My first few months with my id.4 have been great, but there’s one thing that’s confusing me. I was under the impression that preconditioning your cabin while plugged in is the right thing to do because it saves battery - but I have yet to see my car do this. If I turn the climate control on from the app, it doesn’t draw any power, it just uses the battery.
Is there any way to make it do this? I have a large commute (150km each way) that I do several times a week, so I like to maximize my charge so I can do 120km/h. The other morning I charged to 100%, preconditioned for 20 mins or so and it was at 99%. Not a huge deal I guess, but I always understood that EV’s would draw from the wall when plugged in…
