This is a genuine question, I'm 15 and Asian, and as the rumor goes Asian parents are extremely strict. Yes, they are. Ever since I was around 5 years old, my game time was limited only on the weekend, 1 hour on Saturday, 1 hour on Sunday, seems pretty average for a 5-year-old, some people may even seem that's a little old, and eventually that my parents would grow out of it and possibly extend my game time, NO. Ever since the Xbox 360 Split screen playing with my siblings my game time hasn't changed, I generally need advice on how to extend it, and why my parents won't allow my game time to extend,
Recently for around my first Freshman year in highschool I had sort of a "grace period" before then in 8th grade I was doing horrendous (Under my parents control using a computer monitoring third party system on my computer) I had B's and C's, but when I had my "grace period" the period in which my parents rarely checked the monitor device on my computer my games excelled, now my average is A's A+'s and currently as a freshman I'm taking honors courses in Geomtery (A sophomore class) (As you see since I am asian). I'm planning on taking Honors Accounting, Honors Engineering (Or culinary) Algebra II Honors sophomore year AP Us History, and (possible Honors Chem and Honors Seminar but I will replace them with APUSH) During my "Grace period" if you didn't connect two and two together, my grades have been doing well, unlike other kids like I'm bad mouthing them (I'm really not I'm just different) I actually finish all my work, study, do my homework without my parents asking then if I see fit I play games, I also generally have my own "sleep schedule" I usually go straight to be past 11 and I've never done an all nighter in my life. (Keep in mind my parents have never told me to do this), I've maintained good grades, never handed in late assignments, get A's on all my assessments during school whilst managing playing games on the weekdays without my parents knowledge during my "grace period", until recently. Parents checked the monitor system on my computer, yada yada yada, got in a shit ton of trouble basically got grounded and reverted back to my 1 hour on Sunday and 1 hour on Saturday. No games whatsoever on the weekdays, get a 100 on my Geo test? No rewards, get a good grade on my essay? No rewards, only a good job then they forget about it basically. Even my own curfew, I go out and bike with my friends in the summertime when its warm and just giving you an example in how "managed" I am with my time I apologized to my dad and my sister multiple times when they never asked me when I was riding with my friends past 11:00 at night, ultimately arriving home and apologizing profusely. Still, they didn't give a shit. I just don't get it, I tell them all the points, I'm a co-founder at a nonprofit organization, I take the Python classes they want me to take, I tutor kids my same age teaching Chinese students English, I also take a geo tutor so I can polish up my skills (That I asked for) I generally have no idea what I can do, my longest time I've gamed was probably 9 hours which was on a Sunday after I submitted all my weekend homework. I play sports manage my time well, I convince them, and ultimately they also say "Ill think about it" then they basically avoid me for the whole week and never tell me or respond constantly trying to avoid the question. I'm not even a bad kid, I don't play violent games and usually resort to playing with my friends on Minecraft nor do I even ask for much. I really need advice on how I can beg them or ask them to extend my game time, its been 10 years and they still haven't budged. Please, all my friends get to play as much at their own disregard without any repercussions. And even if I do get the freedom I want I already know how to play responsibly.
