2024.11.25 20:49 Left-Frog Video game recommendations for my father that isn't as good as he used to be?
My dad has been a gamer since before I was born. N64 and since. Currently uses PS4 the most. He's always loved playing first/third person shooters - probably the only genre he's interested in these days, so factor that in.
He's getting up there in age now and he struggles with the CoD and BF campaign modes now (he loves the campaign modes, doesn't touch multiplayer... For obvious reasons). His reflexes and inputs just aren't as good as what they used to be and its sad to see him buy games sometimes and just not be able to play through them without struggling.
There is one big exception though, the Sniper Elite series. These games are definitely difficult with a high skill ceiling, but they enable my dad to play at a pace he can enjoy, without worrying too often about having fast enough reactions to kill two corridors of enemies in quick succession.
He's able to take his time, map out the area and plan what he's going to do accordingly. He loves this step. It could take him 2 hours, it's just how he relaxes and enjoys his games now.
So my question is, do you guys have any recommendations for games like Sniper Elite? Games that are shooters, but ones with an open level where you can take your time and stealthily work your way through.
World Wamilitary games get triple points, he's a sucker for that stuff.
MGSV is obviously perfect, but I think the wacky story is too much of a barrier to entry unfortunately. It also might be too big of a game.

For example, when she was “explaining” to Sunny why she brought Rory, she suddenly brought up her parents being taken away from her at an early age and that being the reason why she didn’t want to tell him sooner; to me it seemed like ingenuity and like an excuse/sob story. I know some people dislike the idea of MP ideas as they take focus away from SP. Having a separate PvPvE game mode with 12-24 players on the map would be interesting. Enough players to be populated but still have a sense that the world is desolate.
•Players could be part of a Faction making factions more viable. Higher standing with a fraction gives better missions, more vendor inventory, better prices. •Certain Factions already have a Dislike/Like of other factions. •Killing a Npc or player of another faction or even someone that's the same faction as you, lowers your status with said faction. •Maybe have influence points to spend to have your faction send Npcs to capture/takeover other strongholds/bases/towns/settlements. This may be the only time combat is allowed at a settlement. As players may assist either side attacking or defending. 24-48 in game time for faction conversion. Failed attacks. The settlement will continue as normal with a 24-48 cooldown before the next attack. •Settlements won't have PvPvE naturally(with the exception of the statement above) as they are Hubs for players to Buy/Sell/Trade/Stash items, Collect missions and rewards. •If your status with a faction is too low in a settlement. That settlement might not have their entire inventory open to you they may charge you more or give you difficult low paying missions til you prove you can be trusted.
•Players still have their own stash within settlements that they have a neutral or good standing with. •Any gear you take out on mission may be lost if killed with the exception of koupons(maybe a percentage lost 5-10%). •Players can trade/sell or drop items to each other. •Players can be picked up on the Geiger CounteDetector if they are carrying an artifact. •Player can share their current mission with other players if they need help(This is a risk). •Maybe players can claim or just use random locations where they can hide or have a personal stash. Like setting up a camp. •Upon Death you respawn at the nearest neutral/friendly faction settlement or temporary camp(Maybe a choice to choose which one) •Telling Factions apart may be difficult at the time. Maybe armbands or more noticeable patches to differ who's part of what faction
This is all speculation. I'm not sure how this works in the sense of balance and having fair gameplay. As people all may be the same faction. Or some people may camp outside of settlements waiting to exploit others. This may be countered by alerting the settlement and having the Npcs come to protect the player and settlement. Having player servers may counter this as they become communities
Any other ideas would be appreciated.

2024.11.25 20:49 imsofullofhate I don’t want to leave and move back to my home country. But the job market is forcing me to. I’m just looking for some kind words and/or advice.
I'm from South Asia. I've been in the Netherlands since 4 years. I came here as a Master's student, with the intention of working and settling down, at least for a few years. But it's proving to be impossible because of the shitty job market.
I just got rejected from a job today after going through 4 interviews and an extensive take-home test. I've been interviewing all year, and this feels like the final nail in the coffin.
I work in UX, and it seems like this is one of the worst industries to be in the world over.
I genuinely love it here - weather, food, culture and all. I was gearing up to take my inburgering exams soon.
But now I'm at the end of my job-search period and I guess I have to face facts. I feel burnt out and stressed about what's waiting for me when I move back home.
Does anyone have experience with this? How am I supposed to navigate this? I feel like a complete failure, and like it says in the title, I really don't want to leave.

I’m reaching out to you all, the professionals, because I feel like BCBAs might have this conversation with parents more frequently than myself.
I have a little niece with level 3 autism who is exclusive to the iPad. And I mean, exclusive. She has no interest in toys, she can’t be fed unless there’s the iPad is on. She can’t tolerate being changed without having the iPad. Can’t have a bath without the ipad. She has incredible tantrums at the instant her iPad is turned off or is taken away to be charged. The minute this child wakes from a nap my grandma rushes to get the iPad in front of her face.
My grandma is her sole caregiver. I’ve had lengthy conversations with my grandma about how this iPad set up is not good at all. But my grandma always reply’s with “you try taking the iPad away and seeing how she does, she needs it!” “The iPad is the only thing that calms her down” “if it weren’t for the iPad she would be tantruming all the time”
And to which I say, “grandma, I know. It’s not the iPad that’s saving her from that, the root of this problem is the iPad”

Hi everyone! I need a little advice. I recently graduated and got a job a a CRC at a nonprofit hospital. Prior to this I’ve had two internships (UPenn in immunology and Loyola in Chicago for bioinformatics). The bioinformatics one turned into something that extended until the following year spring because of how much the PI felt I was excelling at it. I’ve also done two other research projects while in undergrad. I’ve also presented research at ~3 conferences.
I came into the interview just wanted a job because it took forever to find one! In the end I was offered 58,656. As of now: I am currently a site monitor for an international study at the lead site (it is a registry study- we will be signing over 14 sites eventually and some are animal model development, cell line development, enrollment, or biobanks), I also have taken over sample shipping and processing for a Latin American tumor board project, have been added on small data entry projects, and have become the primary for about 3 new studies. I also do other small things like designing website aesthetics for the study.
Should I ask for a raise? I feel like the interview was not a full scope of the responsibility. And if so what’s reasonable ? I do not want to be unreasonable or unrealistic in this situation. Some help please?
