hey all. I’m a very queer trans guy who never came out to my father (mormon) and has cut contact with that entire side of my family years ago. I was only ever in the church as a young child. it wasn’t until after he separated with my mother that missionaries started showing up on our private property in a rural area, citing that the house has “two unbaptized children” (my sibling and I, who are 24 and 22. not exactly kids lol). he wasn’t active in the mormon church for years but re entered when he left and moved back to utah (I live in CA if that helps)
how the hell do I get this to stop without contacting my mormon family, let alone outing myself? I pass as a cis guy and would prefer to keep knowledge of my transness OUT of the church and governments hands as much as possible due to both personal discomfort and safety given current politics.
I have an 80lbs doberman that barks like crazy at these people but obviously it doesn’t deter them. I want my information out of their hands and to just be left alone :/ will it change if I move? do I write a letter? help 😭

2025.01.30 22:21 gatita_7 Seeking advice- very high myopia- one eye done
I am in my mid-40s and my prescription was -30 in the right eye and the left eye was -28, but I have been under correcting with glasses.
Both eyes have floaters, but not really a big deal. There is staphyloma in both eyes, but only with the right eye do I see straight lines as wavy and circles are like punched in. I have not had a retinal detachment. I do have moderate astigmatism in both eyes. I have never needed reading glasses.
I have/had cataracts in both eyes and decided last summer, with my eye doctors, to get cataract surgery. I did not research too much as I didn’t want to freak myself out.
I went to a good surgeon who recommended to leave me at -2 so that I would still have some close vision and could read, etc. I asked about LAL lenses and was told I wasn’t a candidate. I did not know to ask about other lenses, nor did I ask about torics or surgery to correct my astigmatism. I decided to do the surgery thinking I would just need light, single-vision glasses correcting for distance in the end. (I did not know that reading power would be needed.)
I had the right eye done at the end of last summer. I can kind of see, but I cannot read small print or my phone. The loss of near vision really scared me after the surgery, so I did not do the other eye yet. I was told at my one week post-op that I had PCO already and was advised to get YAG. I did not get YAG yet. I am now having even a harder time reading as everything is sort of blurred out…maybe this is PCO getting worse? I also discovered that my eye muscles have shifted and I now see slanted in the right eye and need to wear prism glasses or do muscle surgery. (This problem was probably already there before the cataract surgery.)
I suffer from chronic migraines and vertigo.
This is where I am. I am looking for advice from ophthalmologists, or others who are very knowledgeable.
Questions: Are there any lenses besides the most basic monofocal for me? If yes, is it really worth it to seek a lens replacement? (I am willing to pay.) Is there a reason I should not have had toric or relaxing cuts during the first operation? Is there a LASIK-type procedure to correct astigmatism in the already-done eye? Would YAG on the current implanted IOL eye help with the reading vision? Would you do all cataract and touch up surgeries before doing the eye muscle surgery?
I appreciate any advice as I am trying to decide what I can do to better my vision. Thanks

A friend and I in multiplayer went to Louisville and became kinda dissappointed with the small number of zombies. We started with default settings, and have since increased it to (Population Multiplier:2.0) and (Population Peak Multplier:2.5 (oh, it actually says Multplier)), but we feel like there are actually fewer zombies? We're like two and a half weeks in with only 600 kilsl each. How can we properly give ourselves a challenge?

I’m in a bit of a dilemma and could really use some advice. I’ve been accepted for a postdoctoral research position at Harvard, School of Medicine, which is amazing, but the position is non-funded. The catch is that I don't have any publications or significant experience in the field (I'm relatively new to this area of research).
To make matters more complicated, I was rejected by Fulbright, and my BAEF (Belgian American Educational Foundation) interview didn’t go as well as I had hoped. So now, I’m really struggling to figure out how to move forward.
