So near the end of the first movie, Busan was the last bastion, stronghold of the South Korean government against the zombies.
It is pretty much an analogy for the Korean War, where Busan was the last stand and Korea needed the aide of the US to take the peninsula back.
But that's where the similarities end. In the sequel, a plane crashed carrying the infected to Busan and it resulted in total dominion, death and chaos and thus every inch of South Korea was now infected as a result.
In the beginning of Peninsula, a stowaway infected or maybe asymptomatic carrier? Got on a boat, leaving the peninsula and it resulted in total carnage in the cabin the infected guy was in. Luckily the main protagonist was able to close the door and with the aid of the military it was effectively contained.
This pretty much added another concern. Now shortly after this, it was stated that any following ships leaving South Korea was then either not accepted or destroyed on site due to having the risk of being infected.
The last accepted ship was found to be filled with infected. Now idk if this was the protagonist's boat, the successfully quarantined one i mean. Or the worst case scenario of the protagonist's boat happening.
But i believe it was another random unfortunate boat. South Korea is very large man, and so, many uncertain, chaotic things can happen.
Now that got me thinking.
How major of a place, city or country that the boat landed that a near catastrophe was about to happen if it wasn't successful?
Or Where did the random boat land that warrantied a global ban on helping koreans?
My guess is either a very populated country like Japan or the Philippines, or maybe a another part in Asia that was near the mainland.
Could explain why the stowaway koreans near the opening were in Hong Kong.
Probably neither Vietnam, Taiwan or likely mainland China.
These countries are near enough that, any desperate survivor ship would likely go to the nearest country to ensure safety and if an outbreak occurred, they can hold out long enough for them to arrive in a mainland.
For Vietnam, they probably tried to cross to Taiwan, but local fisherman, paranoid officials and coast guards probably put them away in fear of you know "that".
For China, it was probably near and close enough that the world pretty much agreed that if China got infected, the world is doomed.
It was such a close call, as in it was probably found in like a shoreline, daytime so the infected wasn't rushing or everything and those who tried to rescue any survivors nearly got infected.
That's why the "No Korean Ships Help" Protocol took into effect.
I could be overthinking and it probably was Japan, considering it is the nearest to South Korea after China and North Korea.
For North Korea, they probably successfully contained the outbreak, they are the last defenses against total zombie apocalypse. True heroes without a doubt.
Now their fates are unknown, considering the news reporter said "so it would seem" despite the movie saying the north koreans were able to defend the country, explains why China isn't a zombie wonderland.

Hello there ! Been glimpsing this sub for awhile and I’m eventually having a serious try at quitting weed, 10 days now since my last joint and around a month of drastically reducing my consumption…
I’ve been smoking daily since my teenage years -about 1 gram a day- I’m around 30 now.
I’ve started studying at university last September, thus my main motivation is to incarnate myself soberly in order to ease the studies but…
Even tho I feel more energized, I’m completely lacking any sense of discipline and struggle to focus, even my motivation for uni seems to be affected ! It feels weird cause those last two years I’ve successfully juggled between working on the construction site, studying alone for the entering exams of uni, and keeping a good lvl at the sports I do… all that while being « perma-high »… Now that I’m where I wanted to be and somehow manage to keep off weed, I feel like it’s a real battle to set new healthy habits. I feel like a passengeobserver in my body and mind and can’t really take control.
Has anyone lived something similar ?
Excuse my weird English, I ain’t native.
