2024.11.25 21:32 Minimum-Oil- Best tips on making your own board game that you don't see a lot/at all?
I'm looking for rare tips specifically, because I've exhausted all websites/videos that I could find and have tips. Meaning, common advice is misplaced here, but you can still give it if you'd like for others who will see this post in the future.
So I'm planning on making a cutesy board game with a sinister twist, that can be missed if you don't read the cards included or look to closely at everything. It's about starting a garden and the gameplay loop is similar to that of the game of life, where you collect resources, choose different paths and have random events, except with more challenges and combat, as well as resource management.
At the end you can choose to replay but with your current set of stuff, which makes it an easier or harder difficulty depending on how many resources you have at the end. But that mechanic isn't quite done yet (I'm planning on adding curses and blessings, but this is the first time I'm even writing that down).
It's meant to playable solo, co-op and player vs player. Each play style has a slightly different set up. You can also pick and choose from a list of characters, who all have different stats and abilities that can help/hinder you.
Like for solo you can choose to play one character, or multiple at once and all characters share resources, which in all modes can be both limited and unlimited per characteplayer. Backstabbing also works if the possibility has been previously agreed on. Also, each event card and tile you land on can combine (there's only 10 types of tiles and will definitely be less), and give you a whole new story to explore.
There's also another game that I'm kinda working on where each player must collect all the events tied to their chosen fairy tale and the one who gets all events first wins. But that's all I have on this one so far.
Either way, I'm hoping for some rare tips here.
Also, if you'd like to, please tell me if my ideas sound alright from a potential perspective/have been done before. I'd really appreciate that.

This question is really for people getting a PC handheld for the first time, but anyone can reply really.
I would like to see what games people couldn't wait to play through on the Ally X when receiving it. I have downloaded a few games on mine right now and I'm really stuck on what story to play through first. I thought I'd ask here for some other opinions.
The games I'm stuck on whether to play through first.
Uncharted Collection: I've always wanted to play through the whole Uncharted series. I left Playstation after PS2 and went to Xbox and Nintendo, then PC gaming, then finally getting a PS5 for the exclusives, but now I've found I would like to play some of them exclusive portable. This is just an insight of my thought process.
Ratchet and Clank, Rift Apart: again for same reasons as Uncharted. But for Ratchet and Clank, I'm happy to just play Rift Apart and not the whole series.
Read Dead Redemption 2: This game I actually think is perfect from what I have played. I played about 15 hours of the story when the game first released, but then I switched to the online and never went back to the story. I have finished Red Dead Redemption about 4 times, I do love the RDR universe and story. I love anything from Rockstar. But I do know this game is a commitment and is not a pickup and short play friendly for the story aspect, I'm okay with this.
Max Payne 3: This game I have finished when it was released, but to be honest, I do not remember much of the game. All I remember is falling in love with the gun gameplay and physics of the game. So I would like to revisit this game.
Mad Max: I love the Mad Max Universe, but I've never played the game. Its been on my list for a long time but from what I've seen online it looks quite baren, so I've never bit the bullet to play it.
Mafia Remastered: I have finished Mafia 2 about 5 times, it's one of my favourite stories in a game, I love that game. Don't hate me for that haha. I've also finished Mafia 3, that's a good game, very good character stories but quite repetitive. But I've never played the original Mafia game, so I have the remastered version ready to go.
I do have a few more games downloaded but these games listed above are the games I'm leaning more towards when starting a story. The Witcher 3 would be on there but that can wait!
I would love to see what other people couldn't wait to play through on their Ally X, whether that was catching up on your game list or even replaying a game again for a different experience of it being portable this time. I would also like some opinions or discussions on my selection of what to start next, especially as a portable experience.
There are many other games on my list, like God of War, The Last of Us and so on, but I will be experiencing these titles on my PS5 with a 4K monitor.

I got diagnosed with De Quervain’s Tenosynovitis (also known as mother's thumb).
It was so bad. I had an injection in the spring which helped a lot. But then it came back in the summer and I got a second injection. Again it helped, but I'm afraid it's coming back again.
It sounds like the next step is surgery. I understand it to be relatively minor surgery.
But I wanted to check in here to see if any of you have experience with this. Did you have the surgery? Did it help? Are there any downsides to the surgery?

I have partnered with a friend of mine to sell specific set of toys for children. As a proof of consept, we decided to order low quantity, and try to sell them first, before scaling up.
We don't have a physical store, and the primary place to advertise is Facebook, and Facebook marketplace. We enlisted help of another friend who does marketing, he has made our Facebook page, populated the details, and has been publishing posts, and reels for the past month. He has also made black friday promotion posts and reels. He has paid over 100 dollars to Facebook for ads, but we haven't received only 8 messages, and none of them purchased.
When we reply to people asking about the price, they stop responding. Our prices are not high at all, in fact the margins are low, and prices are very competitive in the market.
I can see that businesses that sell lower quality products have a lot of sales, so denand can't be an issue. There's a lot of demand, but we are bit getting any it seems.
Recently someone commented "dodgy" on one of the black friday posts. Probably referring to the fact that there is no official website, or physical location, or the fact that we only have one line of products. Im not sure what else could it be
I've heard there are a lot of scams on Facebook recently, what can I do to build more credibility and show people we are legitimately trying conduct honest business, that the products are genuinly good?
Im asking your help and suggestions. What can we do to improve?
