 | My sweet girl Rider is 11.5 years old and unfortunately has lung cancer for the second time. We detected it the first time in December of 2023 (10.5yo) when the tumor was 8cm wide and bigger than her heart. By January of 2024 we were able to have lots of X-rays and scans done to determine it had not spread so we opted to go for surgery (lobectomy) to remove the mass on January 29. The amazing surgeon was able to remove the mass completely. They sent it off for biopsy and the results were Bronchoalveolar Carcinoma, Grade 2. She was given 7-9 months to live after surgery with no chemo and I opted not to do any chemo because she can be sensitive to most medications. The vet also said the cancer could possibly return within 3-4 months. Even with those odds we still took the chances. I’m really glad we did because we just reached 1 year post surgery and although things have been rocky the past couple weeks, and I’m unsure how much time we have left with her, this extra time has been so worth it. submitted by escudd to weimaraner [link] [comments] |
