Hello Timminites! Or is it Timminians?
I am moving to Timmins within the next six months, as soon as my house sells. Where I live now is just shy of half a million peoples so this will be quite the change for me. I would love any advice or insights anyone is willing to share.
Mostly, what is a good area to live? Where I am now I am within walking distance to a department store, grocery store, several fast food chains, a library, a gym, and several banks. I would love a neighbourhood where I could replicate that as closely as possible. I’m not shy of living where there are higher rates of homeless individuals or other marginalized groups (which seems to encompass entire cities these days). I would, however, like to avoid large swathes of student housing.
My husband is Jamaican. Are there any Caribbean grocery stores and what are the restaurant selections like for Caribbean food?
Does anyone have a recommendation for a good realtor?
I know there will be people come on here and say “my advice is not to move to Timmins”. But…. It’s happening so that’s not especially helpful advice. Every city has its good and bad. I’m willing to take the bad with the good of a fresh start hundreds of kilometres away from where I am now.

my case is different cuz they're in a different country. it's further complicated by the fact that my dad has 0 desire to see any of his sisters, while my mom is still on friendly terms with her brothers. i occupy the role of the Forgotten American Cousin, which isn't really a bad thing. i saw them every summer, for two weeks each time, until i was eight. then two more times when i was 10 and 12, and then never again.
my bf's family all lives within a two hour drive, so they all get together in some capacity at least three or four times a year. but less people show up over the years cuz more people move farther away, make their own little families, and some just don't show anymore. it got a little worse after covid. i've been told the same thing happened with my extended family.

2025.01.30 18:00 DeadShallD3adRemain Joe Goes to School’s meaning finally clicked for me and I feel really stupid
I’ve been listening to Teens of Denial on repeat lately and the themes of floundering early adulthood and reaching new lows have really resonated with me. I’ve probably spun the album about 20 times in the last few months.
The general “arc” of Joe throughout the album was always a little unclear to me, especially with how the album ends. For some reason I failed to make the connection between the “horse” mentioned in Costa Concordia and the horse imagery in Joe Goes to School (yes I’m stupid).
From what I understand, the horse is used as a metaphor for Will (and Joe’s) teenaged selves. Using the horse as a separate entity is his way of comparing his current self to his younger, more lost and broken self.
In Costa Concordia, Will refers to the horse as “my horse”. This I believe is the first time on the album the narrator is speaking about himself in third person rather than first person. This separation leading into the monologue and finally the “I give up!” cries I think is very purposefully done to start the differentiation between Will at the start of the album and Will at the end. He has broken his back to make it there, and because of it he is a different person.
Now in Joe goes to school, the horse is just referred to as “A Horse”. I think this really beautifully represents the finalization of the transition that has occurred throughout the album. He sees the horse, and recognizes its pain, but realizes it ultimately isn’t interested in being helped. I believe this is the first objective look at the narrator’s inner conflicts we see on the album. Only after experiencing all of the awful things discussed throughout the album can one look back and “connect the dots” so to speak (that has to be intentional right? I’m not crazy… anyways).
Maybe this interpretation is off, or maybe this is obvious to everybody and I’m just really slow. Either way I wanted to share this revelation I’ve had because it has made the rest of the themes and the story in general of Teens of Denial click for me.

Hi everyone,
I just have a quick question. I have a Nissan Sentra and my CVT died on me and I got a replacement and shelled out about $6K to get it fixed and not even 8 months later it died again.
The issue now is that the auto shop that did the repair used a general automatic transmission fluid and not a CVT/NS3 fluid, which I did not know about till it got wrecked. They are saying that it wasn't the cause of the failure and that it was just a transmission failure.
I want to know a professionals thought on this on how much it would have affected/cause the failure.
PS. The transmission unit is under warranty for a couple of years but I'll have to put up about $1.4k CAD for the repair.

With this new update being teased seemingly wanted to enhance the ambiance of the overworld and give it some more life why not rename ocelots to wild cats that way they can spawn in more biomes with different textures similar to wolves without it being weird that a mob named ocelot is spawning outside of jungles and looking completely different.
Obviously in jungles they’ll remain as is and still look like ocelots but other biomes could now have cats that can be found in those climates.
Deserts would have sand cats, snowy biomes could have lynxes and wooded areas could have the Scottish wildcat for example.
Gives a small boost in ambience and life to these biomes and would fit well with the theme they’re seemingly aiming for with this update.
