2024.11.26 20:35 lenaspeak My dog has lyme, is he gonna be okay?
I wasn’t able to be at the vet when my father took him, and my mom keeps giving me mixed answers. My dog has lyme, we found out by him having pain in his front left leg. He’s really really sensitive (for example he had issues with one of his dew claws and was screaming at the top of his lungs when it generally wasn’t serious.) so that’s a good indicator. He won’t put any pressure on it and has been hobbling around. He tested positive yesterday, and they have him on a 12 week antibiotic, is he gonna live? This dog is genuinely my everything and has helped me through so much and i’m willing to do absolutely anything to keep him alive. He’s 5 years old, a bully boxer mix, who is active (2 2.5 mile walks daily) and often competes in agility.

2024.11.26 20:35 JimmedMead05 How long should a Chasuble and alb be?
I’ve seen albs go to mid calf and I’ve seen them go to where they’re almost covering the entirety of the feet. I’ve also seen chasuble only go down to mid thigh level and I’ve seen others go almost to the same length as the alb.
What do you think is the proper length?

Traditionally Published Romance I think men would like: Like No Other Lover by Julie Anne Long
I have been struggling to come up with more romance books that I can recommend, and for a while. On top of that, the lack of any historical romance in my recommendation list has been bugging me due to how big they are in the genre. During a discussion on Discord, I realized I have a historical romance I can recommend, and that is what I will discuss today.
The biggest reason I have had a hard time finding a historical to recommend is I just normally don't enjoy them, but I recommend this one because Like No Other Lover uses the setting to tell a story that would not work in any other setting. It uses the social mores of the time to give us characters who are far more mercenary in their relationship planning than I would ever tolerate in a contemporary romance.
Our Characters:
The FMC has recently had a scandal and a canceled engagement that threatens to ruin her. She has no family money and if she cannot get married she is destined for destitution. Here we find the first parts of the story that only work in the historical, the idea of a scandal that no one will overlook but doesn't require our MC to be a horrible person. And second, the idea that a woman requires a marriage to stay out of poverty, in the modern world she can just go get a job, but in a historical romance all other doors are closed to her. The FMC needs to get married, and she needs the engagement before her scandal catches up to her, she has come to the small party the MMC is hosting to secure an engagement from any attendee she can.
The MMC is a scientist fascinated with bugs. He fell in love with the FMC at first sight, but he caught her discussing her possible suitors when he went to talk to her, and as she was discussing different men, he came up and she dismissed him as being beneath her. The tables turned, and now he has risen above her. However, he still needs money to fund a scientific voyage that his father won't pay for and he is going to be engaged to a woman whose father is willing to pay for his voyage. So both our MCs are seeking marriages for money. The MMC is not going lord his position over the FMC, instead he works with her to help her in her attempts to find a rich suitor.
Short Summary:
The MMC is hosting a party at his family estate and his sister brings the FMC to the party so that she can try to secure an engagement before her scandal catches up to them. The MMC is using the time at the party to woo the lady he intends to propose to. The FMC and the MMC actually team up with the MMC helping the FMC in her quest to secure a marriage proposal and she helps him in his wooing of his intended.
POV: Both.
Third Act Breakup: kind-of? She bangs him and then runs away to begin her life in poverty
What I like about this book:
This is a story that is uniquely able to be told in a historical. Two characters who are seeking to marry for money, without moral judgement because that was just a normal thing at the time. The characters grow to respect each other as they continue their plans. While it is almost like the MCs are dating other people, the courting of the time feels completely different, like they are interviewing for the position more than a date. There is no desire, except perhaps to find someone they won't hate.
The FMC especially grew on me as she spent time trying to find a match, because while she isn't thrilled with her choices, she spends her time trying to find the best in these men. But, this is also a plot where the FMC spends most of the book courting men who are not the MMC, but never really being attracted to them. She is not going towards the men, but fleeing poverty. Then, in the end she throws it all away to get what she wants, a chance to fuck the MMC before she goes to live her life as a servant

2024.11.26 20:35 bruhmoment2248 82 Days until the 67th Daytona 500: Pikes Peak International Raceway
"The Fastest 1-Mile Oval Paved Anywhere" The air remains quite thin up here, and so does the racing at this slept-on facility: the Pikes Peak International Raceway. my god this is a beautiful photo of the racetrack Overview and History Just down the road south of Denver off of I-25, the Pikes Peak International Raceway opened its doors for racing in 1997. The track is built 6 feet below “ground level”, whatever that means in relation to sea level in Colorado of all places, and was a joint venture between Raceway Associates and Apollo Real Estate Advisors with the intention of getting a big league NASCAR event at the facility. Pikes Peak immediately found itself on the Indy Racing League calendar when it opened, and was a fixture of the series until 2005. The track gained a Craftsman Truck Series date in 1998, moved from the nearby Colorado National Speedway nearly 115 miles to the north of the raceway. The first event was held in July, but moved to May in 1999 where it remained until 2002. Program cover for the 1999 Pikes Peak truck race, featuring 1998 winner Ron Hornaday Jr It was the Busch Series stock cars, however, that got to Fountain first in June 1998, with Matt Kenseth winning his 2nd ever Busch race after scoring a win in the second race at Rockingham earlier in the season. Outside of the inaugural 1998 event, the Pikes Peak date was normally a late July affair. The track hosted the Xfinity Series from ‘98 until 2005, David Green taking the final victory at the facility driving the Brewco #27 Ford. those fans on the stairs didn't know it yet, but they witnessed history Like the Mexico City course and the neighboring CNS to the north, Pikes Peak is known for the effects of the high altitude environment, reducing the amount of oxygen available for the engines to feed off of and less downforce available to keep the cars planted into the pavement. The effects of slipstream are also nullified quite a bit, the thin air not particularly being conducive to the benefits of drafting around a 1-mile oval. The banking on the frontstretch is 7 degrees, 3 degrees on the backstretch, and 10 degrees in the turns. One can think of the frontstretch itself as one big turn, an unofficial turn 0 given the track’s D-shape configuration. think of Pikes Peak as an enlarged Richmond at high altitude Did You Know? - The track is immortalized in the most recent IndyCar video game released for consoles, IndyCar Series 2005. - Every Pikes Peak Truck Series race at the track had a different winner: Ron Hornaday in 1998, Mike Wallace in 1999, Greg Biffle in 2000, Joe Ruttman in 2001, and Mike Bliss in 2002. - In addition, every Busch Series race had a different winner: Kenseth in 1998, Andy Santerre in 1999, Jeff Green in 2000, Jeff Purvis in 2001, Hank Parker Jr in 2002, Scott Wimmer in 2003, Greg Biffle in 2004, and David Green in 2005. In 2002, ISC got the rights to buy the track if the owners decided to sell, which they did in 2005, with the added clause of shutting down professional racing at the track, which remains in effect to this day. Thus, Pikes Peak has not returned to a NASCAR calendar since. (2021 photo) the track still looks good for racing to come back... Life After Racing In the present day, the track still has weekend events to sustain the facility, but there is no current avenue towards any top 3 series of stock cars returning to PPIR in the near future. A shame considering Pikes Peak was one of the more unique tracks on the national circuit, and supports the type of track diversity that is needed in a stock car racing series calendar. Had the track ever received a Cup Series date, it’s very possible that NASCAR never leaves; but I guess we won’t know for awhile, or ever, if big league racing can come back to Pikes Peak. we'll be back one day. On the next episode of 2025 Daytona 500 Countdown... I know you're gonna want to take your pitchforks out when we reach this next track, but we head to the land where everything is bigger... submitted by bruhmoment2248 to NASCAR [link] [comments] |

I’ve noticed justifying war on a whole country takes longer than just one region/state of the country. If I justify war on just that state, couldn’t I just sweep through the entire country anyway? If not is there a better way than to wait +400 days just for a single country.

2024.11.26 20:35 IHeartData_ Custom Network Discovery Event LLD?
I'm trying to create a custom LLD rule that would create discovery events via script, and in the docs I don't find any way to do it... lots of options for custom LLDs once a host is created, but not one that generates the initial host discovery event.
Specifically, I've separately built some scripts that will query windows DHCP and 2 x Asus Merlin routers and build a list of connected clients, their device name, and their RSSI (among other properties). The goal then is to build a time series graph to show their connection quality over time and their connection/disconnection over time.
Here are some alternate techniques I've considered but aren't ideal:
1- I could run a custom LLD against the wireless AP's themselves, and have each connected client then appear as a templated item. That's not ideal because they are actually hosts, not items.
2- I could use traditional network discovery and ICMP the multiple network ranges, and THEN figure out which ones are wireless and assign a template against them somehow. But that just seems a bit brute force since I can very quickly retrieve the host list itself without the need for a scan.
So, does anyone have any ideas how I could run my own script to generate discovery events?

2024.11.26 20:35 mxddywithanx Broken water heater. CA
I rent from an individual owner of an HOA property through a property management company. I have had MANY issues in the past. Here's the timeline of the current issue.
11/5 - I submit a maintenance request for a broken water heater
11/7 - Get in touch with plumbers 11/12 - I finally was able to take a day off work (plumbers only work M-F 9-5, and despite me giving them permission to enter my apartment without me present— neither the vendor NOR the property management company have a key…) They check out individual water heater and say it needs to be replaced. I schedule for 11/19, as I can’t just take off work whenever I feel like it 11/13 - I receive an e-mail notice from my property management company about water shut off on 11/19
11/19 - Plumbers arrive with replacement and are unable to do anything as my property management company has neglected to give the HOA 48 hour notice. They just sent me an e-mail apparently, but not anyone else? The plumbers call them over and over, I e-mail them. No one hears anything, so the plumbers leave. 11/20 - I receive an e-mail that does not mention their error, but instead tells me that they are trying to find a new vendor, since as a result of that day the current vendor will be charging them more. (No damn kidding.) In a shocking turn of events they stay with the same vendor. Now it’s a holiday week so I’m unable to take any time off. I finally find a friend who can be at my apartment to let them in. 11/23 - (Saturday) I ask plumbers if they are available Monday or Wednesday. I don’t hear back. 11/25 - Now Monday, and I contact the plumber and property management to confirm Wednesday so HOA can get notice. Don’t hear back from my property manager. I e-mail again to check the status.
11/26 - Get an e-mail today saying it’s too late for Wednesday but they can do Friday 11/29. I confirmed immediately.
As you can imagine this has been frustrating beyond words— and on top of that I don’t have hot water through any of this. Is there anything I can do? “Forgetting” to tell the HOA was ridiculous, and then stalling the process even more when the plumbers raised their quote after sending people out and not being able to do anything. No word of apology or even acknowledgement from the property management company.
I’m wondering this. Can I deduct from my rent for 11/19 - 11/29 (providing it actually gets fixed then…) as it’s the property management’s fault? I had to skip a day of work on 11/19 where nothing was able to be done due to the property management company’s negligence. And now I have to be home another day…
I can’t afford to skip work like this. I understand the first time— it’s shitty but I guess we all have to do it sometimes. (Though, to be fair— the water heater started having intermittent issues back in April. The plumbers came over, tested it for a couple minutes with no issue, and left. It stopped working again later that night and since then it has not worked consistently without me hitting it. I told the plumber and my property management back then and nothing came of it.)
I know the 30 days of them actually trying before I can do anything about it doesn’t count here because hot water is a requirement. I can’t keep taking off work. Is there anything I can do?
Thank you.

2024.11.26 20:35 dav4447 Opinions on two offers
Hi all,
I wanted to hear everyone’s opinion on what they might do if they were in my role.
I recently started a job at a large construction company in supply chain. It is in the office 5 days a week. This is salary. It is about 30 minutes each way. This company is privately owned.
I got another offer recently in commercial real estate for supply chain for 1k less than the construction job and fully remote. This is hourly. This company is also publicly traded.
Both benefits are around the same.
What would you do in my position? In your eyes, which type of company do you think has more job security? I know no job is but I wanted to hear thoughts. Literally any feedback is very much appreciated.
I have been working for 3 years now with experience in construction and services.
Thank you so much.

2024.11.26 20:35 gregsl4314 [PubQ] Has anyone else ever used an email tracker on their queries?
There are a few out there that track when emails are opened -- I've used MailTracker before myself for business processes once, it's not perfect but it's pretty accurate.
I'd imagine there's not much you can do, being that you don't know if an agent hasn't gotten to it yet or actually missed your email (unless you track it on QT and see you've been skipped and unopened). But even if you think they missed your email it'd be hard to reply unless you had an offer.
I have a batch still to send and so many agents have skipped that I'd be curious if anyone has tried it, and what they did, if anything, with the info.
