Hello everyone. First off, I know, turning to Reddit for this kind of thing isn't the best option, second, I am in a bit of a bind an can't afford/not sure where else to go for some answers.
Here's the story: I recently worked for an employer, a fairly typical retail/entry level setup. It turns out they are fundamentally flawed in terms of management and business model from the ground up. As a result, I quit. While attempting to setup an EI claim, I have learned just how downright scummy this particular corporation really is. I have quit on Oct 14th 2024, which is well over a month ago and they still haven't submitted my ROE. I have returned and inquired twice now and been told "yeah, it usually takes time, 3-4 other employees before you had the same problem" and more recently "oh, the manager that hired you didn't even setup your paperwork in the system properly, so we couldn't even process you". So my thoughts are this: Can I sue these guys for financial hardships? Should I be getting in touch with a lawyer? I know its a pretty long shot, giant corporation vs random nobody. I tried contacting the head office via their website but only got an answering machine and a broken web form that's supposed to let you email a complaint/question.
This corporation just seems to be doing whatever they want and are untouchable in terms of getting someone to investigate them and kick some butt. I have called Labour Standards who basically said they can't do anything. I have called Service Canada who said they'd get in touch with them, twice, and nothing has happened. I am honestly feeling rather used, abused and thrown out the door. I can't really afford a lawyer, even if I wanted to go that route. I can't get EI because they're holding my ROE.
I keep playing the waiting game, making phone calls and trying to get people moving, not sure what else to do. Any advice is super appreciated. Thanks

So a bit of context. About 4 months ago I opted for an education plan for my kid but after some careful consideration, I can see that the accumulated amount payable after let's say 18 years is about 15% less than if I just chose to save it myself in a bank account. And that is excluding any interests a bank account would offer. I decided to just not contribute to the premium because I had no time to go to their head office to cancel the policy because it requires my signature. (And a ton of other procedures)
Fast forward to today and I received a letter saying I owe X amount of money to them. The way it was phrased sounded like I didn't pay for a loan instead of sounding like I didn't contribute to this voluntary plan I chose, if that makes sense.
So I'm wondering, can they take legal actions against me like debt collections agencies and such to force me to pay for those months I didn't pay?

At 3 am I don't know what to say , my best time of this year was with my friend , it was all so special sharing stuff listening. But i fell in love at the same time , and got so blinded in it , i don't know i started what doing , i wasn't the same as before in friendship maybe i changed , i lied i accept it and i shouldn't have ever did that . And i don't know why i did . I lost my true friendship probably the trust . I had everything with me and i just fumbled it , love is far fetched , even lost my trustable friendship. And when the realization hits it is unmatched the pain , but i have done wrong and i deserve this pain . Maybe i could change in past and never did some actions i did and shoulda been straight . Im a very stupid person , my actions doesn't replicate my feelings properly and my heart doesn't helps my actions. I just keep doing stupid things even if i don't want to . And yes im stupid an idiot a liar but i don't know more but this friendship the person the friend means so much to me my actions were wrong i don't deserve forgiveness. But really i really value this friendship. Guys please don't be like me , no matter how much value you do , please refrain from doing stupid things and lying like me . Please . And now just it feels empty. Please don't be like me . And value the people you do with actions that also match them correctly please .
