2025.01.30 22:33 lunandromeda AITA for telling my flatmate he has his dad’s wallet to buy himself a new laptop?
To preface this, he has said multiple times in the past few months we’ve been living together that he’s so broke, that’s he’s going over budget, etc. to which I’ve replied with “why don’t you ask your dad for money?”
It may sound like I’m negging him but he’s in his mid-twenties, not worked a day in his life, travels to see friends multiple times a year, and basically has his dad cover all of his expenses. He isn’t truly as broke as he so frequently says, but he loves complaining about financial hardships that it’s irked me a bit because I grew up living below the poverty line for most of my life.
He came up to me the other day and asked me for some tools to fix his laptop. I was going to give him my tools, but also offered to help when I’m next available as I’m tech savvy. He ended up sending his laptop in to a tech service and said he wouldn’t mind spending around 100 to get it fixed. But then he said he’s gone way beyond his budget (due to travelling twice in the space of a month for leisure) to buy himself a decent laptop, to which I said “well, you’ve got your dad’s wallet.” He then went on to say he found that offensive and turned patronising saying “there’s ways of communicating with people” to which I responded “I don’t need you to tell me how to communicate with people. It’s just a fact that your dad financially provides for you and he would buy you a laptop as it’s essential to your studies.” It seemed he didn’t want things to escalate so he went off to his room saying “yes you’re right, I’m sorry, I’m sorry.”
Now he’s got me thinking, did I take it too far by saying he’s got his dad’s wallet? He has access to his dad’s bank so essentially, he does, and isn’t afraid of going broke for real. What’s the verdict?

Hey everyone, I'm a 22-year-old Moroccan woman who just started a 6-month internship at a bank’s HQ, and I’m finding it tough. I’m naturally introverted but easygoing once approached.
On my first day, my supervisor introduced me to the team, and they seemed nice, but since then, no one has really talked to me or shown interest. My desk is also isolated from the rest of the team, which doesn’t help.
I’ve tried greeting them in the morning (which started working after a couple of tries), but they’re always so busy. They don’t seem like bad people, just distant (at least that's what I want to believe.) Since I’ll be here for the next 6 months—and potentially looking for a full-time role—I don’t want to stay invisible.
Any advice on how to integrate better and build connections?

Tori Spelling plays the lead's best friend who secretly has feelings for him and ends up embarrassing herself when she realizes of her friend's newfound emotions for his hook-up. She also has a unforgettable scene, where her character, Katherine, sings a song, "Enter You", even though she can't sing. Tori Spelling imbues her role with a cloying sweetness and tenderness I never saw on 90210. She deservedly got good reviews for her work in the film.
The film's leads are played by Christian Campbell and John Paul Pitoc.

Hey everyone, I'm 20 from southern BC and I want to learn to hunt. I know literally nothing. I don't know what I would hunt even, but it would probably be something common like deer. What else is out there that is "easier" to hunt? I also know nothing about guns. I of course will be taking the course shortly, in a couple months or so. But I want to research and look into some different guns for hunting. I have a low budget, preferring to stay under $500 (I know it's quite low). I want something fairly lightweight so I can take it moto camping with me. I think I want a bolt action rifle but again, I don't know anything so I am completely open to any and all suggestions. Hola, zajímalo by mne řešení situace studenta UK, který dobrovolně ukončí studium VŠ teď v lednu. Chce začít znovu v září na jiném oboru, ale do té doby by se rád věnoval nějakému studiu a měl status studenta. Věk do 26 let bez problémů splněný. Jasně, že je možné jit na nějakou brigádu, ale rád bych zjistil i nějaké další možnosti typu studium. Nemáte někdo zkušenosti s nějakým řešením, které má smysl, je jen na půl roku a je v Praze a okolí?

This might sound a little silly but just humor me, The movie got average reviews, it was nothing groundbreaking considering titanic came out recently, but still it’s loved by the fans and it could be considered a cult classic. Is there something which the movie does with its color pallet or scripting which makes the move really “Watchable”? Any science or reasoning behind it? Or it’s just my nostalgia which makes me believe this movie was an absolute fun ride.
