2024.11.26 16:14 Xaelvik Certain Highly Preserved Foods Make Me Sick. What's causing it?
Hi, all,
I'm 35, and since I was about 9 years old, I've had some sort of allergic reaction or poisoning from certain foods. As a kid it would manifest as my ears turning red, stomach cramps, and migraines. I also vomited once. As an adult, it peaked around 24, with horrible migraines, stomach cramps, really bad heart palpitations, legs going number, and even feeling like I was losing consciousness at several points. I can't emphasize enough how horrible the pain is from the migraines and stomach cramps. How I've learned to deal with it is taking two extra strength Excedrin and two Benadryl. The severity isn't always the same, sometimes it's more mild. Since I've learned to take the meds quickly, I rarely get stomach cramps, mostly migraines. The earlier I take the meds, the more effective it is.
Foods that I've found that have triggered it include the following:
Highly preserved foods, especially foods with artificial powdered cheese Certain pizzas Burger King's burgers if I don't remove the lettuce and pickles Salads at salad bars Fried chicken Most instant foods Macaroni or potato salads from grocery stores Soups, if they're not organic Dominos Pizza Certain ice creams that have a lot of ingredients
And a lot of other things. Foods that don't bother me that seem like they should based on the trend:
Hot dogs Lunch meat Diet soda Sour Cream & Onionin Lays chips Cheddar and Sour Cream Sun Chips Pappa Johns Pizza Pizza Hut Organic foods never bother me
That's just some examples. I've always assumed it's MSG, but some foods that don't have MSG listed in the ingredients still bother me. Any ideas? It's been 20+ years, so I'd love to figure it out.

2024.11.26 16:14 zizoplays1 Theory: ichiban is telling us the story of his games instead of the game telling us it's story
I think most people who have played Y7 or IW know about the "ichiban has schizophrenia" meme at this point, but to me and probably some people out there think it's not just a meme but more of an intentional part to the story.
One of the most interesting things about both games' stories is that they both start one month prior to the game release, while this decision was made for Y7 probably because of the pandemic, but why did this also happen to IW? In the previous games (the kiryu saga, obviously excluding Y0 and gaiden), they were released around the same time the actual plot starts:
-Yakuza 1 was released on the 8th of December 2005 and by starting from the second chapter, the game is set on the 5th of December 2005 -Every following game afterwards is released around the same date (in Japan) as the actual plotline starts until Y7 (apply Yakuza 3's case as the same Y1 one)
And the narrative of those games focuses on everything that is happening at the same time that is relevant to the plot, like for example, daigo getting shot by Richardson at the start in Yakuza 3, and arai shooting munakata before the big brawl starts in Yakuza 4, Kurosawa headshotting shinada's former coach in Yakuza 5, those are scenes where kiryu or any protagonist in those games weren't present in and weren't even near from, unlike Yakuza 7 (and maybe infinite wealth) where there are little moments that aren't really relevant or advance the plot that ichiban is not present in or nearby it, like arakawa's prologue or sawashiro poking that one omi officer eyeballs, those didn't have ichiban and barely contributed to the plot
And there is the RPG elements and bonds too, in the previous games, going to a restaurant or doing a specific activity like pocket circuit racing didn't really benefit us, surely substories, IF machines and master training were crucial and important parts but you can just complete the games without even needing to upgrade yourself, source: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLmQeHINo_sHHuyt7EOmUbNWoDko6x2fe-&si=ZeyU_i_APs0Xedm- (excluding the completion point exchange in Y0 and kiwami as those are considered extras) but in Y7 and IW, doing any side activity will help you improve and actually become stronger, even main story content will automatically improve you, and it's a requirement for beating the game, otherwise you will be the one to get beaten and always lose
And if we apply this theory, it does become more true, ichiban as he is the one telling us the story (by this theory), he is the protagonist of this story while the party members aren't just side characters who assist him and get to control, but each one of them has his big moments in the game, unlike the previous games where a main story character who you can't control is the side character who will just help you from start to finish
And by the end of both games, a month passes, and everyone has a happy ending, focusing on what everyone is up to until ichiban arrives on scene
So my main point is, ichiban is telling us the story of the game rather than the game telling us it's story, but about infinite wealth...
I'm not sure about it, but I feel like this game mixed both ideas into one, so ichiban for his side of the game is the one telling us his story, while kiryu's side is that the game itself is telling us his story so stuff like ebina killing narasaki and setting the tojo clan building on fire is the same stuff you would see in previous kiryu games only (like hamazaki blowing off the Chinese restaurant, or shindo's family killing off tojo members)
After all, this is just a theory, you are free to disagree with any point brought here, but if you have anything in mind like a question or to help this theory then, go ahead

I started to wonder, which companion has the most dwemer related dialogue, since we will travel a lot in these ruins. Ofc the vanilla companions are not so fleshed out like modded companions, but i want the game to stay at my language. So there will be only Vanilla or Dialogue Expansioned Vanilla Characters.

Thoughts on his fit with the Spurs. He’s quickly becoming one of my favorite prospects and he’s a very fun watch. I attached his highlights below
A quick scouting report is that he’s a genuine 6’6 with some of the best passing from a young guy i’ve ever seen. He has a solid jumper and can attack downhill with his size. He even had a game earlier this season where he drew 10 FTs
However, he’s not very quick and will usually need a screen to get past defenders. He’s might never be an isolation threat in the NBA. While he’s active on defense and has size, his lack of quickness hurts him there as well

I recently spent an unreasonable amount of time looking into some of the self-hosted analytics tools that I've seen mentioned here. I wrote up the results of my research into self-hosted analytics tools in a blog post that I wanted to share here because there seem to be few if any resources out there that directly compare my two top contenders, Umami and Plausible.
All of the platforms I looked at offer privacy-compliant, cookie-free, client-side analytics. My focus was mainly on how easy or difficult it is to set up and administer each platform using docker compose. Apologies to any serious Matomo fans out there; I don't use PHP, which makes Matomo seem a lot more complicated to me. I do have a section that briefly mentions other tools at the end, but I couldn't look into everything.
I also documented how I self-hosted Umami Analytics, which is the tool that I ultimately went with.
A lot is made of the fact that Plausible uses ClickHouse while Umami uses PostgreSQL for data storage, but the difference hasn't been noticeable on my (probably over-specced) dedicated server. YMMV.
Having used both Umami and Plausible now, I can sum it all up like this: Umami is easier to set up and collects more complete data, while Plausible has a slicker but more branded user interface.
