 | I recently found my old nook and got a new battery for it so it’s working again!! My plan was to sideload some books, but there’s a bunch of old books on it I can’t figure out how to delete (not just archive). Is there a way to delete them without deregistering? My baby girl just turned 1 month old today and has slept about 20 hours a day since day 1. The last few days she had a few wake windows - an hour here and there. Now today she has a stuffy nose and is back to sleeping 20 hours. Basically she wakes to eat and she goes back down.
This is my second child and my first was up all the time from day 1.
Would you be worried?

For theology students, I want to know about something said in Genesis. As stated in chapter 2, there is in the center of Eden the tree of life and the tree of good and evil, right? And at the end of chapter 3 God says "Behold, the man has become like one of us, knowing good and evil. Now let us see to it that he does not stretch out his hand and take fruit from the tree of life, and eat and live forever ." First I looked at this "we" that initially thought of the holy trinity but saw that it wouldn't make sense to be in Genesis. Furthermore, I thought about the catechesis I participated in and remembered that when we go to heaven we will have eternal life, which would be something like if we had eaten the fruit of the tree of life, so wouldn't it be a problem in God's eyes? I was reading and I had these doubts. I hope you can respond. Thanks

I hate that we are even in this position but I'm looking for daycare recommendations that also have a preschool type learning environment. We are slowly being priced out of the one my kids attend now. When we started at the center in 2021 we were paying 2800 a month for our 2 kids. Steady price increases have us now paying 3300.
I hate everything about daycare prices.

Hey everyone,
I wanted to share my thoughts and ask for guidance on how to navigate my current situation. Thought thats a good thread for since, since all of us there have to deal with live changing illness.
Recently, I was diagnosed with a rare tumor—a paraganglioma at the base of my skull. While it’s not life-threatening, its location is extremely delicate. The only option is surgery, but due to the sensitive anatomical structures involved, the tumor won’t be entirely removed. This means I’ll have to live with it, knowing it’s still there, which is unsettling. Additionally, the operation will damage some of my nerves, leading to facial paralysis on one side, difficulty speaking, and trouble swallowing. On top of that, I’ve already lost hearing in one ear over the past few months, replaced by a relentless, screaming tinnitus that makes sleep nearly impossible. Funny thing is that, I can't even get a cochelar implant because I wouldn't be able to control the remains of the tumor with MRI due to magnets in implants.
I just don’t know how to live with all of this. I’m only 23. My life was just beginning to take shape. I finished my studies, moved out, and found quite recently a great job. Now, I struggle to even get out of bed. Mornings are the worst because for a brief moment, I hope it was all just a bad dream until my tinnitus reminds me that this is my new reality. Eating and drinking feel like a challenge, and most days, all I can do is cry into my pillow, smoke, and pray for it all to end. Lately, I’ve even started having suicidal thoughts. I know that my struggle isn’t the same as those with terminal cancer, but for me, this feels unbearable, especially at such a young age. Doctors were trying to cure me from having an ear infection for over 2 months, when suddenly at one day I found out that I have a tumor the size of a tennis ball inside my head.
Can anyone tell me how to live with this? How to deal with life altering permament damages to my body? How do I change my way of thinking to feel close to normal again?

 | My landlord has a Jotul F400 that is nearing retirement, from what we can tell. I use this as my main heat source and run it almost all day. (It’s California so it’s not super cold.) She had the chimney cleaned and inspected in the fall and the guy told her it would likely need to be replaced soon. We’ve noticed in the last week that when we open to load in wood it puffs out a bunch of smoke, which is new. Another issue is the air controller on the bottom is not functional and we have to open the ash basket door to let air in. I’m going to reach out again but I’m curious if you seasoned wood stove users would agree it’s time to let this one go? In the meantime, I’m cleaning it and shop vacuuming the inside to get it back up and running again.
