I'm talking about checking news, emails, reddit during downtime while waiting for more work, or listening to music or a video in the background while you're working.
I've been doing it for years and never given it a second thought (I work in IT), but it seems like everyone says don't do it, so I'm wondering if anyone has any stories of anyone being let go for really low-key personal use of a work laptop?

Let me preface this with I know I am an idiot, I know I f*cked up, I know. I have never in my life handled anything like this before and now I have to deal with the repercussions of hiring this person.
I hired someone thinking they were licensed and insured, they have an LLC and upon checking today the LLC is inactive and I see no proof of this person being licensed.
Day 1, he says he will show up 8:00 AM, he shows up at 9:00 AM. He asks if I signed the contract, I did. He asked if I have the deposit to begin the work, I did and handed it over. Crew gets started taping up plastic all over my home. Half of the home has popcorn removed, the other half is not removed. Day 1 ends he sends an update and says he will be back tomorrow 8:00 AM.
Day 2, he does not show. 11 AM rolls around I ask where he is. He says he had an emergency and will get his guys over as soon as he can. 3 PM no sign of him or his crew. Text him again, he says he is still taking care of emergency and will be back over the next day 8:00 AM.
Day 3, which has not happened yet, I have decided after digging deeper into this guys history, I have been fooled and I am no longer comfortable with this guy finishing the other half of the work being: Applying knockdown finish through the home and painting the ceilings.
Our contract has the total for all of the services, his name, my name, the date signed. There is NO information on date the job will be completed, no estimation of time either, there is no cancellation or refund policy. I even checked his website and nothing. The date of completion was a verbal thing, he said “plan to have a place to stay for 2 nights” we are on night 2 and as I noted he didn’t even show up today to finish out the popcorn removal part of the job.
At this point, I want him to finish the removal, remove the plastic/debris/waste, and end the job. Can I do this? Given the contract has little to no information, how do I approach this? Again, I have never dealt with this, I have obviously learned a lot far too late. If he can just finish removing and clean up and go, I wouldn’t feel so bad about give him $1500. Will he fight me on this? Am I within my rights?

I haven't been happy with these recent updates to Animal Jam. I play AJPW and I used to be sooo excited whenever a new animal, Pet, or even a den came out. But these last few updates seen completely dumb. There has been like 3 fox recolors, griffins, weird dens, and an emo giraffe? I'm sorry if I offend anyone, but AJ is really starting to lose the spark it once had. The items don't feel cool and even though I like some stuff, like the new den locator thing, most of it just feels worthless. I guess it's just because it's meant to become a meme to the community, but I'm not happy with it anymore.
