It's really just 4 of us right now, recalibration hurt me bad I'm 15k rn the other 3 are 18k, 21k, and 21k. Really just trying to get some people together for Premier and Faceit queue. 2024.11.26 05:30 ag9899 Architecture question building a list of user editable rule items to be loaded into an engine.
Hi,
I'm looking for some architectural advice. I'm working on a small side project solo. I'm not a professional programmer.
I made a simple front end to a linear optimizer engine to build up a model with various constraints, run the optimizer, then print out the data. I'm transitioning the front end from hard coded in console to a WPF app. I want to have several various types of rules that can be selected by the user with custom input, then, when the user input is all collected, the user clicks a button to run the optimizer.
I made a ListBox to display the various user added rules, and a Frame to display the input page for the rule. Each rule type needs a different page displayed in the frame to collect the input for that particular rule type.
I'm thinking each rule should be an object, and there should be a collection, like a list that contains all the rules. Each rule object should implement an interface with a method that loads the rule into the optimizer model, so that when the optimizer is run, I can just iterate the list and call that function for each rule. Each rule should also implement a function to return it's user input page to load it into the frame when selected from the ListBox list.
I think this should work, but I'm wondering if I'm missing an idiomatic way to do this.

My (40M) wife (41F) and I are in the middle of getting a divorce. We had been struggling for years, we have different values with raising our kids and she and my family haven't been getting along and it got to the point where we decided a divorce was best, we're getting to a good place co-parenting wise since we both want the other to be in our kids lives.
Last year, our eldest (8) had a student teacher (25m) in their class that both me and my wife loved, he was a really great teacher but also super kind to our kid and helped them through some difficult times (this is the kid that we disagree on). Over the summer, we hired him to tutor them, after he also got hired as a full time teacher at the same school. At this point I had moved out and it was difficult for our kids, but he was a great presence and provided some stability. The tutoring stopped at the end of the summer.
Well, I learned this weekend from a mutual friend, and then got confirmation from my ex, that apparently my ex and the teacher have started hooking up if not dating. I'm really not okay with it. For starters, he plays a role in our kids lives, and while our kids don't know and my ex says that the two things are "separate" I just do not think that's okay. Also, he's really young. Even though he's in his mid 20's, he looks and acts like a teenager and I think it's just wrong and I honestly blame him less because I feel like she's taking advantage. But also, this has to be against the rules somehow with what his job is, even though he's not an active teacher of our kids.
I told my ex that I didn't think this was okay at all and could be bad for our kids and she flipped out on me and told me to stop controlling her, that it was casual and that they just had a connection, all that. And told me I was a huge asshole for caring about who she's sleeping with.
I feel like I'm going crazy here, but I really think this is a bit extreme, obviously I wouldn't care if it was some random person. AITAH?
