hey guys as the holidays come up my son [whose 10] is interested in sports cards specifically basketball well seems hes more into the whole ripping them open and seeing players he knows then like the actual finding chase cards or ones worth money. so I'm kind of on a search for a set that's relatively cheap that i can get a ton of packs that would contain recent players like last 2 or 3 years. and btw got to use dumb language when it comes to this i collect football mem but cards are a foreign concept for me.

2024.11.25 15:53 Budget-Phone-1466 I don't like my first job, should I hang in there? Is it too early to try to switch?
Hey guys, 2024 grad, interned at a company A. Wasted 6 months with "Training" where we basically had to build full stack apps like a college project. Post that, got converted and assigned to a project. It was automation testing using Robot Framework. I was very disappointed as I wanted a development role. Tried to talk to my manager, he said there were not many projects that had a dev requirement for junior position. Worked on it for 2 months. Had to build the whole regression suite from scratch so it wasn't too bad or boring or un-fulfilling. After 2 months, got to know the project didn't have enough funding so I was being moved to another project for the same work (automation testing using Robot Framework). Now this new project already has a suite in place. I've been here only one week but from what I can see - most of your day to day work is testing stuff manually (this app has no frontend, so you make api calls, go into pods and look at some logs). And in each sprint, you get 1-2 automation related user stories, which is barely any "coding" (robotframework doesn't feel like coding).
Is this how software jobs in corporate are? Does my description indicate that I don't belong corporate? I worked in a startup before for summer internship and although poorly managed, I felt satisfied. Should I look for a change? I've been here full time only for 3 months.

With lots and lots of time you'll become proficient, but you need to get that experience first
Patterns, Indicators, strategies, fundamentals, are all information that you will automatically absorb because you'll be inspired to understand the reason for a certain movement or why the asset did what it did that particular day

Hello everybody,
I'm new to playing tabletop RPG, and my friends and I just found WOD. We particularly loved the idea of playing as the hunters. However, we've been struggling to find what edition to play and what the main differences between them are. If someone can give their opinion on which one fits our criteria best i'd really appreciate it.
We loved the idea of playing as normal, everyday people finding out the supernatural world exists. We want to just play as normal people stacked against the odds, so no "magically chosen" or magical abilities. Just straight taking on a vampire with a homemade flashbang and whatever stuff we could cobble together. More realistic if that makes sense. But we also wanted to have the ability to be free if we so choose, so no getting forced to join an organization. We literally want a game where Joe the plumber finds out his client is a vampire by looking in a place he shouldn't have and now he's got to get together with a bunch of other basic people and figure out how they're gonna fightback with duct tape and hope.
From what I've seen, that rules out the original hunter: the reckoning. But 5e and vigil:2e seem to fit. However I can't find a straightforward answer on which one fits that criteria. Any ideas?

Hello, I’m going to spare you all the details for now but I have a race/age complaint centering on an unjust non renewal of my contract.
I first filed with the state agency but they felt it appropriate to kick it over to EEOC. Probably because I am now living in an adjoining state.
EEOC offered initial mediation and I refused. EEOC investigator called and again pressured me to mediate.
I made it clear that I’m not after just money. In fact, because this company’s actions are in part responsible for my having to declare bankruptcy- I wouldn’t see a cent of any mediation anytime soon. No - I don’t want this EVER to happen to anyone else, ever again - and of all the sleazy things this company does (who also gets federal and state funding) - this is one thing that I have absolute proof and witnesses for.
My question to you all - is it common for EEOC to pressure mediation? The individual today even tried to convince me that it would eventually wind up in conciliation and that they would just go back to their old ways soon after? And that I could demand training or other non-monetary things. I want to make it as painful as possible for them so that there is an increased chance of effecting real change.

I joined a company some time back. My boss is always screaming on calls, like literally shouting at others on insignificant issues. Almost all the times the work is getting done on time, employees are stretched thin, everybody is efficient, he still manages to scream at any nonsensical, insignificant issue. He humiliates people all the time, puts them down, never appreciates, even the employees who’ve been super trustworthy and been with the company for many years. The pay is below average for the skill level. There are no promotion opportunities.
Though I don’t think screaming and putting down others is acceptable no matter what, I am willing to give him benefit of doubt if the sky is falling, but that is clearly not the case.
He is super rude and every time one has to communicate with him for day to day tasks, it becomes an anger fit. There are situations where his direct reports need to just take an input, ask for approval for a proposal, or just instances where one can say ‘let’s figure it out’ - in all such situations his response is the same - shouting. I have seen toxic bosses in the past but he definitely surpasses them by leaps and bounds. In fact I cannot imagine a human being can be so full of malice.
It is amusing to me that despite he keeps talking about loyalty despite the toxicity. He abuses others who leave the company in a short tenure and badmouths them.
I am really confused is loyalty worth the toxicity, harassment and mental abuse?
