Hi! I recently got given an old Ricoh AF-7 camera from a friends parent who hadn't used it in years. It takes AA batteries, and I actually really like the way the photos have been turning out with it. The only thing is that the camera seems to be using the power from the batteries at all times. Meaning, even if I'm not using it, the batteries will die after 6-8 hours. I've been having to keep the batteries outside of the camera and only put them in when I want to take photos, but it kind of takes the convenience away from having a nice small point and shoot camera. I've checked the manual that I can find online and have been looking for some sort of on/off switch but can't seem to find one. Does anyone know if this is a common issue? Is there a way fix to it?

2025.01.30 14:59 WindowForYourWindow Been a while since I've been properly downtown. Where are the "good" parking spots if I'm going to a Thursday night Mohawk show?
I've parked on nearby streets in the past but it's been years since I've last gone.
I know a lot of development has been going on downtown so perhaps parking options have changed. Also, security is somewhat a concern (I know it's not Bull Creek or Mt Bonnell but figure it's worth mentioning).
Just checking here to hopefully avoid driving around aimlessly.

My wife and I just bought a house with a lot of hardwood flooring. There is some glue remnants leftover on the hardwoods after we pulled the carpet, so I think weâre going to need a big sander to refinish the floors. My daughter was referred to an ortho by her dentist, who I trust. This was for an evaluation and it was about a year ago. The ortho claims she has an overbite, and the the overbite must be corrected before we can place braces in. But that after the bite correction, she'd also get braces now, and then again when she's a teen. A few things concern me. The ortho did not fully explain treatment and how involved it would be. A 7 year old is expected to take out her retainer after snack and lunch, brush her teeth, brush the retainer, and then replace rubber bands (that aren't so easy to do, even for me), while she's at school. No, the school nurses don't help with this stuff. Yet the treatment requires this sort of compliance to be effective. None of this was explained despite me asking many questions. I presumed she'd have some sort of device she'd wear that required nightly cleaning from me as her parent. Not 5x a day changing of rubber bands, brushing a retainer, that I'm sure she'll lose (not because she's clumsy or disorganized, but because she's 7 lol). I'm going to get a second opinion. However, I'm here to get perspective from other dentists who don't have a financial stake in talking to me or my child. Does all of this seem overboard? In my day (I'm in my mid 40s) everyone got braces in their teens, save for some gnarly dental deformities.
The world of dentistry feels more like the hair salon business these days, and it is getting hard to discern medical necessity from upselling. So I'm reaching out to my fellow redditors for some perspective.
