Some of y'all know my son's story--he got Nussed at 15, HI was 7.4, the bar flipped 10 days later, they replaced it with another bar, and then he had another serious complication that takes too long to explain. Eight months after the second Nuss, it was decided the bar needed to be removed but it wasn't replaced even though there was obvious regression right away. A cardiac MRI done several weeks later revealed his HI to be 6.7.
So obviously he had to have yet another Nuss, and it was performed this past July by Dr. Rebeccah Brown at Cincinnati Children's. She and her team (and, seriously, everyone at Children's) were absolutely phenomenal. (fyi, she does patients up to age 35, and I also wanted to mention she is one of not very many surgeons in the U.S. who does redos in case anyone finds themselves needing one.)
His recovery has been remarkable even though it was his fourth surgery in a little over a year and it took over 9 hours because of the adhesions that had formed due to the previous surgeries. He had very little pain afterward. He was off of all pain meds within a couple of weeks. After that he took advil every once in a while for soreness if he exerted himself too much.
Anyway, a while back he started training for a long and rigorous backpacking trip planned for this summer, slowly increasing the length of his walks and the pack weight (adhering to post-op instructions of course.) A couple of weekends ago, 6 months after the re-redo, he went on an overnight camping/backpacking trip and hiked 13 miles of the AT in North Carolina with a 30 lb pack. No problems with shortness of breath or dizziness (his main pre-op issues), and the only pain he complained about was his legs--he's not used to mountainous terrain because where we live is pancake flat.
The point of this post is to say that if you haven't had surgery yet, choose your surgeon wisely because it makes all the difference in the world. The amount of experience, the surgical techniques they use, how frequently they perform Nuss, the number of bars they typically use (this mostly applies to older teens and adults), their pain control protocols, and so many other factors play in to how good your results are and what your recovery is like.
I plan on doing a post at some point listing all the things that (imo) you should be looking for in a surgeon, especially if your case is very severe or complicated in some way (asymmetrical, sternal rotation, carinatum/arcuatum, if you have a connective tissue disorder, etc.) I'll invite others to add to the list as well. I also want to include a list of tips on how you can lessen the misery of your recovery. It is heartbreaking to see so many posts here from folks who've had surgery with bad outcomes or really rough recoveries that in some cases could have been avoided (again, just imo).
P.S. I'm not saying everyone can have a recovery as easy as my son's has been, because I think it's fairly rare, but there are definitely things you can do to prevent or lessen some common problems.

Does universities only look at your top 6 in sem 1 finals and sem 2 mid terms. For example if I had 4 courses sem one and 4 sem 2, they would only look at my top 6 from sem 1 finals and sem 2 mid terms rights. For example if I have a 94 average with 3 courses sem one but an outlier of 54% on the 4th but it’s not a prerequisite I should be fine right. They would only look at the highest marks in sem 1 finals and sem 2 mid terms including necessary prerequisite right. I’m just worried about that one outlier.

Does anyone have any tips on a cleaning solution that will help get the outside of this Dutch oven clean? It comes off with enough elbow grease, but it’s utterly unrealistic for my 14 and 10 year old dishwashers to handle. By the 3rd time they tell me it’s clean I usually give up. I probably need to keep scouring but I figured I would ask to see if there is something out there.

MY BACKGROUND: I'm 28F. Born in US. Recently split from a four year relationship with my child's father. We have a two year old and split the week in half with 50/50 custody. It's going well, no issues. As humbly as I can, I still look good so I still having a solid dating life, good career, and I'm happy,
Back in early December, this guy stopped me in a grocery store and asked me on a date. After texting, I found out he was only 21 and ghosted him. Few weeks later, I gave him a chance and its been going really well. I have an apartment and two cars, he still goes out of his way to pay for everything we do, he's introverted and more of an observer (he says he has social anxiety), I'm more fun and lively, so it equals out, we goof off a lot and the sex is good.
HIS BACKGROUND: He (21M) moved to the US when he was 18 (from my family's native country so we have that in common). He says he left due to gang violence - he comes from a good family and his parents did not want him around that. He lives with his aunt and works full time at a hotel. He does not have a car. All of his family is back in his native country but they talk daily. He speaks VERY maturely and you can tell he's ahead of his years.
Things progressed quickly and then came to a COMPLETE halt recently. We were going out often, arcades, dinners, the gym, he was always available, stayed over most nights, he expressed a lot of interest in meeting my son and teaching him soccer, we were having a great time, and then suddenly after three weeks his birthday comes around and everything changes... He initially agreed we'd go out on his birthday (it was two days ago) but two days before he started acting distant and dodged me saying it was just "any other day and he doesn't want to celebrate" also stating his cousin was killed around this time. I assumed he was going out with others, but he stayed in the entire day... He never reached out on his birthday (he always hits me up) but picked up all my Facetimes through the day and he was just playing video games eating take out the whole day. I even playfully asked him for a tour to make sure I didn't see signs of a female and none... I started to get confused and pressed him about why he was suddenly acting so weird... He denied it. The next day he said he needed to tell me something in person. He finally came out and said he needs a wife! I'm so confused because how has he stayed here for three years? How does he have a job? And why is he suddenly telling me so straight up now??? We left it at that and I changed the subject. He's supposed to come over tonight but he's still unusually distant and hasn't brought it up again.
