2025.01.31 02:20 Extension_Way4501 Oral surgery
Yesterday at 8 am bright and early I got my upper left wisdom tooth out and my lower right one. Came to from the surgery by them saying my ride was there got wheeled out in a wheel chair and proceeded to vomit, nurse came out with gloves and new gauze car ride home I slept (40 minutes) got home and threw up again pretty much slept all day on and off until 5pm had some instant potatoes later on in the night and a couple bites of vanilla ice cream. my pain level is 3-4 on the bottom right side, (( worse when I talk)) no pain on the top. I’m super squeamish when it comes to having a giant hole in my mouth I’m too scared to really look but from what I’ve seen it just looks like a massive hole on the bottom.. I’ve been taking ibuprofen/ Tylenol every 4-6 hours wasn’t prescribed anything and wasn’t given a syringe any advice and what’s some more things I can eat I’ve done 2 salt water rinses

Have you ever heard of something like this?
I got my grade back for a three-credit course I took last semester about three weeks ago. The grade was underwhelming, to say the least—I got a B-. I was really pissed because I could have sworn I did substantially better. But I brushed it off since I CALI’d another class and did well in the rest of my courses.
Then yesterday, I got an email that said:
“We hope your semester is off to a good start. You will soon receive notification from Student Finance and Records that your final grade for Race and the Foundations is going up from a B- to an A. The reason for this is that a spreadsheet error occurred in the grading process.”
What the hell? At first, I was relieved, but as time passed, I became more irritated and distrustful of the school’s grading system. The worst part? I already submitted my summer associate applications. A change from a B- to an A in a three-credit course has a significant impact on my GPA, and now I have to contact all the firms I applied to and explain the discrepancy. By now, they’ve probably already made their hiring decisions and won’t care about my updated transcript.
And what about the person who was originally told they got an A but actually earned a B-? That would suck even more. But what if they just let them keep the grade? That wouldn’t be fair either.
This whole thing is a mess.

2025.01.31 02:20 False-Whereas-7438 PI and lab mates hate me and don’t trust anything I say. What to do? Should I just ignore it and just do my best?
I’m a non-traditional international first year PhD student in a STEM lab. It’s a very small lab, and they’re all friends, which seemed fine at first. They even seemed super friendly to me at first. But now, I’m getting a bit concerned and even thinking about completely quitting the PhD or literally abandoning the field I’ve been working in for over a decade. I just genuinely don’t know what to do anymore…
This lab (like any other in my subfield) has their own way of doing things. The problem is that occasionally I do things the way my previous labs did, and then, the 5th year PhD student (also an international, but from a completely different country) says that he had emphasized that I shouldn’t do it like that, and everyone including the PI acts like I’m the public enemy #1. The problem is that while I’m pretty good in terms of skills and knowledge, I know I am forgetful and absent-minded. I even brought up the idea of me having ADHD to my therapist, but she brushed it off. Anyway, because of that I’m not even 100% if I just forgot/misunderstood what they had told me about their ways of doing things or if they’re the ones misremembering. At least in one of the 2 instances, I’m 99% sure that the “older” PhD student had a similar but different conversation with me, so I’m pretty sure he’s the one having false memories of explaining to me things they never actually mentioned. Either way, forgetfulness on my side or theirs, I’m definitely not intentionally just defying them, why would I even want to do that? And yet for some reason, they seem to think that that’s exactly what I’m doing. I don’t want to be specific with my examples of what happened because I want to stay anonymous, but I can say that nothing I did ever caused any damages of any sort and I know that many labs actually do things these way (that’s where I learned them in the first place).
What do I do? Should I just go to industry with a Master’s? Is there a way to go through the glass ceiling with just a Master’s? Specifically, in pharma?
