In the livestream Q&A with ZiggyD, Jonathan was talking about how they have lost countless of hours discussing what DEX should give, and he said that no devs are happy with accuracy but that they haven't found anything better.
What do you guys think of DEX, both thematically and mechanically, and what do you think that DEX should give?
To give you guys something to base yourself off of, here is the wikipedia definition for Dexterity (in D&D):
Dexterity (DEX): Dexterity encompasses a number of physical attributes including hand-eye coordination, agility, reflexes, fine motor skills, balance and speed of movement; a high dexterity score indicates superiority in all these attributes. Dexterity affects characters with regard to initiative in combat, ranged attack rolls, armor class, saving throws, and other physical skills. Dexterity is the ability most influenced by outside influences (such as armor)Here is my opinion:
Personally, I'm not much of a fan of accuracy in an action game like PoE, because if I can see my weapon being swung and connecting with a monster then I feel like that should always be a hit, otherwise action combat starts to feel unreliable and that doesn't feel good. In other types of games, such as turn based games, I like accuracy checks. Because in those games you are always making calculated decisions, and that can be really fun, but I don't think that accuracy works as well in a action game.
My first idea was that it would've been intuitive if all three base stats gave its own form of defense (Life, Energy Shield and Ward). However, I quickly realized that Ward doesn't fit thematically with the word Dexterity. This made me realize that Strength also doesn't make a lot of sense with life either. Constitution (CON) is a stat that exists in many other games and CON is much more appropriate for life points. I'm not going to argue about Strength in this post but, for additional context, here is what constitution means:
Constitution (CON): Constitution is a term which encompasses the character's physique, toughness, health and resistance to disease and poison; a high constitution score indicates superiority in all these attributes. The higher a character's constitution, the more hit points that character will have. Constitution also is important for saving throws, and fatigue-based general checks. Unlike the other ability scores, which render the character unconscious or immobile when they hit 0, having 0 Constitution is fatal.Anyway, this whole analysis of what an stat really means made me wonder: What if we have the wrong naming scheme for the base attributes? Could it be that Dexterity feels limiting because we have been using a bad attribute name for it?
So, in my search of wanting to make Ward make sense with the Ranger, another ability name came to mind: **Perception**.
I feel like term Perception works well with the theme of **perceiving nature**, which is a theme that already exists in PoE 1, with many nodes around the ranger area already being themed around nature (such as One With Nature, Forces of Nature, Nature's concoction, Mother's Teachings, Lesson of the Seasons and many others). Additionally, when other games explore the concept of nature, they often have skills where nature protects you in some way or another. For example, in Baldur's Gate 3 there is a skill called Nature's Ward, which I believe protects you against certain ailments. That said, I think that Ward being part of the base stats could fit the ranger area quite well.
Anyway, I just wanted ramble a little bit about the topic and I'm sure that my ideas might have a lot of problems too. Feel free to dissect my idea or introduce your own ideas for what DEX should give you.

2024.11.25 21:30 Apprehensive-Law-545 friend just got Isaac and all the dlcs including rep+ but i cant play online with them even though we join the same lobby.
so me and my friend have been discussing Isaac and he said he was going to get it. today he got it and i walked him though downloading repentance+ and when we go to play online so i can help him unlock some stuff but when go and try to play online and join the same lobby is boots up both to different lobbies. I don't know if it's cause he never played the game before and it's the same thing as using mods where you need to defeat moms foot once to use them and get achievements or it is something on one of our ends and we can fix it like that.
it would help to know if its something i can fix by walking him through something or he just needs to defeat moms foot. (idk if bug is the correct thing to put for this)

In my recent GURPS 4E game, my DM gifted the players with unique and random abilities, and I got two levels of Mana Enhancer. I'm aware of the risks involved with failing any spell because of this, so I wanted ideas for builds that would let me make the most of this power without messing up the party too much. Maybe a mage focused on area control or one who uses their power to share mana with allies?

I don't really see how could I use traps well in DnD. My old DM was always just asking us what order we go through the corridor and since we were always using the Rogue first, she was just spotting them. As for me, I don't really use them at all right now. I don't see how could I. I think a big part of the problem is that there isn't any skill needed - you just go forward and either see them with your Passive Perception or you do not, I don't know how to push my characters into strategic and tactical moves aganst them

Is it just me noticing how before Christians were so against the idea of other beings in the universe and that we are the only creations of God therefore we are alone in this universe? Now that we’ve had whistleblowers coming out, all of a sudden there are so many Christians claiming that Aliens have been part of the bible and religion for a long time?
I’m sticking to my instincts that Christianity have always played a big part in covering up the existence of aliens so they can continuously lie and scam people for money and create a false narrative about the world we live in.
Now they are trying to connect their religion to the UAPs/NHIs to stay relevant in the economy incase a Catastrophic Disclosure happens.

Roman and medieval Iberians had A LOT of North African admixture from populations such as the Carthaginians and Moors, more than Iberians today, a study I recently read claims medieval Valencians were 14-18% Berber, and Canary Islanders are only around 20-25% Berber, so I assumed it was mostly from them. However, Canary Islanders have an extremely high frequency of Guanche-specific haplogroups like U6b1 and U6c1 which couldn't have been from the other two groups, indicating that they have significant genetic contributions from the aboriginal population, so what is going on here?

Anyone worked with smaller doses of harmalas orally for frequent use?
My go to oral harmala dose for oral dmt / vaporhuasca is 150mg harmine, 50mg THH with a touch (5-10mg) of harmaline. I took ~30mg harmine expecting sub-perceptible effect and was pleasantly surprised. Minor psychoactive effect, slightly stimulating, noticeably anxiolytic. Pleasant effect overall, I plan to double the dose and see how that goes.
Also interested in hearing harmaline experiences.

Hi all,
I’ve been dealing with a chronic skin infection since 2017. I recently saw a derm that said it was out of their scope. I’m now waiting on a referral to a new derm plus have an upcoming appointment with a rheumatologist.
My symptoms are persistant even tho trying various treatments - minocycline for 3 months then clindamycin for 2 or 3, nothing. Prednisone was the only thing to bring it down for me for a week this past summer. Previously in 2021 it was able to calm it down with doxycycline and protopic. The protopic doesn't seem to work anymore. The infection tends to itch, tingle and burn before it explodes and then it's just continues to feel that as it flare up with redness, itching, and oozing. My glands and nodes in my throat and around my ears swell up and hurt for it as well. My entire body feels weak, sore and sick like a flu. I'm not on anything currently for it, other then viaderm cream twice a day to keep it at bay. Washing with foaming cerave once a day, just water in the morning. My chin was swabbed in August and it was staphylococcus but I've also had that one spot on my chin reoccurring since '95 when I was 3 so that really seems off, I don't know anything about this subject tho. I was also diagnosed by a rheumatologist before with hypogammaglobulinemia and IgG deficiency...idk if this is 2 different way of the same thing to be honest.
More possible relevant info - • HLA -b27 gene + •numbness in upper arm/elbow and difficulty lifting objects •extreme fatigue and waves of exhaustion+weakness • joint and systemic inflammation • family history of autoimmune and • 32 years • woman

Has anyone experienced something similar or have advice on what to ask during my rheumatology appointment or with the new specialist? I’m feeling super stuck/defeated and would appreciate any insights.
TLDR- chronic skin infection, antibiotics internally+externally not helpful, only steroidss. Makes whole body feel so sick. TIA for your help!

2024.11.25 21:30 tampa_vice [FL] [Condo] Worried about neighbours interfering with renovation projects and investment values.
So we are supposed to start getting financing to have a project to do extensive renovations around the complex which has been required by the city. It is a lot of money that is being required and quite a few of my neighbours cannot afford it, even on a 15-year loan. We recently elected a new board in response to people being unhappy about the old board.
I think the new board is made of qualified people, particularly in finance and real estate fields. However, there was a certain group of people who pushed for this board to be elected. This group of neighbours is trying to pressure to get the project stopped because they think it is too much money, even though we received five competitive bids. They are convinced that things "should not cost this much" without having any firm quotes of their own. This group has been stirring up other owners on Facebook and Whatsapp and has been in turn spouting off baseless conspiracy theories about fraud by our former board in order to get pressure to stop the project.
Unfortunately, I am starting to worry about these affecting the value of my home. I am also worried that prices will go up on this bid if we delay and that public posts on Facebook could harm our home values. We have over 300 units in our complex and I am a small drop in the bucket, but is there anything I should do or should I just wait this out and let the board handle it?
