Currently China’s Fragile Unity JE requires you to complete the following:
- Become recognised.
- Finish the Boxers Rebellion successfully.
- Finish the “Stamp out Monarchism” JE.
Boxers Rebellion require Political Agitation researched, which is a tier 4 tech you are unlikely to get before 1910s. The real life rebellion happened in 1900 and really it should be an earlier tech that causes it — perhaps Pan-Nationalism and Human Rights.
But the game breaking thing about it is how this JE works: it pops if you have Manchu primary culture AND a country other than you have a Han homeland state, which means you can’t finish it if 1) you already took back Macau or 2) you chose to remove Manchu primary culture when you became a republic.
I honestly think this JE/requirement should be bypassed if you own every Han homeland state.
The requirement on stamp out monarchism is similar, except it’s worse: if you enact the new Corporate State you don’t get “Stamp out Monarchism”, and you can’t get it later when you enact a republic, either. Like wtf paradox? Corporate states should get stamp out monarchism too, or at least give us an alternative requirement.

2024.11.25 18:40 synthexic_ Final Fantasy XIV -- What causes this?
I'm having this weird random video noise shit happen in this game. This is a fresh install so I don't have anything else to compare it to. The GPU is literally 60 days old so I don't think it's the GPU. However it is worrying because it resembles a GPU that's failing. The only way I can reproduce this is by annoyingly tapping the windows key to make it happen. Otherwise it happens whenever it feels like.
I believe it's software related because a few times the screens gone blank and wayland has stopped and I'm back at the greeter.

For a few years now, I have had the idea to create an app for planning overland trips. I take a few trips a year and there's a lot involved with planning.
As an app developer, I decided to build a prototype app for the purpose of planning outdoor trips. I have a working beta completed and I'm hoping to get a few people to take a look at it. It also works for camping and backpacking.
My question: is a planning app something overland enthusiasts would use? Is it worth completing and releasing in the App Store? I built it for myself and I'm going to use it, but would you?
At this time, the beta is only available for iPones (iOS 18).
You can try it out on TestFlight here.
The app currently has the following features and there will be more if the app has a future:
- Itineraries for planning locations, tasks, activities and meals by day (with maps for locations)
- Gear lists with pre-populated gear so you don't have to type in each item
- Meal plans with recipes (only a few while in beta but there will be a lot more if this has legs)
- The ability of invite friends who can also collaborate on the trip with you (only if they have an iPhone currently)
- Document storage for permits and things
- Expense tracking
- Emergency information and more

TL:DR - Wife dropped random Fousey line from 2 years ago at a family dinner.
A brief preface if you will. I'm the H3 fan in the Family. She picks up some goofs and gaffs by osmosis but mostly doesn't watch - and that's fine. If there's an especially great segment she'll definitely sit down and watch, and she's no stranger to the varying memes. We in particular loved the papier-mâché Ethan head segment and a few others (like the sound bite awards.)
My wife and I also have a long haired doxy boy named Fenrir. He's no stranger to this subreddit. He's a godsend of a dog - helping me a ton claw my way out of my deep depression after having lost my dogs in a two week period. He's funny, quirky, silly, and ridiculously intelligent. He also loves cheese. We give it in extreme moderation as a high value reward for good behavior and training and he goes bonkers over it.
Naturally, I had to show my wife the soundbite / clip of Fousey at Keemstar's. This was two years ago that I showed this to my wife - right around when it first came out.
Ok. So here's the story. A few days ago we were at a family dinner celebrating her birthday. We were eating at an Irish pub and I snagged their shepherd's pie. It's incredible, and I usually get cheese on top - it becomes this melty gooey mix of potato-y, cheesy, meaty goodness. She got the fish and chips (which are also insane at this location - it's a restaurant we live near on the Strip in Vegas) and so I shared my food with her.
She grabs the fork, digs into it to get a solid bite and the cheese is just wild. She drags the fork out covered with the shepherd pie goodness and exclaims, "He keeps giving me cheese!" The deepest of cuts.
And that's it. And then I found 5 dollars. But gosh it was hilarious.
