2025.01.31 00:48 Alphawolf11087 Tips to increase one-foot vertical?
I see a lot of 2 feet jump workouts and I was wondering if anyone had a workout for 1 foot jumping. Do the 2 foot workouts apply to 1 foot? I’m assuming not. Are there any weight lifting workouts or exercises or plyos that help with 1 foot jumping? Context: I’m 5’11 178 lbs, a couple inches from dunking. I usually just do squats, deadlifts, leg press, calf raises, hamstring curls low reps high weight. I’ve never done plyometrics I guess I just don’t know how effective they really are but I used to do a lot of approach jumps/dunk attempts on a lower and 10 ft rim. If anyone has any tips or knowledge on this please let me know.

Hey all,
So I am applying to School Psych Ph.D.s this fall, but am very nervous about my chances.
I have a B.S. in Psych (3.05 GPA) and am completing an M.Ed in Special Education (4.0 so far). I know the undergrad GPA is a problem, but I am hoping the master's will make up for it. I also have professors/advisors who can write me strong letters.
I have quite a bit of informal research experience through my job at a university-affiliated school, but nothing with my name on it. I managed to land a volunteer position in a lab that will begin in the next couple weeks – it’s mostly collecting data and plugging it into excel, but it's something. I am doing a master’s thesis, but it won’t be done by the time I send in my applications.
I have a lot of very valuable, relevant practical experience. I’ve worked with both neurotypical and neurodivergent child/student populations in a lot of contexts, from many different backgrounds and at different ages. Not to be all braggy, but I truly believe very few other applicants will have the array or amount of relevant practical experience that I do... I'm really counting on this as my "set my application apart" factor.
But I just keep thinking – if it’s between me and a student with a great undergrad GPA and years of experience as an RA, the other person probably gets picked every time. I'm just worried the strengths of my application (practical experience, graduate coursework, rec letters) aren't enough to outweigh the flaws (undergrad GPA, research experience). Is there anything else I can do to make myself a more competitive applicant?

I just started this book and man am I struggling hard. Maybe I'm just not intelligent enough for this style of writing, but I am having such a hard time comprehending what the hell is going on. It is just not grabbing me whatsoever. Is this how the entire book is like? I do not understand the appeal at all. I was hopeful about VanderMeer's work because I really like Annihalation (the movie), but I think this is some of the weirdest most uninituive writing I have ever experienced. I'm like 15 pages in and I already feel like abandoning the book.

 | I recently found this unusual organism in southwest Florida. They are on a sidewalk which is hit by a sprinkler daily. Range from 2-3mm in diameter. When the sidewalk isn’t wet, the specimens dry out, shrink a little, and turn a darker blue/purple-brown (photos 9 and 10). Once the sprinkler turns back on they rehydrate fairly quickly. I’m Emily, and I’m 20 years old. I’m feeling pretty stuck right now. Life’s been throwing a lot at me—between school, work, and trying to pay rent, it just feels like it’s all piling up. I’ve been doing my best to stay on top of everything, but it’s been tough. I know I should probably ask for help, but I just can’t bring myself to do it. I don’t want to burden anyone, and I feel like I should be able to handle this on my own.
So, I’m here instead, just venting a little. If anyone has advice on how to keep going when it feels like everything is slipping, or even ways to manage stress and finances better, I’m all ears. I just need something to help me keep my head above water.
