders, and unhappy with his gender identity. But after that family vacation, he began obsessively researching autism. Now, he is certain: “My entire life and almost every challenge I have faced can be explained by the fact that I was always trying to hide my autistic traits.” Self-Diagnosis Instead of a Doctor’s Visit According to Google, search interest in the term “autism” has increased by 110% and “ADHD” by 20% compared to the previous year. The combination of “autism” and “self-test” has also seen a rise. However, it is not actually possible to diagnose oneself with ADHD without medical assistance. While there are reputable online questionnaires about the condition—such as the ASRS-V1.1, developed by the World Health Organization—a positively answered questionnaire alone is far from a diagnosis. Even for experts. Doctors who deal with ADHD diagnoses almost daily report that patients often experience profound relief upon receiving a possible diagnosis. One specialist describes how tears often flow. Self-Diagnosis as a Response to a Societal Trend A (self-)diagnosis can explain why someone missed the application deadline for their dream job or why their apartment remains messy. Lukas Maher, a psychotherapist, believes the hype around self-diagnoses and ADHD is a reaction to a society where optimization is everything and stagnation is seen as laziness. “The diagnosis provides relief,” says medical ethicist Giovanni Maio from the University of Freiburg. However, he considers self-diagnoses not only nonsensical but also dangerous. “Illness is not a concept that one can simply define for oneself,” says Maio. Being ill means being entitled to certain expectations from others—consideration and even treatment. The latter, however, is lost in self-diagnosis. A Sense of Powerlessness in a Flawed Healthcare System But obtaining a clinical diagnosis is not easy: overcrowded clinics, the need for elementary school report cards, or conversations with parents and childhood friends—all of these are hurdles in the process. This is the weak point that self-diagnosis advocates like Devon Price focus on." The Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung (FAZ) is one of Germany’s most respected and influential newspapers, it's center- right. 2025.01.29 05:57 MillerMan118 Recommendation for new user
Hello, first and foremost I would like to say that I have read the salvia guide and also a lot of posts on this subreddit, including the first time users q and a post. So I’m not trying to retrod old territory but looking for some pointers.
I am trying to use old sally to see what ways it can enhance my meditation practice. I recently ordered 15g dry leaf from SD to test it out. I was very excited when it came and I tried it out probably around 4pm. Quidded 2.5g for 15 mins. Did the gym brushing and the alcohol trick prior, chewed consistently and kept it on my lower gums/behind tongue. It was pretty bitter stuff but not too bad. Still, it didn’t do anything. I had heard of the reverse tolerance so I wasn’t completely shocked and came back to it at 9pm. In the meantime I had read a lot of posts on this subreddit, and my idea was to get it going I might be able to prime myself with some bowls of just smoking it. I know the leaf isn’t supposed to be terribly strong for smoking but I cleared 3 bowls and felt pretty much the exact same. Then I took 3.5g and chewed for 20 mins, still nothing. Pretty disappointed but I was like whatever, try again tomorrow.
So just a little bit ago I did the same thing, cleared 3 bowls and then chewed 5g (this wa s not pleasant) for 20 mins… and still absolutely zilch.
So my questions are: Am I chewing/smoking lawn clippings? Am I immune to salvia? Is the reverse tolerance just super slow? Is it possible the reason it isn’t working is becuase my current life is a salvia trip? What should I do to increase my chances of success at this point?
I’m pretty much out of the leaf so I’ll have to buy more. I first bought 25g from SS and it never came, been 26 days. I heard you have to be patient with this stuff but holy smokes.
Any tips would be appreciated. Thanks.
P.S. I used a torch and I meditated while quidding

2025.01.29 05:57 BecMcG Cracked tooth syndrome treatment options?
I’m 29F who doesn’t smoke. Relatively healthy.
My 2nd upper molar (# 27) has been causing me a bit of pain lately, to the point I avoid chewing on that side now along with hot and cold drinks being painful. Saw the dentist today who could see a line along the tooth and said it’s cracked tooth syndrome.
I’ve had my wisdom teeth removed and Invisalign a few years ago to fix overcrowding at the front. My dentist has said a root canal with a crown is a good option but it may not fix it. I’m looking at $2000 for this option. Other option is to just extract it but I know that also comes with cons. I’m feeling very confused on what to do. I have $2k but it would wipe my savings as I’m on parental leave having just had a baby so really not ideal. I’m concerned about doing the root canal and it just causing more issues down the line or it not working at all. How likely are issues occurring with an extraction later in life?

2025.01.29 05:57 Advanced_Broccoli821 I wish I had my surgery sooner
I got a herniated disc in December 2023, and things went downhill from there. Every month, the pain kept increasing, and medicine only worked for a short time (first Celebrex, then Gabapentin). After four months, I got a steroid injection, which reduced the pain from 10 to 6.
When the pain was at its worst (10), I would walk strangely after sitting for a while, and sometimes the pain would wake me up at night. I also couldn’t tolerate sitting for more than 30 minutes, which was awful, especially on car rides. I had to make my wife stop in the middle of the road just so I could stretch. As a software engineer, I needed to sit most of the day, but I was constantly standing up or sitting down every 30 minutes just to manage the pain.
From day one, I started physiotherapy, but honestly, it didn’t help. I stuck with it for six months, even after the injection, but it never made the pain go away.
After the injection, I started swimming, and that was a game changer. Within minutes of swimming, I would forget I even had pain. Many times, I would limp my way to the pool, but after swimming, I felt normal. I truly recommend trying it if you can—it reduced my pain from 6 to 2.
I thought that eventually, swimming would eliminate my pain completely, but it didn’t. Simple things like sprinting to cross the street or jumping would still cause me intense pain. These are essential things when you have a little boy, but slowly, I started accepting that this was going to be my new normal.
One day at the pool, I met a guy who had gone through the same thing. He told me about his surgery and basically encouraged me to do it. He described the recovery as simple and the procedure as minimally invasive, which made me reconsider my options. After nine months of pain, I went back to my orthopedist to discuss surgery.
My doctor suggested another steroid injection but also recommended consulting a neurosurgeon at the same time. Since I was hesitant about surgery, I agreed to the injection, but I scheduled it for two months later because I had a trip planned.
Meanwhile, I met with the neurosurgeon, and he told me: "You’ve tried everything you needed to, and another injection isn’t going to help much. Just do the surgery."
I told him that his recommendation felt as casual as prescribing paracetamol, and he responded: "This is one of the most basic surgeries we do. We perform so many of these every week—it’s the bread and butter of this department."
That phrase gave me the confidence to go through with it. I canceled the steroid injection and scheduled the surgery for December.
Before the surgery, I went on a three-week holiday and noticed my pain worsening. In June and July, I had done hikes without issues, but now, after just 20 minutes of walking, my leg would start hurting. That’s when I realized I truly needed the surgery.
I had my surgery two days before my "sciatica anniversary." It was an extremely simple procedure, and the recovery was incredibly smooth. I remember doing a small jump on the same day as my surgery—and the pain was gone!
My body had developed so many habits due to the pain, like bending awkwardly, and sometimes, I would mentally brace myself for pain… but it never came!
Recovery took less than a week. I was out at a party just three days after surgery! I wish I had pursued surgery sooner, and I wish my orthopedist had recommended it earlier. I was ready to live with chronic pain, but now I’m basically back to normal.
Sometimes, my leg feels a bit tense compared to the other, which makes sense since I haven't done any stretching for more than a year in that leg,, but I believe exercise will help restore balance. In two weeks, I’ll start swimming again, and returning to a normal life feels like a blessing and a second chance.
If you're considering surgery and have the option, do it! If it’s been six months with no improvement, do it! Talk to a neurosurgeon if you've had no progress after 6–9 months.
I read so many posts on this subreddit during my struggle, and I promised myself that if I ever recovered, I would share my story.
For reference, I had only one herniated disc, L5-S1, but it gave me a hard time. Looking back I find impressive that I was ready to live with chronic pain when there is an actual solution.
