Hey guys,
Just needing some advice. My partners parents are moving countries as they are getting older and want to live closer to family. Initially their plan was to buy a house and move into it. However, they decided to build instead.
Last week, my partner and in-laws were sitting together during dinner. My MIL asked me if she can move in with us while they’re building. This means they’ll be living with us for around 12 months or longer.
I actually have a great relationship with my in-laws, however felt uncomfortable that she asked me. Because if I say no - then I’m the asshole. Therefore, I felt like I had to say yes. I just want to have my space and enjoy our privacy and space. We’ve only been married for two years and having strict parents meant that I couldn’t live with him or even stay the night before getting married.
I asked my partner last night why he made his mother ask me about moving in. He said because he was okay with it, and thought I might have had an issue, so he told her to ask me straight. I tried telling my partner that these decisions should be made as a couple, not my answer and his answer. I wanted to tell him that I felt like I had to agree to it. However, this made him extremely defensive. He got angry and started saying I never ask him when I decide dinner plans with my family that he has to come to.
I tried telling him that there’s a massive difference between dinner and moving in for potentially one year or longer. And I also told him that we never expect him to attend family dinners if he’s not upto it.
I’m just not sure what to do, he’s been giving me the silent treatment and apparently told his parents to not move in.
I’m extremely frustrated because when we got married he told me he could never live with my family, or live close to my family because he wants to have space.
TL;DR: My MIL asked me if they can move in for 12 months. That made me uncomfortable because I felt like I had to agree.

2024.11.26 09:37 hopingtocatchadream Why does my credit card DD never come out when it’s meant to - am I doing something wrong?

I’m fairly new to having a credit card so forgive me if this is just a thing I have to live with but thought I’d ask in case it’s absolutely not normal or if there’s an easy fix.
I’ve had a John Lewis credit card for just over a year now and have the DD set up to come out on the day I get paid (27th of each month). Except it NEVER has. Generally it’s a couple of days late on the 28th/29th but has been as late as the 6th of the next month (and when I go onto the arrange direct debit part of the app it says that I’ve set it as the 27th/28th/6th etc when I absolutely have not).
It has now come out today on the 26th which is a day early and a day before I get paid. Luckily I had that money in savings so wasn’t that much of an issue but for someone in a more precarious position that could’ve been the difference between eating and going hungry. For me it just makes it really annoying to do my financial planning which isn’t the be all and end all but irritating nonetheless. Especially when it’s late but ‘arranged’ so I can’t use it for like a week after payday.
The only thing I can think of that might be affecting it is that I sometimes pay it off halfway through the month. I have a very low credit limit ( 1/3 of my monthly take home salary) so if I make a larger purchase on it to get the points I do pay it off immediately. Otherwise I have no clue. Is it that the 27th is throwing it off? Would k be better setting it to the 1st and leaving it at that? Tempted to turn it off at this point and just pay it off on payday as I know I won’t forget but I’m worried that they’ll keep changing the interest due date and I’ll be no better off.

My Dad wants a 3D printer for Christmas (how the tables have turned 😁). I'm quite experienced with FDM but not necessary firm with reliable entry level printers. After some research the SV06 ACE seems to be sufficiently reliable out of the box with all the features to be future proof. The one downside is the bad wifi coverage in the workshop where the printer will live. Can you still print from a USB drive with the SV06 ACE? It's such a ubiquitous feature that it's not even mentioned in the reviews I've read.
