2024.11.26 04:31 Difficult_Jelly_6392 How/when did your parents explain to you how you were conceived? (+ other funny things about being an IVF baby)
Hi! I just found this sub and I think it's so fun to be able to talk to other IVF babies. I was curious to see if any of you relate to these things.
My dad never really outright explained to me what IVF was or how I was conceived, but the Dr's office where they had the IVF done was on the way to the beach we usually went to for vacation when I was a kid. He'd always point at it and tell me "That's where you were made!" and I'd say "Don't you mean born?" He'd always just say "nope, made!", and leave it at that, so for the longest time I thought my parents just did the nasty at a Dr's office and conceived me until one of my other family members explained it to me one day lol. Then in middle school (because I was and still am "the weird kid") I thought I had to be a lab experiment gone wrong or something, and with my growing interest in sci-fi movies I developed lots of other theories too haha!
Now as an adult I find it fun to joke about it. When people ask me why I'm so weird, dumb, pretty, smart, annoying, etc. I like to sometimes say that I was made in a lab by the government specifically for that reason. My friends always crack the joke that my parents "spent thousands of dollars" to create me and they ended up with this. I also joke and say that they "paid for the premium parenthood subscription but got a free trial quality kid". Jokes on top of jokes. We have a lot of fun with it lol. My mom also saved photos of the embryos that were prepared for implantation, which are cool to see. It's like, dang, I came from that? It's so surreal to think about.

I donāt mind Andrea Bowen but why did the casting directors think she was a good physical fit to play Susan and Carlās daughter?
I get that being a good actress is more important than looks but when I look at Susan and Carl I think āJulie must have been the milk manās babyā. šš

2024.11.26 04:31 Rising_Gravity1 You have 3 attempts to read the minds of anyone you have met in your life. The only catch is, whenever you read someoneās mind they immediately know that you read their mind somehow.
Whose minds would you read and why?
Some ground rules: 1) you canāt read a personās mind foreveendlessly. You can only probe their mind for a specific thing that you can ask in the form of a question. Say you want to know if your loved one was cheating on you. You could read their mind for that by asking them, āhave you ever cheated on me?ā And you would have your answer.
2) thus, if you try to read someoneās mind for the answer to a really difficult homework problem, it wouldnāt work unless they actually knew the answer. In which case your āmind readingā would be wasted.
3) No reality-warping, omniscient answers please.
4) you can never read minds after the first 3 times, with zero exceptions. But you donāt have to read them right away. You can save your 3 mind-reading uses for emergencies or a future opportunity if you like.
5) Before anyone asks: yes, you can read the same personās mind more than once. But it would use up one of your three āmind readingā instances each time.

Iāve noticed a number of Japanese camera āstoresā selling on eBay. Some have fairly high ratings.

2024.11.26 04:30 MickeyBenedicts Help finding a specific knife
About 5 years ago I bought a few Shun knives. One of them being a small serrated knife, the same size as a Shun paring knife. I loved it when I used to work pantry, made cutting tomatoes a dream. I lost it during a renovation of a place I worked at the time, because I foolishly left my knife bag there. I bought it in a set that also came with a typical shun paring knife. It was just the normal base line of shun, nothing fancy. I believe it was actually called Tomato Knife, but when I looked it up I canāt find anything. If anyone can help me find it or a similar knife I would really appreciate it!

2024.11.26 04:30 tibmeister Azure Local; too good to be true?
Just watched about Azure Local and looked at the resources, but can't get a good feel for the "All In" cost of this, running on your own hardware. The plan, for a test environment, it to re-purpose two Dell vSAN Ready Nodes and kick the tires, but with the hybrid benefit is it really a zero cost situation? Seems a little too good to be true from MS, but then again we pay a lot every year so wouldn't be sad if it was true.
