So I have a OG Famicom that's been AV modded for composite video out. It came with two cartridges, Galaxian and Mario Bros, both of which work fine.
I got a crap 401 multicart from Ali Express, which works to an extent. Many games work. Many don't. Those that don't primarily boot up to corrupted character tiles, but the game runs, plays music, sound etc and you can see that things are moving the right way in among the corrupted tiles.
So I got an N8 Everdrive clone from Ali Express. That doesn't work at all. Either it boots to light blue screen or grey screen. Press reset, and you get green screen for a second or two followed by blue screen.
Boot up the Everdrive clone with no SD card in and you get a corrupted screeen which I believe is trying to be the screen which would normally say "no SD card installed":

Now, Ali Express is a cesspit and I'm inclined to think these are dud cartridges. But by the same token I'm wondering if the Famicom itself might have issues. Is it possible that the reason my multicarts aren't working is because of the console itself?
As an aside, my legit Mario Bros cartridge works fine. If I try to run Mario Bros off of the crap multicart then I get a screen full of garbage, glitched tiles.
I know slightly more than what I could write on a postage stamp about Famicoms, but could this be PPU-related? I suppose Mario Bros and Galaxians, as my two real cartridges, are simple games that perhaps aren't stretching the machine. Contra runs fine off of the crap multicart, too.

hello! i've settled in a climate that reaches around 1-3c in the winter months, and then peaks at around 30c during summer. my storage vessels only produce roughly .52x perish rate (so far at 19c in march). i am wondering if there is a way to keep my cellar cooler during the warmer months, as for even carrots they would spoil in under 100 days. the cellar is underground, and during winter months the perish rates drop to about .19x. thank you!

I can't stop feeling anxious, I can't stop sighing, I can't let myself be calm. I want to get out of here and feel like it's possible to be well again. I have people who love me, people who support me but I still feel very alone because it is such a specific situation. All my life I have hated my body, it is easier to ignore that feeling but now it wallows and eats me up so much. And I recently realized that I use porn as a bad mechanism to manage that dysphoria that I feel, and I always have. 20 years of hurting myself, 20 years of making myself miserable, 20 years of ignoring my problem. And when I think about it, I was just a kid. A child with so many doubts, so many problems, so much dysphoria and he had no one. I wish I could go back and hug him, I didn't deserve that. He deserves an apology, he deserves a world. It's been 20 years in which I didn't let myself feel, I saw it because I hate my body. I hate not having a penis, I hate not being able to use it the way I want, and I hate having to imagine having one to even feel anything. I feel so chained to myself, I just wish I didn't have a body. I wish I would stop overthinking, stop wishing I was different. I just want to learn to love myself. And this is an extremely recent problem, obviously I feel like my world is falling. I wish I could access the surgeries that would make this go away, but just thinking that I probably won't have them for over 15 years makes my stomach turn. I want to love my body, I want to let myself feel. I want to stop being a problem for myself because of this, and sex maybe isn't that important it's just that I feel empty. It's an addiction that makes me feel so guilty, makes me feel so empty. I feel that because I was trans I developed an unhealthy obsession with sex, an obsession that tried to satisfy that emptiness, to ignore that I was born this way. And realizing this now is destroying me. I want to be well, I want it and I long for it so much, and before knowing this I was. I was calm while everything was happening. How do I get rid of this anxiety? I think I'm sorry because recently my girlfriend realized this and being an outsider to me made it all become real somehow. I can't continue with this weight on my chest, it hurts to be me every day. I want to think about something else and I can't, I'm obsessed. I don't let myself feel things, I don't give myself a break from my thoughts. I want to be just a normal man, a man who doesn't feel like he lacks everything that makes him a man. And I am aware that having a penis does not make you a man, but why do I need one so much? Why has it always had to be like this? I want my life to be like that of a cis person, being in this body is killing me.

2025.01.30 18:20 Electrical-Sport-222 Is Portainer still developing or will it remain at its current state?
I ask this after I ran into some difficulties with installing somewhat more laborious stacks that require multiple images, installing applications and modules in images, pre-populating local volumes to allow for later configuration of services, as well as preserving data if the stack is reinstalled, etc.
The biggest shortcoming and one that would save a lot of complexity would be installing a project/stack from an archive, which contains both docker-compose.yml and the folder structure required for build/context ... possibly even using additional commands (batch) to execute tasks before and after installing/activating images!
I've been using Portainer for a while, running it on a few VMs and on my own system, and I found it to be sufficient for simple projects, applications in a single image... but when it comes to experiments, docker on the command line is king, portainer can't help you with anything in this direction to make your work easier, except to lengthen your time to implement a project.
Happy self-hosting and I look forward to your opinions, of any kind!
P.S. I've been using VMs for almost 20 years, I avoided docker because I didn't see the point of it, but "in my old age" I said I'd give it a chance, to keep my neurons active so they don't die of boredom :)
