2024.11.26 09:49 Infectous Is it just my play style or is military kind of useless in this game?
This is sort of a response to a post made yesterday about army compositions where the first thought that came to mind was, "people actually worry about that?"
As a disclaimer to start off with my only experience thus far is in single player and I play with VIP + AMC on 'Civilization' difficulty and expert personas. So this sort of thing would obviously be different in multiplayer and maybe vanilla AI's are more aggressive.
With that said the AI in this game is so passive it is almost a joke. The only way I have had a war declared on me is when I go out of my way to provoke the AI into doing so with outrageous demands. Even then I feel like you can sit back and placate their war score down until they either white peace or surrender since they NEVER actually come and siege your cities down. That aside it is so easy to ally with everyone and never have to worry about war in this game. The only reason I ever have a standing army is to avoid the diplomatic debuff associate with being perceived as weaker. In the end most of my games end up boiling down to winning in the political/diplomatic battlefield rather than an actual one unless I force the game in a different direction.
Is this just because how I interact with the game or does the AI act this risk averse for everyone else?

So my husband (M30) and I (M29) are roommates with another couple, Abby (F28) and Ryan (M31). We've known them since we were kids and we were in each other's weddings. We get along well as friends.
I just completed a bachelor's degree in the spring and started a new job about a month ago. I make about 50k annually now. My husband and Ryna both make about 30k annually and Abby is disabled but doesn't receive SSD or any other assistance. When we first moved in together we split everything equally. There were significant disagreements on how frequently chores need to be done, but they are getting better about keeping things clean over time.
The Big issue right now is last night, Abby and Ryan told us they want to have a baby. They were talking about how nice it'll be to raise kids with extra hands in the house.
My husband and I dont want kids. We both work very demanding jobs and need to be able to rest when we come home.
Our lease ends in the spring and my husband and I were already considering moving out because of the chores and me making more money now but we were also discussing staying because we know Abby and Ryan can't afford a place by themselves in our area. We know we need to talk to them, but we don't want to come off as if we were telling them that they can't have a baby. We're also really worried about their financial situation and weather they can afford to have a baby even with us all living together.
So what do we do? Do we just tell them we're moving out when the lease ends? Do we try to tell them they can't afford a baby? Do we tell them we'll stay their roommates if they don't have a baby? Do we say f*ck it and become weird uncles/parents to a baby and two adults who should have known better?

Hopefully this doesn't come off as an intense brag, I'm just grateful and haopy- this is everything I've been dreaming about.
I've been doing youtube for a year / 2 now and could never figure out what my "thing" was, I tried a lot and didn't get results (I enjoyed making videos though so it didn't stop me, just felt like a struggle!)
About 2 months ago I decided to really, really focus on this. I wan youtube to be my job and I'm determined to make it so- maybe despite what a lot of people think (especially people in my real life)
The boost I've seen from my efforts, I'm just so happy. I went from 160 subscribers to 560, and 5 / 8 of those total videos over the past 2 months are past 1k views, it's little stuff, but I feel more motivated than ever to keep pushing forward.
This community here has helped a lot too! I got so much knowledge from others here and really good advice, people were honest, not harsh, but would tell me flat-out if what I was doing wasn't great and I definitely needed that to improve. I still have miles to go and it'll be years before I see much I assume, but I'm proud of my journey so far.

I’m not even sure where to start or if this is the right place to post this but I’m just at a loss. So hoping maybe someone on here has some insight.
I’m M 20, about 3 years ago I started suffering from urticaria ( my skin will break out in really bad hives when I get hot,anxious,scared etc) , slowly I started developing more symptoms that seem like it could be pots or something of the sort, ( heavy heartbeat Ecspecially after I eat to the point I have to sit for 1-4 hours and just rot, chest pain similar to cardiac, arm pain, jaw pain, stomach pain, dizziness, clammy sweaty, insomnia) and more. I’ve had multiple dr appts and ultrasounds etc and they all assure me it isn’t cardiac related, and my family dr now just tells me he isn’t sure what to do for me, so I’m at a total loss, I am 20 years old and I can barely do anything I feel like my life is just wasting away, and everyday I think “uh oh this is it for me”
Just hoping maybe somebody in here has had similar experiences or something of the sort as I mentioned before I’m just lost right now and trying every avenue.
