2025.01.31 04:58 sc-dave Experienced producers, what would features you want your dream "breakcore" plugin to have?
I've been making tunes for well over a decade now but recently pivoted more towards coding and DSP related stuff as I've gone back to uni. I'll be honest as well, I have been kinda burnt out doing music and the whole scene for a bit, but still enjoy the genre massively. I also like making weird ass things in MATLAB (which i'll release at somepoint). Anyway, to not make my brain stale after I've graduated i'm planning to make my own plugins, mostly for funsies (and a portfolio I guess).
Whilst the obvious thing here is something to do with manipulating breakbeats (which I have to give a massive shoutout to the amigo sampler), I'd wanna see more specific ideas of what _exactly_ you think is either missing, or just a pain in the ass to process in a DAW.
Obviously, I'm still learning DSP stuff, don't expect anything amazing. The idea in my head i'm half planning is something like Dr.Octo Rex in Reason, but way more up to date DSP and capability wise specifically for weirdos who make this genre.
So, whatcha have in mind? I also plan to charge less than fuck-all for my stuff, and if you have an idea I use here i'll give you everything of mine for free forever. This may start in like 2027 though lmao.
Also for the record: I'd love to hear more from experienced producers' (like 5+ years of experience) than people who've just started. Mostly because I'd want to know the exact technical specifics of what you want and also quite simply, they know more about advanced mixing/sound-design/DAW environments that just comes with doing this for a long time.
Though If you're not *that* experienced but you feel you got a banging idea, post anyway! I love to see new people in the scene that understand the culture and wanna further it, but know this isn't me trying to be exclusionary, more so I wanna make something great for everyone.
Or you can shitpost ideas, up to you. Penalty if you do is to post one of your own tunes.

The accessories were very limited and not cheap at all. The most basic back panel doesn't provide screws and bottom circle, literally just the replaceable back. Even the protective cases available online are mostly clear cases and ugly cheap looking silicon cases.
It feels like they just experimented to release this phone and left it.

2025.01.31 04:58 Pitiful_Committee101 Any Advice on College Education? Would You have Done Things Differently (for more money)?
I'm not exactly sure what I want to major in yet but most likely ElectricalE or ChemE. That said I'm currently planning on EE and have an interest in chip design / microelectronics and semiconductors over other EE sectors. I believe most people in chip design have a masters/phd (correct me if wrong).
That being said, a huge goal of mine is to be financially stable and hopefully be financially independent/retire early at some point and to not have my kids worry about money and college like I've had to.
By the time I graduate high school (current junior) I will have a 4.0 GPA, 36 ACT(retest until I get it from a 34 in sophomore year), and 16 AP classes taken (they give college credit), and pretty good extracurriculars/awards.
The problem is I only have ~$20000 in savings and I could either go to a highly ranked out of state engineering school like Georgia Tech and take on loans of potentially $120000+ after all 4 years or I could go to another out of state school which is the University of Alabama and get 5 years tuition free with free housing, $4000 a yr plus $2000 study abroad since I got 1520/1520 on my PSAT.
Also at Alabama I could get my masters in 3.5-4 years with my college credits and the accelerated master program.
I don't know which would be the best investment for my future or what field of engineering I should go into for great income to help achieve my financial goals. Could this choice of Alabama greatly impact my salary and opportunities? Thank you, anything helps!!!
