2025.01.31 06:16 Agile-Film8134 Need Help Running Valve Index on My Asus ROG Gaming Laptop
Hey everyone, I really appreciate any help you can offer!
I’m currently using an Asus ROG gaming laptop for my sim racing rig because it’s portable and convenient. However, I’m looking to upgrade to a desktop PC eventually—but that’s not in the budget right now.
My main issue is running VR with my Valve Index. As many of you know, the Index requires a DisplayPort, HDMI, and USB connection. The problem? My laptop doesn’t have a DisplayPort—even though it has ports all over the back.
I tried working around this by purchasing a $100 multi-port dongle from Best Buy that includes a DisplayPort, but my laptop still doesn’t recognize the connection. After doing some research, I found out that the Valve Index requires a direct connection to the GPU, which means an adapter likely won’t work.
At this point, I’m stuck. Does anyone here have experience with this issue or know of a reliable workaround? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Diagnosed with: OSA/UARS/SBD. CPAP has been entirely unhelpful.
My palate is somewhat narrow, upper and lower dental arches are somewhat narrow and don't fully provide enough room for my tongue (have completed myofunctional therapy).
I have difficulty with nasal breathing, despite previous septoplasty, turbinate reduction, & left nasal valve stent. CBCT scans seem to show somewhat narrow nostrils.
However, my scans show that the real issue is likely my mandibular retrusion.
Therefore, I'm wondering if it would make more sense to skip FME and jump right to MMA surgery with a segmental lefort where I could get transverse/palatal expansion to open up my nasomaxillary airway, along with the anterior advancement of my maxilla and especially my mandible to increase my lower airway. Not to mention, save myself some money and and some extra treatment time (and maybe actually get some relief and some sleep sooner!).
But it seems like there's always some catch with all of these modalities. So, I wanted to ask if anyone in the community has any experience or insight to offer regarding jumping right to surgery in a case like mine?

I have 3 packages all last scanned 20, 21,24 at USPS Indianapolis. It appears from a lot of posts that a lot of major hubs are having significant delays. In my last post I stated that I had ordered from Finland and it got delivered in a little over a week! Completely outran domestic shipping. I run and manage a hockey team. These are all equipment, apparel etc. The kids are going to end up missing a tournament. Much like you all, we paid for a product and shipping, we were given a date, some packages are very important. I have never ever had any issues with USPS up until last year. A lot of people say “privatize” USPS. But they are self-funded. Perhaps let the government fund them, that way they’re held accountable. Anyone have any idea why these delays are occurring?
