2024.11.25 09:39 Mortal_1_ I've got a coach, how hard is it to get decent at the game?
I've had a cue for years and have the odd game I'm the club with my dad, if any of us potted a red and a black that would more than likely be the Highest break of the game.
A few months ago a room became available at work, I looked on Facebook and there was lots of snooker tables available very cheap. I had to collect it myself which is a story in itself, somehow me and a friend took the table down, brought it to my room up 2 flights of stairs and set it back up. I've since had a table fitter in to cloth and level it properly.
For the last 4/5 months I've been seeing a snooker coach and practicing. The improvement has been huge, but I didn't realise how hard the game would be to get good at. I'm still an absolute novice at the game but I've started documenting my progress. I decided to film practice routines and upload them to YouTube, the idea being that I will be able to look back at the practice in the future and hopefully be able to see the improvements. I've been uploading for a couple of weeks and a few people have been watching and helping with advice. I've really appreciated that.
There is so many people actually good at this game, I want to be able to hold my own at some point in the future against them. I'm not expecting it to be easy or quick, but I'm determined to make sure I succeed.
How possible is it that I'll be able to get to a point where I hit a 100 break in a game in a year? That right now sounds crazy, but by next Christmas I want to make that happen.
Any advice would be great, from both a snooker side, or if you have any knowledge on YouTube, I'm a beginner at both 😂

2024.11.25 09:39 SumeLaMarciana 15 male cat with mammary tumour - unsure what to do next
My almost 16 year old male cat has a mammary tumour (likely aggressive).
He was scheduled for surgery after his CT scan but the surgeon was concerned about performing the surgery because the tumour was too close to muscle/abdominal lining so decided not to go ahead.
The vets have now given me the option of going to an oncologist or have said they can continue to monitor him until he gets more unwell (they said he only has about 4 months+ left because this type of tumour tends to be aggressive).
I'm really struggling to decide what is the best option for my cat. Part of me wants to take him to the oncologist, but it's an hour away and I don't want him to be even more stressed (poor boy hasn't been himself because he's had to wear a cone for about a month to stop him reopening the lesion on his abdomen). Considering the distance and potential chemo, I don't want his last few months to be stressful for him even if it means I get to spend more time with him.
The other option is to let him live his life as normal at home until he succumbs to the cancer which is a really difficult thought because I feel like I haven't done enough even though this is not curable.
If anyone has had any personal experiences dealing with a cat with cancer, I'd love to hear your thoughts.

Currently 26 weeks pregnant and our whole household (me, husband & 2yo) is dealing with some horrible virus. We all have fevers/coughs and I also had nausea/vomiting for around 12 hours on the first day. I’ve been controlling my fever with paracetamol as per the dmidwife’s recommendations.
I made the mistake of googling and now have spiralled into convincing myself that, because of this, baby is going to have autism or some other developmental delays or issues. I keep seeing articles about how bad fevers are in the second trimester, about how flu/viruses can cause neurodevelopmental issues etc. Especially in boys, which is what we are expecting.
I know I’m probably being irrational, know myself that correlation doesn’t mean causation etc., but I’m pregnant, sick and now totally stressed 😫 I lost my last pregnancy at 21 weeks pregnant so just feel worried about anything happening again.
Has anybody been in a similar position and gone on to have healthy babies? Just looking for a bit of comfort!

We have used Updraft to back our site up for years. Every two hours the email notification would arrive saying "job done".
Recently it stopped automatically backing up. It's proving impossible to pinpoint the cause and originally thought it was caused by a plugin update. However, the test/dev site will still back up using cron without issue.
Since then we have applied latest plugin updates and a full update to Wordpress itself. The hosting company has confirmed cron is enabled and we can see the cron jobs thanks to Cron Admin, and the job can be manually trigger.
But automation has stopped. We have tried everything listed here:
