2025.02.01 20:39 InextricableOne digiKam: how do I consolidate albums into one?
I was importing photos with the auto-creation of date-based sub-albums using yyyy-MM. Then, for a few months, I used yyyy-MM-dd. That created a bunch of albums (and corresponding folders on disk). Now I want to switch back to using yyyy-MM and consolidate the ones that are now in yyyy-MM-dd into their own yyyy-MM albums, like all my other albums are. So, I created a new album for 2024-11 and dragged and dropped each of the 2024-11-dd albums into it. Now in the album list it looks like how my other albums are arranged.
The problem now is that when I click on the 2024-11 album I don't see all the thumbnails for the sub-albums under it, like I do for my other yyyy-MM albums.
I saw a post somewhere that said to use Tools>regenerate-thumbnails (or something like that), but I don't see that tool.
I tried scan for new items, repair hidden items and refresh and restarting the app. That hasn't fixed it.
I'm on KDE Plasma Neon 6.2.

Hey everyone, Recently saw that OpenAI is accusing Deepseek of using GPT-4 outputs to train their own open-source model. where do we draw the line on this?
On one hand, companies like OpenAI spend a ton of money training these models so it makes sense they'd wanna protect them. But at the same time if everything stays locked behind closed doors, doesn't that just give more power to big tech and slow down progress for everyone else?
What’s the general take on this? Should AI companies have stronger protections to stop others from copying their work or does keeping things closed just hurt innovation in the long run?

2025.02.01 20:39 cardgamerzz Is it possible to completely avoid hair breakage?
So I've been growing my hair out for a while now and its finally at a length that I feel happy with.
My hairdresser advised me to dry various types of shampoo like sulfate free ones to help with hair breakage prevention. I've also bought various no plastic hair brushes to help prevent hair getting tangled or caught. But occasionaly I still pull out hairs or hair gets broken.
I'm wondering what else i can do or if its normal that a few hairs get broken each time I brush? Maybe its something you can't completely avoid.
I try not to use conditioner or hair masks every day, maybe like every other day, and I usually let it air dry but maybe I should use a hair dryer as well? But I'm worried the heat from it might damage the hair. ny advice would be greatly appreciated.

I think I have encountered a bug where i am getting the xp penalty of 10% when i die in act 1 cruel on my new monk. Not only that, but i seem to gain no xp at all ever sincer i got into cruel, for reference my character is lvl 35 and i am currently in ogham village, area lvl 49 and the tooltip says that at my current rate i need 4 more hours to get a level up. Did anyone else encounter this?

Hey everyone!! I’m looking for some advice on how to take care of my hair-type. I believe I have 2a waves (could be wrong) and I’ve always struggled with how to take care of them! My roots get oily very very quickly and I recently got bangs which does not help the problem. My ends also get very dry and frizzy. I currently use lush rehab shampoo, ouai hair gloss, and occasionally professional series hydrating argon oil hair mask on my ends. Does anyone with a similar hair type have any products that work well for them?

Just went in for an interview for a to-go specialist. I was asked my work experience and I told them my current job as a salesman, and my last job in construction. After the interview I was told they were interviewing multiple people and would let me know their decision tomorrow. Now I'm second guessing everything I said bc I didn't expect to be competing with others. I feel like everyone else that interviews will be talking about their restaurant experience while my jobs weren't even relevant. And the kicker is before construction I spent 5 years managing orders for a company (answering phones, customer service, processing payments, packaging and shipping) which I never got to mention during the interview. Should I call and tell them I forgot to mention that I do have relevant experience??? I'm feeling very unconfident about my chances at the moment.

Hi, I consider myself a bit of a beginner again having taken a 12+ year break from spinning vinyl. I am interested in knowing more about the Rane 12 MK2s and how anyone would incorporate using STEMS with them?
I imagine as they do not have as many buttons as other controllers (Rane Performer for example) it is entirely dependant on the choice of mixer, and that means going for something with all of those additional pads so you can assign STEMs - have I got that right?
If this is the case I have been trying to weigh up my options between a Rane Performer or some Rane 12 MK2s and a mixer like a Reloop Elite or a Rane 72/70.
I visited a reputable DJ equipment retailer today, I was dazzled by the "shinies" of the Rane Performer with its dedicated STEM buttons and the convenience around the deck itself, by the heart desires bigger platters, and potentially turntablism mash up dabbling, which I think both set ups would be capable of (12 MK2s and Performer).
If money was no object, I would buy the lot. I'm keen to hear your take though. This is just an expensive hobby for now, I have no intentions of becoming a prodigy.. (yet!).
