I'm looking to upgrade from my older Alienware gaming laptop. It's loud slow and has no battery life. I have to use my laptop for everyday work/school so having to be tethered to the wall with a monster power brick sucks. I'm thinking about getting a thin and light with good CPU/RAM but no dedicated GPU and then using an external GPU over Thunderbolt for when I'm gaming at home. I can't find any good coverage of this. Any ideas or suggestions?

Here is my situation. I am under a retention agreement in my current role. I am set to receive $35k at the end of the 2025 and another $35K at the end of 2026. The issue is that my department is essentially becoming redundant and we are undergoing layoffs. The agreement is to keep key roles from leaving in order to keep the business running. I am fairly confident I will be layed off by the end of this year due to lack of projects, at which time I would receive severance + $70k retention. My dilemma is that I have been offered a sililar role at another company, paying 10% more than my current base salary. It is a career direction I want to pursue and there is a lot of opportunity for growth. I have until the end of this week to decide after which is offer is void. With the market conditions, I cannot say confidently that a similar role will be available at the end of the year as this is a specialized field. So my dilemma, wait for the layoff, get $70k + severance and take a chance on finding a better role later this year? Or leave the cash and take on this new role, in my field with long term growth and potential?

Hello, I just started learning French maybe a week ago. I made some French friends over Christmas and picked up some phrases and decided I wanted to learn. I don’t know where to start besides Duolingo and have a 5 day streak.
I learn better when I can read but the language is so difficult for me! I’m a native English speaker and I know some Spanish which I live for how simple the alphabet is, but my god does the French alphabet make me feel like someone picking up English!! Why is water spelt “eau” but only the is pronounced?!? There’s so many silent letters (to my English ears) and letter combinations. I just want to be able to read a French book or text with proper pronunciation even if I don’t know what the words mean.
Any suggested resources on this?

I need help understanding what I’m looking at in his call history.
For Context: I am still waiting for my husband to do full disclosure, he has not started with a CSAT yet, but has identified one that I am okay with. DDay1 was in October of 2023–he gaslit me until June of last year and a week after “telling me everything” he went and started looking for “sensual massages”.
I stopped trying to get answers as the trickle truth was too frustrating, and told him full disclosure with a CSAT was the only thing I will accept.
Back to what I’m currently seeing (as that request for disclosure was in August and I’m still waiting), he has what seems very much like a pattern of accepting incoming calls for no more than 20seconds, and they were happening at fairly regular schedules (e.g., Monday around 4p).
They seem to have stopped since January (when maybe I finally got through that porn is cheating?)…but I’m not hopeful as I think he’s just found other ways to find what he’s looking for (literally told me “I have my ways”).
