On Monday, Feb. 3, the San Mateo City Council will consider whether or not to remove the bike lanes on Humboldt Street. Please help!
This would be catastrophic as Humboldt is adjacent to three schools serving 6,000 students - SM High, College Park Elementary, and SM Adult Schools. In addition, the North Central neighborhood is an equity priority neighborhood with the highest rate of traffic violence in the City. Many residents rely on the bike lanes to get to work or school as they cannot afford the cost of a car. Low income, people of color sadly often live in neighborhoods with the most dangerous streets and see much higher death and injury rates than other communities. The cost of removing the bike lanes could approach $2M, distracting staff and taxpayer dollars that could be used to make our streets safer, fill potholes, fix our playgrounds, etc.
If you support the bike lanes, please help by:
- Signing our petition to the Council
- RSVP for the upcoming meeting (in person or via Zoom)
- Share with friends and family
Thanks for helping make San Mateo streets safer for all residents, including those who rely on bikes to get around.

I have always had an interest in Dinosaurs since I was extremely young, Dino books, dino movies, dino bedroom everything. But as I got older and discovered that I wasn't very good in school, i managed a C average at best, I have ADHD and Dyscalculia so my attention was always very off and my memory was god awful especially with numbers. I just barely passed College to get my bachelors degree (It's in history but it was kinda my backup when I realized how bad at math I was prior to the discovery of my Dyscalculia) and I have been out of school for almost six years now and I'm afraid that I'll do even worse since I have been out of it for so long. But recently I have been looking at my interests and trying to find something to go into as a career as I've just been bouncing from one mundane job to the next (I couldn't afford to do unpaid internships to get a job in my field) and I have been thinking about those old dreams I gave up on when I was a teenager but I feel like with my poor skills and time outside of school would prevent me from getting into the field and waste my money. Should I seriously consider it or just enjoy from the sidelines?

2025.01.30 21:40 Difficult-Radio-8483 A few minutes ago, I was in a Zoom interview with an insurance company. This was the second stage of interviews after I passed an interview with the manager (who gave me a good evaluation)
The first two people who interviewed me seemed professional and welcomed me. The last one was an older woman who seemed annoyed and barely even looked at me.
She started the interview with, ""I saw your CV and it doesn't seem to have enough experience or skills for this job. Why should we consider hiring you, give us convincing reasons.""
I replied by clarifying my skills, achievements, and experiences that are relevant to the job.
She interrupted me at the end and said, ""This isn't a marketing job, tell us how you would sell our insurance.""
I was confused and said that the job was advertised as a marketing position and the hiring manager seemed pleased with my background. She got annoyed and repeated, ""I really don't know why you might be suitable, you need to market yourself hard.""
I replied, ""You know what, it's clear that you don't like any of my answers, so let's save our time and end this interview.""
She seemed shocked and said, ""No, we want to consider hiring you, but we have the right to know what your advantages are.""
I told her that I am no longer interested in this job and I would never consider working with their team or with their insurance plans. I thanked them for their time and said, ""Good luck."" She looked surprised and said, ""Oh okay, thank you."" I ended the call before any of them could. I'm glad I didn't waste more of my time with them."

I remember when I was a young military member and had a chief that would go on rampages. Overnight, went from being her #1 team to being the team that couldn't shoot straight.
