I am thinking of getting the AppleTV 4k, but I have a couple of questions.
I am wanting to use two Homepod Gen 2s as my TV speakers as opposed to getting a soundbar, but I would also want this to work with my xbox. Is there a way to route the xbox audio over the homepods using the apple TV?
Also, can Apple TV be made to change TV inputs on an old "dumb" TV? It has CEC and ARC, but it doesnt have smart features, which is why I keep the TV.

 | Hi all! Recently I was crawling FB Marketplace and came across these Bose 301 Mk II's (released originally in 1975) in great condition. I paid around $100 for these, which isn't dirt cheap, but with the condition these are in I felt reasonably good about purchasing them. The surrounds seem all in-tact and stock, and the cloth covers have no imperfections. I didn't see much good conversation about the units anywhere, so I decided to make a short review/overview of my early experiences with these guys. First of all, they're honestly gorgeous speakers. I love different coloring of the grille and cloth covers and how the mdf/veneer shell goes around the whole thing except the far side. They go great with my space, especially with that mid-century modern aesthetic. Another quirk of the speakers is the direct/reflecting sound. The idea here, which was famously started with the 901's, is that by having a driver firing towards the wall, you can get a much more immersive soundstage and wider stereo image. I'll get to subjective perceptual stuff later, but I can definitely tell that they image completely differently from other loudspeakers I've heard. Okay, now to address the obvious comments. I'm obvious amenable towards the Bose brand, both old and new. I grew up with the lifestyle systems, and had a Bose-tuned system in my first car. I know a lot of audiophiles have an unreasonable hatred for the brand, but this is a really unique product that a reproduced sound that was entirely different to the usual 2 channel playbook. I personally have a pair of tuned studio monitors I use for music production. Y'all really should give their stuff a fair shake! Onto subjective evaluation: I listened both with and without EQ'ing the speakers to mitigate some real bad room modes I have in my living room. I listened to a recording of the Planets by Holst, lots of instrumental jazz, and plenty of my usual music playlists. The first thing you notice is the width and diffusion of the sound stage. Center-stage instruments do come from the middle, but the source feels pretty spread out. Non-correlated stereo content feels like it washes over the room and spreads past the position of the speakers. For orchestral content, this was a wonderful experience compared to a standard system. I hear that many of Bose's early speakers were designed chasing the sound of Boston Symphony hall, and having recently gone to an orchestral performance there, I can hear the influence. The 8 inch woofers provided more than enough bass response, down to about 35 Hz according to my measurements. Sure, people can hear down to 20 Hz, but I'm not missing that last octave personally. The twiddletweeter does roll off by 14kHz which does leave these speakers without some treble information, but I can sacrifice that for casual listening when the sound stage is as interesting and rich as it presents. They're certainly not super linear or analytical, but when you're trying to enjoy music on the couch, that's really not that important to me. Overall, this speaker gets more right that it does wrong. It doesn't have accurate staging or frequency response, but makes up for it with a downright fun experience. If I had to make any changes, that last 5kHz of frequency response would be lovely to see. I just watched the final episode of S3, and I am speechless. Waiting for the next is going to be a suffering. on last episode, That violin scene is one of the most beautifully made moment from the show. They really created the magic, just like how Michael Giacchino elevated LOST scenes with his masterpieces. The music made everything so emotional, even though we don't know what the fuck is happening. Then the reveal that fucking smiling asshole, that is cinema.

I was hoping for some help or recommendations. My mum and dad and some friends from England are coming over for Christmas to see me and my partner! We’ve been planning out things to do and where to eat but we’re stumped on Christmas Day. We’re just spending the day at the beach and having a couple drinks etc. For dinner we didn’t fancy a really expensive fancy meal instead we just wanted an Indian, or a more casual dinner after being at beach all day.
My mum and dad are staying in darling harbour, our friends Bondi junction and we’re in rose bay. I’ve tried looking to see what’s open online but can only find articles with high end restaurants that are expensive and not the vibe we wanted for Christmas Day. Does anyone have any recommendations of casual places that are open in the evening we could book?
